258 tables in one file isn't something most of us deal with everyday. From my experience, InDesign isn't happy with a big amount of tables, in general, and this has to be considered as a norm, I'm afraid. This doesn't mean it should loose headers, though. My previous questions/suggestions were from the experience of tweaking protected system files. Adobe's *protection* is not even close, though. Against admins it doesn't exist, actually. Just tested, I am able to edit / save that xml file *in place*, with no additional dances. Something's wrong on your side. Why you edit it in Dreamweaver? What if Dreamweaver has no right to write to that folder? I dunno, don't have DW installed, couldn't check. xml is just a plain text file, try Notepad. Mark 4  wrote Ah! Paragraph width? You mean - Text Frame width? There’s no way to specifically lock this. You can only constrain proportions, or lock the whole object. Most likely you have placeholders for graphic here, or just additional frames (text or unassigned), with text wrap enabled (and these may be locked, like any other object). Go to View > Extras > Show Frame Edges to see. Recently when I use the pen tool in InDesign it treats it as a shape and not a stroke. How do you know that? When I go to close the path it doesn't give me the little empty circe indicating that the path will close. Where you go? What circle? Usually we close open path by clicking an icon in Pathfinder panel. Would you mind a screenshot? Also when I click on the shape using the selection tool it frames it with a box as if it's a shape not a line. That's normal behavior of Selection tool. Try Direct Selection.
