I'd suggest contacting Shutterstock and get them to sort it out -- what you got was not vector. I even tried opening it in Illustrator, and all I got was a file with an embedded raster image. CC2017 programs (including InDesign) can open CS5.5 files - no problem there. But 5.5 programs cannot open CC2017 files. - this is too much to expect - for an older program to be able to open files in a format that was not created yet when that program was released.  It's possible with InDesign CC2017 to save the file as IDML, which can be opened in InDesign CS5.5, but not without losing any formatting that was added using features in CC that did not exist in CS5.5. InDesign can absolutely do one record per page - if fact that is its default until a user changes it. All of your records would need to be lines on the same Excel sheet, and since your green headlines are of varying numbers of lines, for best results you would need to put the placeholder for that header and and the placeholder for the body text into the same text box on the page. ... I found your problem - it's that your compound path (gray car overhead view) has some guidelines compounded into the shape.  I was able to fix it by turning off all other layers, releasing the compound shape, then deleting the guides. I don't have the time to create a video, but here are some basic tips: For the header that is the same on all pages, just put that header on the left side of the Master spread. For the other side, Give your chapter name text a unique style name, and then under Type > Text Variables > Define, choose Running Header and use Edit to define the paragraph style that your header will read. (for this to work, ONLY your chapter names can be set to this style) Then - under Type you can use Insert Variable to place your header ..  it will look like the right-hand image, and can be styled any way you'd like.   On your document pages, it will pick up the text from the Styled chapter heading on the same or previous pages until it encounters a new piece of text that uses that style. ...
