Team Project Failure to Autosave

I've been working on this Team project for the last few days, but today it says the project has failed to auto-save for the last 20 minutes that I've been working on it. I'm not sure how to resolve the issue or what's causing it. It also won't let me close the project and open it again.

    Update: I closed the program without saving and re-opened it. It seems to  be working just fine now.

    I'm having this issue now, but I'm loath to lose my work. I've tried following the advice in another post to convert to a normal project, or to 'save as', but both of these require a normal 'team save' to proceed so both get stuck. I had a look at Edit...Team Project... Media Management and there was a file not mapped (manually renamed), so I fixed mapping. That gave me hope... which was unfounded. Still stuck on 'scanning for modified assets'. 

     It seems like there's a running background process to save that is stuck, and I can't seem to kill it.
