Click on the hamburger menu on top right to get to options for the transform panel. It must be set to transform object only and you want it to be set to transform both.

Have you checked your print settings? Something like print to scale or such (too many different printers to know what yours might say). You could also export a pdf and print from there, it is a more reliable way to print.

I would try to copy an existing file before you open it to see what happens. Mostly there was a glitch and now that you have reinstalled the new version, everything is ok.

Your best option is probably to create the effect in black and expand it then add the color afterwards if that makes sense.

I am not familiar with the M1 chip, I am on an older machine, and it certainly should not take that long to move an object or save a file.Is this the only Adobe program you have? Are other things working correctly? I would perhaps try uninstalling and reinstalling the program since this is new and see if something didn't go exactly right when it was installed.

You should be able to do an image trace on your .png. Of course it is hard to determine how good the results will be without seeing the .png, but if the image has very well defined shapes, you should be able to trace it, then depending, you may need to adjust the import settings to get what you need.

The only thing I can think of is to create a favorites list of fonts that are system fonts and then when you use a font, always make sure you are using that filter when selecting a font. Maybe someone has a better answer.

If you are using a pixel image on a pixel image, it would be easier to use Photoshop. If you only have Illustrator, then I would suggest creating a mask.

Just to be clear, you want that part to be transparent. If so, you would first need to make the devil into a vector image (it may already be, it is hard to tell from the preview). You can use the pen tool, try to trace it, various methods. If it is already vector, you can use shapebuilder or pathfinder to delete the shape from the letter after you convert the letter to an outline.

This is a very old file format and I had thought that MAC stopped supporting it before Catalina, but you are out of luck now. Many apps stopped support for it long before MAC did, unfortunately you will have to find a work around - maybe Snippets in InDesign

When in isolatipn mode, it clearly shows that you are in a compund path. That is why all of the other objects within the compund path are also changing color. As @Monika Gause has said, in order to recolor separately, you must release them per her instructions.

If your computer is insufficient for the update, you can revert to the previous version so that you have some version of Illustrator on your computer.

If you routinely create logos, there is a plug-in for illustator called Logo Package Express which helps you streamline outputting logos into all of the formats that you could possible need. You might want to check it out. If you are just doing it this one time, then you would follow what @Jacob Bugge has described.

You are not using vectors when you are exporting pngs and Illustrator is not the best program to deal with pngs. What are you using the graphic for? It might be best to create a pdf to maintain the vectors and you have flexibility for use.
