Hopefully you found the answer elsewhere, robink58685836 since you didn't receive a prompt answer here, but for anyone else who comes across this, Lightroom mobile does not allow watermarking with images (PNG or otherwise) at this point - just text, as described in this post. Note that a more descriptive title for your post, rather than "Lightroom x Photoshop", could possibly have gotten you assistance more rapidly, though we'll never know for sure. Example: PNG Watermark in Lightroom Mobile (or something like this, if you didn't know it was called a watermark.)

Hopefully you found an answer to this @noonum, but for anyone else who comes across this post: you can use Lightroom CC Desktop, mobile or web to import and upload your photos to the cloud - there's no need for Dropbox. That's one of the great things about the Lightroom CC ecosystem - you can add to it from any LR CC client, it will sync everything to the cloud, and your photos will then be accessible from any other client. To import using your iPad, you'd need an SD-card adapter for it; you'd import them to your camera roll and then into Lightroom CC.

Hi Adam, Why do you feel the need to Save To... all of your images - why not consider what's in Lightroom CC the completed image? Despite the "Save To" name, this is really meant to be used when you need to send a copy out to the outside world. (That said, there are always legitimate exceptions to general rules.) I do think that the lock idea is one worth raising with Adobe. You can request this feature here. In the meantime, keep in mind that since Lightroom works nondestructively, never touching your original image, any and all edits can be undone, now or 5 years from now, so accidental editing at least isn't fatal.

Btw, you asked why the missing preview issue happened sporadically with my theory that the preview file went missing - even though I said that it really doesn't matter, here's the answer: With my theory in fact didn't happen sporadically - LR would have lost ALL the previews, but it successfully rebuilt all but those for the missing photos, which it couldn't rebuild. if in fact you moved your previews.lrdata file to an external drive, that in fact explains what happened - LR therefore couldn't find it and built a new one.

Let's not confuse the previews with your master photo files. Previews being missing doesn't have anything to do with whether your master photo files are gone forever. Previews are JPEG copies of your files (thumbnail, standard or screensize, 1:1) that LR uses for convenience. IMO it really doesn't matter why LR at some point lost previews - it's generally not a big deal if previews go missing because LR just rebuilds them from your master photos - but it can't if your photos are missing. Your photos being missing is the real and IMO only problem. If following my suggestion to restore a catalog backup didn't resolve the missing photos issue, and following my suggestion to go out to Explorer/Finder and search for your files before you get into the Locate File process didn't help you find them, and if you don't have a backup of them, then they are gone, and you may as well remove them from LR.

I'll bet that for whatever reason, the previews file didn't get associated with the upgraded LR Classic catalog, so LR rebuilt previews, and couldn't build those associated with missing files - it's not a coincidence that it's the missing files that don't have previews. Regarding missing files, how did you search for them - did you click on the exclamation mark, choose Locate, and then search within the window that came up? I find that very unreliable. Instead, start outside of LR in Explorer/Finder, search for them, and then if you find them, do the LR Locate process. Please expand the screenshot of your catalog folder, showing full names of all files in the folder (along with date modified).

Thank you, kayak107​. Those files are indeed missing - they have exclamation marks in the thumbnails. The thumbnails are gray because Lightroom can't access the files to build the thumbnails (previews) from. You have two options - reconnect them using the Locate File process (click on the ! and tell LR where they now reside), thus preserving the work you have done, or remove them from the catalog, losing the work. In terms of why this happened, I don't really understand where you wrote the following, so I can't say. I checked a backup ext drive and could not find any of the "missing files". This drive contains all of my images prior to my upgrading to the new classic. So, in upgrading - it looks like all of my "missing files" appeared in the catalog. Generally files go missing because they get moved, renamed or deleted outside of LR (using Finder or Explorer). LR can't see this happen - it just knows that the files are no longer where it expects them to be.

Hi @woodfish10, the idea here is that your monitor profile may be corrupted. Switching to a different profile allows you to test this. Do you calibrate your monitor? If so, then recalibrating and saving a new profile is an alternative to temporarily switching to an sRGB profile to test this. Otherwise, here's what it looks like the instructions are for Windows 10 to switch to sRGB. (If they don't work, then you'll need to consult Google, as I'm not an expert - this is just my attempt to save you some time.) 1. Go to Color Management in the Control Panel (search / use Cortana if necessary, "Color Management") 2. Go to the Advanced tab. When you're done editing them on the internal drive, use Lightroom's Folders panel to drag the folder to your external - this will move rather than copy them, and LR won't show them as missing. (Just be sure never to cancel a move while it is in progress - if you make a mistake, let it finish, and then move them again.) For a video tutorial on using Lightroom's Folders panel to do file reorganization, watch the first video tutorial on this page. If you want to be able to edit photos that reside on the external - without the external plugged in - then build smart previews for those photos (or all your photos. davidg36166309, Synchronize would, by default, remove the missing images from the catalog, so you'd lose all your LR work. If you unchecked Remove Missing Photos, that wouldn't happen, but it wouldn't do anything to resolve the issue (since the images don't need importing - they are already listed in the catalog.)

You don't say what version you upgraded from, but as someone else said, this isn't normally associated with upgrading since your files don't move. If you upgraded from Classic 7 to 8, then try reverting to a catalog backup from right before you updated. If you upgraded from 6 or earlier, go back to your old version and look to see if you're missing the same files in that catalog. If not, then try upgrading that catalog again (in the new version, go to File>Open Catalog, and open and upgrade the old version catalog. Here's what I found in the Adobe Help doc: Currently, with the latest update, the HDR mode is available only for Samsung S8, Samsung S8+, Samsung S7, Samsung S7 Edge, Samsung Note 8, Google Pixel, Google Pixel 2, Google Pixel XL, Google Pixel 2 XL,and One Plus 5 mobile devices. I'd suggest making sure that you have set the LR camera to capture DNG files, and then verify this.

She can either export DNG files, or save to XMP (Metadata>Save Metadata to File) - this will write out the editing into DNG files, or into a sidecar XMP file in the case of proprietary raw files, and then send copies of these. What will be missing: pick/reject flags, step by step edit history. Also, if you use any features that LR 6 doesn't have, such as Range Mask, Dehaze, etc, that work will be missing when you send the files to her. Since she's the photographer and the one with LR 6, she won't be sending you files with missing editing though.

In a nutshell, right-click on the highest level folder with a question mark, choose Find Missing Folder, and navigate to where the folder is on your hard drive and select it. The second video on this page shows this process of finding missing files and folders in Lightroom.

The search feature in the cloud-based Lightroom CC is still there, where you can search "keyword: apples", and you can also use filtering (the funnel icon) by keyword. Search only works with an internet connection; filtering works regardless. Can you please provide a screenshot showing the whole LR interface, in grid view (G)?

Hi Steve, First, there's no need to convert your file - just select your raw file and go to the Print module. There can be many reasons for prints not matching what you see in Lightroom. Here are the top ones. - Most commonly, your monitor is not properly calibrated. Use a device such as a ColorMunki Display to calibrate with. Use the software's ambient light auto-measurement, or start with a luminance in the 80-90 range. You may have to do some test prints and adjust luminance to match. - Regarding color cast: you're using a printer profile but not turning off color management in the printer driver. - Regarding color cast: Printer nozzles are clogged. If you have calibrated your monitor and have checked the second two, then please provide screenshots of your LR and printer settings.

On another note, I would recommend that when you post questions in a forum such as this, use a more descriptive title than "Lightroom Classic CC". A title such as "Using Lightroom on My Desktop and Laptop" would be better. People looking to help usually scan the post titles looking for those that they think they can help with. Maybe it wasn't clear that you were providing a post title.

If you really want to go backwards, then saving the metadata and reimporting is the best that can be done - but expect also to lose virtual copies, pick and reject flags, presence in collections, and step-by-step edit History (but not the edits themselves). That said, installing LR Classic 7.5 on that computer is a better option.

marer1976​, here's what I did to test this: select a photo in LR. Right-click, Show in Finder/Explorer. Duplicate a file right there in that folder (-2, -copy or some other suffix will be added to the file name). Now drag that duplicate to the grid, which will open the import dialog with it selected. Notice that it doesn't become grayed out, even with "Don't import suspected duplicates" checked.

If I am understanding your setup correctly, then I think the process outlined here is unnecessary. Am I correct that you use the laptop at home and while traveling? If so, store your main catalog on the internal drive and use it regardless of where you are. While traveling, when you import you'll specify a Destination for your photos on the internal drive, and then when you get home, you'll use Lightroom's Folders panel to drag the photo to a location on your external drive. No need for exporting/importing of catalogs. To be able to edit all your photos while you're away, without access to the external drive, build smart previews before you go. These are small DNG copies that reside with your catalog (on the internal drive). Here's a video tutorial that explains how Lightroom smart previews work (made with Lightroom 5, but still completely applicable.) When the external is plugged in your editing seemlessly is applied to your master photos.

Unfortunately that's not completely the case, marer1976​ - if you rename the files, Lightroom won't detect that they are duplicates and will let you import them again, even with "Don't import suspected duplicates checked." Wait to rename files until you have imported them all.
