Hi,
we have a problem with the size of the generated chm file, using RH8.
We can set any window size in the 'window properties' - the result is a chm file, which is too small (height and width).
In RH5 which we used before, anything worked as expected.
Are there any hidden options or files, to reset this settings?
Thanks in advance

Set Microsoft HTML help as your default, then create a new window. With that set as the default, you will find the options you require.

The options are there - that is not the problem. But they don't have any effect on the size of the generated chm file.

Sorry, you started by referring to file size but then went onto window size so I thought perhaps that is what you meant.
If you are talking about the size of the file as in MB, I'm not sure why you mentioned window size.
In the wizard to generate the file there is an option to Optimize the file size. If you have tried that, I'm not sure what to suggest. How big a difference from when you generated in X5 compared with RH8.

Sorry, I used 'file size' and 'window size' misleading. (no native speaker)
I'm talking of the windows size. Height and width on the screen.
I know the options to define the window size, but the window remains too small.

By default the window size and postion is however the user last closed the window. There is an option to remember the size and postion. Personally I hate it when someone uses that, it's my PC, I want the help where **I** want it.

Last position and dimension - sure.
But we have the situation, that there are several users which open several chm files for the first time. Time and time again.
And all of these files have an edge length of 100 pixels where they should have at least 1000 or whatever.
Of course - the user can resize the window by his own idea. It is his PC and I'm completely with you here..
But at the moment, we enjoin everyone unintended to see an absurd small window, opening a chm file for the first time.
This is exactly the opposite of what we want to do. And we have no idea how to enlarge the windows size to a dimension that would fit to the users demands. (Which should assure at least the possibility to start reading without resizing the size of the window first at all.)

See the Placement settings above. Are you saying they are being ignored when you open the CHM for the first time on a
new machine? On your machine the setting will be remembered.

Exactly.
I define heigth and width. I generate the chm file and it appears smaller than defined at my machine if it was generated for the first time.
And it appears smaller than defined at the users machine.
(Opening the file after resizing and closing shows, that the mechanism of use-last-dimension works...)

Create a new layout in the project and generate a new CHM with a different name.
