I am somewhat disappointed myself because the browser also kept a record of online PDFs that I accessed. I would welcome a function like this to where I can also remove pdfs from the list that I no longer need. But I do have somewhat of a handy tip for Windows 7 users. It is the "Jump List."  Simply place the Acrobat X icon into the Windows taskbar. By right-clicking on the Acrobat icon,you will see the 10 most recent documents you have opened.  Not enough? Right click on a blank area in the Windows taskbar. Choose Properties,and in the dialog box click on the Start Menu tab,then on the "Customize" button. At the bottom of the "Customize Start Menu" dialog is "Number of Recent Items to display in Jump Lists"  The default is 10. You can set it up to 60. Usually 30 works for me. If it is a Background layer, Easiest way is to double-click on the locked layer in the Layers panel. A dialog will open up giving you options. When you are done setting them, clicking OK makes it a floating  or unlocked layer. ppi is the proper term for image files. It replaced dpi some time back. Image files are composed of pixels not dots. Experiment for yourself. in File > New dialog box and plug in any ppi from 1 to 9999 and look at the imagesize. 1280 x 800 px for an RGB file is 2.93 MB 1 or 9999 ppi. The ppi is just instructions to the printer as to how many pixels should be printed per inch of paper. ... View more

Well,in that case I hope disabling the hotkeys at least fixed the majority of your troubles with the ESC key. I never have anything going on in Photoshop long enough to try using ESC elsewhere. Another thing you might want to try is to disable the "rotate screen" feature in your intel settings and see if there is further improvement. Also be sure you do have the latest drivers. ... I use ACDSee as well. Disabling hotkeys on my Intel 965 settings has done the job since I last posted in this thread two years ago. I can go fullscreen with ACDSee and use the ESC key to get out of it when Photoshop CS4 is running. I think I had further traced it either to a screen rotation feature in my driver,or the hotkeys enabled for that feature. This does fix the problem,but no idea why. ... View more

I decided to pound on this problem and the ATI fix gave me a hint. I right-clicked on the Intel (965)GMA icon in my system tray and clicked on "Disable Hotkeys" which had been enabled by default since I had this laptop. Now the ESC key works normally inside and outside Photoshop. So to Adobe's credit,it was a graphics driver setting that cross threaded with CS4 (and Vista) and not a bug with Photoshop CS4. ... Ok,I've looked at the picture you uploaded. Hmmm... maybe Photoshop's wet media brush set can give you something to work with. There's a #54 Rough Dry brush there that can give the effect,but you may have to go over the parts you want wet. If it's a few Chinese characters,then it shouldn't be too much work. An alternate would be to use a wet brush,then apply the "dry brush" to the eraser tool for effect. Yeah,there should be a brush that can mimic a sumi-e brush,but I haven't found it.
