I am doing a tutorial and I need to duplicate and move an object across the page. I thought the Control-D keyboard shortcut was supposed to do this but it is not working for me. It only nudges it when I click on that command. I have checked and my Object/Transform says Transform again. I am using the latest version and Windows. Can you help?

Is there a way to adjust brush settings to give me just 2 colors (foreground and background) for scatter painting? Seems like no matter how I adjust the settings, I am getting colors I don't want when I scatter. Even black which I certainly don't want.

I recently did a tutorial and learned to joing 2 horizonal lines with a short vertical line, using 1 step. I've lost the tut and want to do this again. Can you tell how to do this? I am ataching a screenshot to try and explain what I mean. Join betweeen the arrows using 1 step.

The distance between objects was done with the stroke window/dashed lines. I'm pretty sure I did this once as a part of a tutorial. I'll keep looking for a way to do that. Thank you

Well, I worked out the problem with the sizing. I was using art brush setting instead of scatter so that's fixed. But isn't there a way to make this stroke look like the one on the left instead of equally sized like the right? The left one I did manually just to show you what I mean. .

I have created a new brush, a plain round brush for making things like strings of beads. I cannot figure out how to resize this brush without changing the shape of the images. Instead of a round brush it turns into an oval if I change the brush size. What is the correct way to do this?

Thank you. I read that but the only access to image trace I see on my Illustrator 2020 is Object/Image trace in the dropdown menu. It says there is an Image trace "button".

Thank you I use the current updated version of AI. I'm not familiar with GPU rendering. Maybe you could help with that? I did expand the appearance. How to apply artwork to the 3D object? The file: Not that one but here is another one. I notice the lines pop up as soon as I click on gradient. Sorry I could not get the AI file to upload.

I found the library @ C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 24 Settings\en_GB\x64\Swatches so I will just keep the swatches there. Thank you.

Thank you all. Yes I see several ways to use the pattern swatch without the swatch library and I guess it will have to do. But are you saying there is no way to put my swatch/pattern in the AI Swatch Library to use later? Sure seems like there would be. What about Other Library? What is that for?

Thank you. I am using a PC with Windows 7 and Photoshop 2020. I managed to complete the project but it never did stop acting erratic. Sometimes the x would land on the right place aand sometimes it would go way off. Also I was using my mouse only. I am going to try this with Photoshop 2019 and see if it's happening there.

I am doing this by painting one x and holding down shift, then painting another x. The first x that I type is going off line. (like a jitter) My brush settings seem to be okay. (See screenshot.) Is the brush supposed to be wavy like that if I have all the settings off? How can I get this brush to stay in line?
