this is still an issue 8 months later. When I lock my macbook pro and then unlock it I often see a white screen. I need to remove my lumetri colour (or restart premiere) in order to get the visuals back. This is happening in full version and also beta premiere pro. Frustrating.

Would it be different if it were 48khz? I use encore to author discs and it encodes the audio just fine even though I do sometimes use 44.1hkz mp3 songs in tbe films, this isn't what I output in

Hi guys, I create weddings with music and dialogue and create bluray, dvd, usb (h264) copies of the files. Soon, I'll create only a 5.1 h264 and host it online for playback on all devices including smart tvs I have been using .wav files for my music in films because, well, I have them there ready to go built up over the years however they're taking up a lot of space now. I was wondering if you think there is any huge advantage of keeping these as .wav compared to converting them to 320kbps mp3 files? The dialogue would still be 24bit wav format but it's be the background (and often foreground) music that I'd be converting to mp3 instead of wav. Would you advise doing this to save cricual space? There are reasons for the space saving that I won't go into. If I didn't need to do it I'd just keep them as wav. Any advice welcome!

That's fine for me. Essentially the only reason I use it is to seperate the dialogue into the center channel as I find it cuts through the music much better than a stereo orthotics output. I know a lot of consumer home speaker kits simulate surround from stereo but I'm sure it can't sound as good... Can it?!

Thanks guys. So with dtx encoder suite and compressor you need to export your 6 tracks as individual mono tracks first? That isn't going to be practical for me shooting 60 weddings a year each with 4 seperate timelines to be exported for both dvd and bluray. That means 56 exports per wedding competed to the 8 im used to with PC. There's no way to export mpeg dvd or bluray with AAC audio is there?

thanks Kevin, yeah I still have the PC currently but it'd be a real gripe to have to copy an entire project back to the pc just to export the disc copies in 5.1. I am not desperate to use dolby digital, AAC format is perfect for me and what I use for the mp4 files, but AAC does not seem to be selectable with the MPEG-DVD and MPEG-BLURAY presets.

Hi all, I've always used surcode on my PC verson of Premiere to export 5.1 audio for my DVD and Bluray files however I've recently moved to an M1 Mac Studio and surcode is not supported on the M1 system. I am still able to export 5.1 audio as an h.264 mp4 file which I use to give clients on a USB stick however I now cannot export either of the other two formats I need to export (bluray and dvd) in anything other than stereo sound. I saw a youtube video that specifically says that dolby digital should be available in mpeg2-dvd and mpeg2-bluray formats however it was 5 years ago and I think I'm right in saying Premiere stopped offering dolby from 2018 onwards. Am I right in saying that surcode is the ONLY way to export these 5.1 files for disc copies now? If so, what are M1 mac users meant to do?! I usually use encore to encode my discs however I don't have this for mac so I'm a bit stuck there too. Assuming I somehow manage to find encore for mac, can anyone recommend how I can use the 5.1 h.264 file that premiere can export, to then author dvd and blurays without quality loss? i used to use TMPGEnc for premiere plugin to get higher quality bluray exports on PC but guess what, thats not available for mac either... The M1 mac studio is the most powerful editing machine I've ever used, but my hands are tied in so many areas that making the switch to it full time is proving such a headache...

I don't understand how i'm still able to export a 5.1 audio file with no surcode as long as it's in h264 format. Why is the dolby option only there for this and not for mpeg-dvd or mpeg-bluray? Surcode don't support M1 Mac so I'm now stuck with no way of exporting 5.1 files for disc copies of my work 😞

this drives me mad too when making the switch from windows to osx for premiere. In fact, I intend to use both so would really love to find a way re-map the timeline scroll to cmd and scroll instead of option but without changing all of the other commands that need the option key in premiere. Does anyone know of a piece of software that could do this?

Gpu rollback did nothing. Nor did a full clean and install. Adobe have confirmed my gpu is working as it should. It seems there's no solution. Maybe a new £7k mac studio is the only solution 🤐

I've just seen the price of the RME Fireface UFX... it may not be a solution for me but would still be handy to know if it ism in theory, possible. The thing is, I can output 5.1 via my cheapo soundcard to a cheapo logitech 5.1 kit and it'd be amazing, BUT every time I open premiere, I need to switch windows sound control panel back to stereo, then back to 5.1 again for premiere to recognise it. This is a decade old flaw of premiere sadly

that'd be great if you get time to have a try Steve. Yes indeed the multiples of 2 with the MME drivers certainly confused both adobe and focusrite when i did my testing.. The issue I have with ASIO4ALL is if I switch to a web browser or a media player to listen to an audio file before I drag it into premiere, for example, it all goes wrong!

I bought a scarlet 6i6 in order to monitor on 5.1 in premiere with passive speakers however couldn't get it to work without asio4all. Premiere recognised 3 pairs of stereo outputs instead of 6 individuals. Focusrite support confirmed that there was no way around this. Can anyone suggest a USB interface that would allow me to map individual outputs to certain speakers in premiere?

this one "Or are you able to select a LUT, but see no effect for doing so?" When I installed premiere 21 to try, the input lut option was greyed out and not selectable at all but in premiere 22 the lut can be applied, however you can not see the effect of it in the source window. If I add lumetri colour effect to clips on the timeline and then select the same lut, then you can see the effect fine, but in the interpret footage, input lut option, there is no visible effect until I switch off CUDA acceleration and switch to software only. Then can see the lut take effect. I have updated geforce drivers to the latest one, however I am now considering rolling this back to see if it makes a difference. to confirm, I didn't really use premiere for a couple of months so cant confirm whether or not this issue started when I updated GPU drivers or not. Adobe have suggested a full preferences reset and clean install which I will try when I finish my current project. At first Adobe tried to tell me the clip I was using was incompatble with this feature, however when i explained that the same clip behaved as it should on my macbook with the same lut then they accepted they were wrong on that one...

I just did this and it made no difference. again, when I switch to software only (instead of CUDA) the LUT appears. Do you think this could be a faulty GPU or a setting in the nvidia software maybe?

I love the new input lut feature of premiere 22 meaning you can apply a lut to a batch of clips in your source window whilst scrubbing through them. It works a treat on my M1 macbook pro but doesn't work on my pc (I have an RTX2070, 64gb ram, Ryzen 5950x) unless I turn murcury playback off and switch to software only rendering. Anyone got any ideas?

I'm using 22.1.2 on pc but have the exact same issue on my m1 macbook pro. Whenever I push my hotkey for increased playback speed forward (shuttle right it's called in keyboard shortcut) which is invaluable when skimming through a project, the playhead freezes, the play/pause button stop working (both keyboard shortcut and on screen in the program window) and the video pauses. Audio continues and it often hangs like this sometimes for 10 seconds plus. It's a really crippling bug for me and it never used to be like this. Any suggestions?

Same issue here on Mac (doesnt happen for me on Pc but it is laggy). On Mac you cant even stop playback by pushing space or stop for a good 10 seconds or so. 1. What did you use to record your footage? A7S III (4k and 1080p have the same problem) 2. Would you be able to share the .prproj file by uploading it to a share service like Google Drive or Dropbox? We don't need the media, just the .prproj - YES 3. What workspace do you typically work in? - A CUSTOM ONE BASED ON THE EDITING PRESET 4. Have you already tried updating your graphics drivers, resetting your preferences, and clearing your cache? - GPU DRIVERS YES, HAVE NOT RESET PREFERENCES, HAVE CLEARED CACHE.

I've just updated to premiere cc v15 and it seems that the test footage I have from an a7siii now works with quicksync. I put the same clip back into version v14 and it didnt work so adobe have definitely updated something!

I'd be very interested to hear any thoughts on this too. As is often the case with Adobe, the chance of hearing anything from them is slim to none, however I can confirm that as it stands (dec 2020) 10 big h265 files from the A7SIII do not utilise quicksync in the current version of premiere pro cc. I won't be buying an A7SIII until it does so I really hope Adobe can implament this soon.
