Seems to be when I am trimming. Happens several times a day. 1st act exported fine via AME on v22.5   2nd act had full frame green flashes with same settings (basically Vimeo 720HD with timecode burn). Disabling use previews did not help. Exporting from PP direct was fine. ... View more

Running v22.5 beta (build 49 I think). Opened v22.4 sequence (in a production) + hit render all.    Watched back + one file is media offline. Hmmm. Bit annoying I wasn't warned/prompted.   Found clip, went to relink, it found file but reported that it wasn't compatible.   This is a screener so it's MP4 plus it has (bracket symbols) in the name.   Converted to prores proxy in shutter encoder + it relinked fine.    This isn't the only MP4 in the project (lots of A7s C000x.mp4) mind. Vidiot here, so be kind.... all relating to multitrack, rather than waveform, editor.      1.    Is there any way to have double click on a clip select that clip, rather than open it in waveform editor (or at least disable the default open in waveform editor)?    2.   Can Cmd+K (split clip at time selection) be made to work as the clip is playing back? (seems like I have to stop playback to have it work)   I don't use Audition much (mostly as a conduit from PP to RX9) but I'm trying to demonstrate how much better the AU region select is for quickly levelling up multitrack sources. Ideally I want to do a region select and then adjust the gain within that region, without having to split the clip. But if I could just select region, Cmd+K to split then drag the clip gain down with the GUI (or via Shift-G) without stopping playback (i.e. I am adjusting the bits I just listened to AND scooting ahead of playback and adjusting based on waveforms, rather than adjusting what is under the playhead).  (LIKE you can in waveform editor)   Example - 50 secs in is where I blade, rather than CMD+K to keep the playhead moving. ... Video editor trying to get an approximation for viewings (so ideally I'd achieve this in PP but reasonably comfortable in Au)   I've a film where folks are watching a projection and the projected footage cuts full screen.   i. What are your recommended eq/reverb/whatever settings to achieve the 'in the room' emulation of how the participants would be hearing it? Or is it best just to run a pass recording it in a similar environment?   ii. What's the logic where I can keyframe an A/B output - so A is full sound and B is the 'in the room' sound? (I guess this is side-chaining, if sub-mix A is open, sub-mix B is closed - likely to be over just a couple of frames at the cut point).   Have full RX9 available if that is useful.   Thanks for any tips. ... Minor annoyance   If you 'modify clip' and set an alternate timecode - then want to reset to the original, it seems to always require this be done twice for it to stick. 15.4.1 on MacOS Mojave. Be great if anyone else can confirm or deny so that it maybe gets fixed. ... View more

Found some answers to my own questions...   Q: Is there a way to edit captions, on 'C1' caption track, from source to program? A: Yes they are inserted/overwritten when source is set to use individual clips, rather than nests. To edit in *just* subtitles you need to enable an empty track on the source side. To avoid overwriting subtitles, lock the C1 caption track on timeline + clean up unwanted subtitles on new C2 track post edit.   Q: Is there a recommended workflow for converting v14 open captions (ie on a V track in timeline) to v15?   A: Only way I found was to either drag the subtitle file from v14 project or export/import SRT.   Q: Is there a way of moving saved caption-subtitle styles between sequences (in different projects within the same production) in v15? A: The styles are saved in the project they are created, copy to different project to access them in style drop down in that project.   Q: Is there a way of having captions on a video track in v15 (like open captions in v14), without retyping? (eg 'convert C1 captions to V2 titles'?). A: No I don't think so, more I got used to v15 captions the less I wanted this.   Q: anyone else still seeing GUI anomalies when pancaking timelines (eg mark in/out not updating in one timeline without restarting app) A: just me then.     -- some detail-- Dealing with a rough cut that was made from a flattened, subtitled MP4 made on v14.x with open captions.     I have the 14.x project file, imported to my 15.4.1 production, but the track with the open captions is empty.   There's an icon, with ? in a box, representing a media file in the project, which turns out to be the open captions file. I can drag that to a track in a timeline and it offers various flavours of caption import (eg subtitle/Teletext etc) + creates a caption track.   I have to get the start code for those subs by opening the 14.x project in v14 PP.   Also I have to delete the caption track in the v15 seq, then create a new caption track + format it correctly with a temp caption before adding the open captions, otherwise I get words cropped from the subs + the essential graphics reformatting doesn't seem to work.   Now I have the source file, with v15 captions, ready to overcut the sync pull.   But there's no way of patching caption track to caption track, from source to record, that I can see?   So workaround is to pancake and copy captions from caption track in one timeline and paste to the other.   This shows up GUI anomaly where the marks in one timeline don't update.   GoToIn/Out work as expected but tricky to check correct section is marked.     PP 15.4.1 Win10 z840 Dual Xeon P5000 ... I'm just trying out the transcription and captions feature (on 15.1 but with the early access).   I've a 30min, multicamera cut sequence with 8 audio tracks. It is transcribed and has had EBU subtitle captions generated.   (When initially generated PP was not playing back the multicam video, restart of the app has fixed that - but maybe if I'd just waited whilst it did whatever caching it needed to do)   I am noticing that, if I insert or delete time in the timeline (thus moving clips and captions left or right to open/close) there is quite a delay whilst that is processed.    (Also the transcription is not updated to reflect the change - but I understand that might be tricky to implement. ) ... Seems that any captions beyond 3 lines get truncated. I know it's unusual for subtitles to go beyond 3 lines but I was trying to use the new caption tool for something else....   Also it is auto-wrapping - doesn't seem to be a control for where that occurs, suspect it is at safe title ... View more
