I am getting so frustrated with Stager and the way the rotation coordinates are constantly changing on me when I'm trying to fine tune the angles making it almost impossible to actually get what I want.
I recorded my screen for a while and have put together this video using clips from the recording to show what is going on. I have also outlined below what I did each time and what I expect to happen Vs what actually happens.
In the first clip you can see that the rotation values are X150 Y180 Z-180. I want to rotate it a bit more on the Z axis so I change that from -180 to -190. When I hit enter the -190 changes to 170 and the Y value changes from 180 to -180. OK I don't understand why but fine. Then I want to change it back to the way it was so I type in -180 again and it changes it to 180 instead. Now I have it back the way it was but the Y is now -180 and the Z is now 180. So the opposite of what they were to start with yet exactly the same framing.
The next clip at about the 20 second mark the rotation values are X160 Y-180 Z180. I see the X position is ever so slightly off centre though so I update that value from 0.2 to 0. The moment I start to hover over the X position though and before I do anything at all the Y and Z rotation values decide to swap from negative to positive and positive to negative respectively. The view stays the same but they just decide to swap for some reason. Then I do actually change the X position value from 0.2 to 0 and they swap back again!
Next clip at the 27 second mark shows me clicking away from and back to the camera as the selected object and that just doing that causes the Y & Z values to swap as well. So at this stage I'm thinking to myself that perhaps Y180 and Z-180 is the same as Y-180 & Z180 and as long as one is positive and one is negative they are effectively the same. But then look at what happens next. I go to refine the X value from 173.27 to 170 and it makes that move but then it also changes the Y to -180. So now both the Y and Z values are -180 yet it's still in the same position, so there goes that theory. So OK now I want to move it back down again and I change the X rotation value to 180, only 7 degrees more than what it was to start with. As soon as I hit enter all values change to 0. What!?
Next at about the 48 second mark I go the change the Y rotation value. As I try to move the mouse over the Y value it jumps to scroll to change mode on the X value and it all changes again. That jumping-changing thing drives me bonkers as well but that's another issue. So OK we now have X and Z values in there again but are essentially in the same position as when everything was 0 but let's get back to changing the Y value. I change it from 0 to 5 and nothing happens, nothing at all. A lot more weird stuff happens through the rest of the video but I don't think I need to explain any more of it. You can see for yourself the weird things that are happening. There is another issue I have a lot that I didn't manage to capture and that is sometimes the Z rotation just keeps rotating clockwise no matter what values I put in an dit becomes impossible to get it straight again. I usually just keep hitting undo when that happens but have had to just delete the camera and start again with a new one to get it fixed.
Can anyone explain to me why this happens? It is incredibly frustrating. It makes it so hard to make fine adjustments because you change it a few degrees and all of a sudden the value completely changes so when you try to tweak it again it isn't just a matter of adding a few more degrees, you now have to figure out what other value to change to continue to try to move it in the same direction as you initially were.
