'No it isnt illegal if you paid for it.'
It depends who is selling it, or giving it away. If someone bought CS5 from Adobe, or an approved reseller, then of course they can still use it. However, buying or downloading pirated software does not make it legal to use. The age of the software does not alter that.

Have you followed the advice given by Jane above? If that did not resolve it, then the preference reset advised by Jeff?

It sounds a good idea Trevor. It is always good to see how images were made.

The answer was given earlier by Derek and later by Ged.
Although Camera Raw and the Camera Raw Filter have similarities, they are not the same thing and only one of them (Camera Raw) has the ability to crop. So to see the crop tool you need to open the image directly in Camera Raw rather than using the Camera Raw Filter from Photoshop. Dave

I am puzzled as to how your Mac reports 75GB of RAM usage on a system that you say has only 64GB of RAM. I use Windows so I don't know the background of the Mac activity monitor and how it calculates process memory, but it does look strange.
Photoshop will always use the RAM allocated to it and will alway use scratch disk space regardless of how much RAM you have. That is normal (I have 256GB RAM here and scratch disk use can run to several hundred GB). Raster editing involves moving around a huge amount of data and that data needs to be stored for every layer and every step in history. Scratch disk is not a fall back when RAM is used up, the scratch disk is the primary storage space for that data and RAM is used for fast access to parts of that data.
Can you go to Photoshop's System info, click 'Copy' and paste the info here. Dave

This is the kind of image that, for me, makes SFTW. No matter how long I took, I would not have come up with this idea. The execution is also good, not only rotating the rocks but flipping them so that the lighting is from the top. Excellent.

A prehistoric follow on from Didier's underwater image. You've brought us the missing connection between land and sea.

One day they'll be fossils! That's a nice job turning the landscape into a sea floor, Didier.

Haha. There is a parking area near here, that has a sign saying 'No chain saws allowed' which always puzzles me as to why they felt the need for such a sign! 🙂

Brilliant Trevor! You have so much going on in there that you have to spend a while looking for it all. There are some excellent touches such as using Jabba the Hutt as the drum and keeping the fonts similar to the original. I love it.

It looks much cooler now that you have added the water. I like the hint of reflection on the water surface at the left. Nice job!

It is like a scene from Close Encounters. 🙂 The people and tents could do with a little shadow, matching those already on the rocks, to help them sit on the ground.

I think this is very clever. Adding the extra landscape while keeping the similar colours and texture has changed the perspective entirely, the front of the vehicle helps that illusion. Very nicely done. Dave

That's a very good match of the lighting direction on the rocks, the lander, and the astronaut, Trevor. I wonder if the earth should be partially in shadow?

You can have two synchronised windows showing the same document and use the zoom and rotate view tools independently on either of them. You can edit the actual document (as opposed to the view) in either window and other will update. Use Window > Arrange > New Window for xxxxdocumentnamexx Then Window >Arrange > Tile... as required If you want to independently edit both versions then you will need to duplicate the document Image > Duplicate and work on each. Without duplication you would end up with two sets of conflicting edits in the same document.
