similar to this? Illustrator randomly selects unrelated objects i know it's no consolation really, as there's no real solution, but you can read about other user's workarounds. i have experienced this myself, but very rarely.

hi Nitish, Having just updated to 2017 today I see what the TC means. how does one save profiles to the "Saved" tab in the New Document window? Ref: this button in Photoshop's equivalent window: is this something not implemented in illustrator yet? is it better to keep using the legacy new doc window?

look at the appearance palette with your shape selected. you should be able to see bot the fill and stroke as discrete elements and edit their transparencies separately there. use the little arrow to the left of them to open out the options.

the key here for me was recognising it as a 'grid' of triangles: once you get there, you can use the shape builder tool, or simply delete sections until you have what you want.

you said it yourself, just blends -- between a circle and a squished jelly bean version of the circle. there's no magic and no actual translucency. just solid colour areas. here's a version and its outlines:

i'd assume that (hopefully) it works the same as in previous versions: create an AI file, save it to: C:\Users\User.Name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator XX Settings\en_US\x64\New Document Profiles

no problem. it is one of the confusing facts of the Illustrator interface that 'Basic' is not a brush as such, even though it appears as if you can select it as one. selecting 'basic' is a way of clearing brush attributes from your stroke, i.e. telling illustrator you don't want a brush. then when you try and draw with the brush tool again it just picks the last one used. because the brush tool always uses a brush.

perhaps you'd be better off with the pencil tool rather than brush if you just want a freehand line with a stroke weight.

ken, the reason people are replying with answers that relate to the perspective grid is that there is nothing in illustrator called '3D mode'. there are 3D effects that you might remove by invoking the default fill and stroke, but there is nothing permanent about them. they can be removed at any time from the appearance palette.
