If Photoshop Elements starts acting wonky or weird, it may help to reset your Preferences. Here's how: • Close Photoshop Elements. • Press and hold Ctrl Alt Shift (Mac: Cmd Opt Shift) and keep holding these keys as you restart Photoshop Elements. • When you get a dialog box that says: Delete the Adobe Photoshop Elements settings file? you can let go of the keyboard keys and click Yes. If you had made any changes to Preferences prior to this, these will be lost, but it's a small loss compared with the gain of getting back to normal with Photoshop Elements. Is PE 15 compatible with Windows 10? Yes. Do I uninstall PE 12 before downloading PE 15? Thank you. Each version of PE is independent. Unless you are pressed for disk space, I would not uninstall PEv.12 until you are sure that everything works OK, esp. the Organizer.

Have a look in the layers palette - can you see the layer with the "pasted" object? If you followed the work-flow delineated above, you should see two layers: A as the background layer, and B with the object at the top.

The crop tool is not appropriate for this task. Try the following and let us know if it works for you. In Editor, go to the expert tab. Open picture B, the one you wish to select something from to add to another picture. Use one of the selection tools, e.g. selection brush, lasso tool, to select the object. You will see an outline ("marching ants") once the selection is complete Go to Edit menu>copy to copy the selection to the clipboard Open picture A, then go to Edit>paste Use the move tool to position object from picture B. In the layers palette you should see picture A as the background layer, and object B on a separate layer.

I opened a picture of a flower and did the following: Open the picture file Used the magnetic lasso tool to select the the foreground Place the selection on its own layer (Layer>New>Layer via copy or CTRL+J) - this will be Layer 1 Delete the background layer Went to File>save for web. File format PNG-24, checked constrain proportion & transparency boxes Saved file in a folder on desktop. Opened file with flower in PSE. Opened b/w picture in PSE Dragged flower from Photo bin up to work area If these steps do not work for you, try to copy/paste the flower to the new destination

but my images are not carrying the transparency over. Not sure what this means i open it in editor it shows as transparent background. Here you state that the background is transparent. Please provide step-by-step details of your work-flow so that we may trouble-shoot this. Also, please provide a print screen of the layers palette.

Let's try again. For demonstration, I took a harbor scene and added the moon to it. I used the magnetic lasso to select the moon from another picture Then Edit>copy Opened the picture of the harbor Then Edit>paste. This is step 4. In the layers palette, it shows up as Layer 1 - just the moon surrounded by transparency.

Refer to step #4. After you have pasted the selection, it should be on a separate layer. The replacement-face selection should be visible surrounded by a checkerboard pattern, which denotes transparency. "However, when I paste the cropped field into picture B there is a white background." The directions do not reference cropping. If you are using the crop tool, abandon it. Use the selection brush or the marquee tool to make the selection.of the face, only the face and not part of the background.
