Yes, you've got it! And I'm looking at how should I import it into Lightroom so it shows up on the filmstip of images that were normally loaded into Lightroom. I want it to be included right next to the original CR3 image like it would be if it were done with "Edit in... " from within Lightroom.

Yes, it is Lightroom Classic. Here's the rub... I cannot use "Edit in..." because the editor only edits original untouched raw files (like DxO PureRaw that is contained in the PhotoLab software I am using) So my only choice is 'Export...' and what I choose to do is to see the file in Lightroom where I load and keep track of all of my images, THEN look at the filename for the. image in Lightroom I want to edit, then I go out to the finder level and open that image in PhotoLab from the finder level. That is why it is not included in Lightroom's filmstip of images... I save it as a DNG from PhotoLab next to the original CR3 file on disk.

I've added an outside editor DxO PhotoLab to aid in processing the raw file that is already imported into Lightroom Classic. Once edited it saves a DNG file right next to the original CR3 file in the folder that is linked to Lightroom. I realize that what we see on screen are sidecar jpeg files and that is all I know. But the edits are somehow kept by Lightroom and saved and the results are viewable, I always only modify a 'copy' of the file being chosen to work on. Back to the original question, after fiddling with the file in the outside editor I want to be able to see it and even work on it again at least for cropping and some editing which Lightroom does so well, but I can't see the file or call it up from withing Lightroom. I understand or hear that I need to 'Sync' that file to bring it into Lightroom and that is where I am drawing a blank. What is the right way to make this edited DNG file visible in Lightroom? I hope it is even possible.... TIA, Ken

RIght now, I can right-click (option click on my Mac) on an image in Lightroom and it gives me menu choices of all that I have installed for Topaz Plug-ins. I would like to add the abilty to use DxO Pure Raw as a choice in this menu "Edit in.... " in the drop down menu. Is this possible to add and work with from within Lightroom or am I barking up the wrong tree? - I have installed DxO Pure Raw, re-started my computer and it is linked to Lightroom, somehow, but does not show up in the "Edit in..." menu. This an area outside of my specialty so need help. TIA, Ken

Photroshop 2025 and all updated. I seem to have a tab behavior where I cannot keep them separated but once they are attached to each other, like the 'properties' tab I show here, it insists on opening now attached to the 'Layers and Paths' group which I want to keep floating separately. I see in the menu for the tab I can close the tab but when I perfom and operation where it needs to be open it comes bag 'glued' to the layers and paths group. How do I keep these separated now? As it is the attached group covers an area I am trying to work on so that is why I ask...

I've updated my apps and now Lightroom will only show Photoshop Beta when I select 'Edit in... ' The new version of Photoshop 2025 is installed but Lightroom does not recognize and only shows the 'Beta' version of Photoshop as a link to 'Edit in...' How do I get the new Photoshop 2025 to show up as the one I want to 'Edit in...' ?

My hard disk is getting full so I want to remover things I don't need. It seems to me that the only catalog backup I would need to save is the last one created. I use the default 'pictures' folder that Lightroom defaults to for catalog backups which is fine with me. Can I safely just delete old catalog backups as Lightroom saves them every time I make a backup, which is often, so now I have over 40 GB of catalog backups I want to dump most of but thought I would be wise to check here first before doing anything damaging. I have backups of all of the catalog backus saved to an external drive just in case... What are you thoughts and best practice for this? TIA, Ken

Hmm... this will be several hundred images coming in from shoots over several days. I was hoping there was a way to specify a ratio like 4x6 and just be able to grab the crop tool set to that ratio and then crop. I can set the pixel size later in photoshop as they all will be so close to the same size... no harm done

Okay, then there is no blur effect in Lightroom. It sounds like I'll have to do what I want in Photoshop, which is fine, there are lots of wonderful YouTube videos on how to apply a bokeh effect in Photoshop. Maybe someday there will be added controls and effects in Lightroom. Lightroom does have its unique selection ability but applying additional effects seems like a great next step for added abilities. Maybe all I need to do is to 'paint' in various intensities for a mask but I'm not aware of a blur effect in Lightroom like you can do in Photoshop. It would be great to 'paint' selected areas that could be then affected with a gradient effects like blur.. Is this possible and how should it be done?

It seems the major functions in beta version have been added to regular Photoshop and Photoshop Beta has a bug where measurements suddenly appear on screen and can't be removed until the system is restarted... I just wanted to know, Is Photoshop Beta now obsolete and can be left out of the picture?

There is apparently no resolve for this and appears on Windows of Mac. As long as it doesn't take over my computer system and only appears at most once a week... I can live with shutting the system down and rebooting to get rid of it. I won't mark anything as resolved yet as I hope there will be a fix. This has never happened before after decades of Lightroom use and only pops up in Lightroom Classic.

Somehow, when accidentally touching the screen with the cursor while editing an image a little dimension box appears that cannot be gotten rid of unless I quit Lightroom and re-start Lightroom. It also stays on screen going to other apps, for instance signing on to these forums... there it is. What is it and how do I turn it off? The excape key and all other keys do nothing to get rid of it. I need help as it's a plain nuisance... TIA, Ken

Okay, I. went to Settings and the menu already had tool tips and rich tool tips unchecked.... I wonder why the tool tips have been showing up whenever I do editing in Photoshop?

Interesting, so in Sonoma, whether I choose 'settings' in the Photoshop menu, I can still go to the edit menu and choose preferences? I didnt see it but will go back and re-check. Thank you.
