Remove background is the solution if you are new to it! Try that or try any other Selection tool that will isolate your image. If you are using CS2 you need to work with Quick selection and create a layer mask.

I actually tried it again and it did not work. I am not sure you can do the default.. but maybe someone else can figure it out.... the pattern needs to be save first....and than you can apply the size.

Save the file as a template. Each time you open it you will see the same size pattern,,,
