I tried placing that same photo into InDesign CS6 and it had the same issue. The area that is not showing is a yellow/orange color. If I save just that yellow area part of the photo separately, it places and is visible in InDesign. I could use the solution of placing two separate pieces of the photo into InDesign, grouping them and putting the group into a frame.

There is a problem with one of my placed images. Part of it does not show in InDesign. I have tried saving the photo as PSD. JPG, TIF -- the same prolem happens. In the Links panel thumbnail, the whole photo appears correctly. When I place the photo, while it is still in my cursor thumbnail it appears correctly. But once it is placed on the page, part of the photo is missing. I found that if I open the photo in Photoshop and drag it into InDesign, the photo displays correctly. But NOT when it is placed.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I now understand that the email links in Acrobat are unreliable. I don't understand why the feature is even in the software since it may or may not work. (Retorical comment, made in frustration with a buggy feature that has caused a lot of wasted time.)

The email application on the computer is Microsoft Outlook 2019. Perhaps there is an incorrect setting in Outlook or in Chrome, but I wouldn't know where to find it.

Okay, I get it that email links in a PDF are not a good ideal. But that is aside from the fact that it is a feature that simply doesn't work the way it's supposed to.

Another strange phenomenon.. Even though I choose URL and type mailto: in front of the email in the Hyperlinks panel in InDesign, InDesign automatically changes the settings to Email and removes mailto:.

I have tried both URL with mailto: in front of the email address and also tried choosing Email and entering the email address without typing mailto: in front of it. Neither method works. If I use URL and mailto: in front of the email address, Acrobat tries to open a web page. If I use Email and don't type mailto: in front of the email address, nothing happens when the link is clicked.

I am using the most current version of InDesign and Acrobat on Windows 10. To create an email hyperlink in InDesign I choose URL and type mailto: in front of the email address with no spaces. I am not using Shared Hyperlink Destination. When I export to PDF the email links don't work correctly. Instead of opening the email application, they try to open a web page. In InDesign, even though I specify URL and put mailto: in front of the email address when I re-open the Hyperlinks panel and choose Edit Hyperlink, the link has changed back to Email and the mailto text has disappeared. I have not made this change -- InDesign is doing it automatically behind my back. How can I create an email hyperlink in InDesign that actually works in the exported PDF?

Some have Mac versions. It's probably not critical. Although it seems like there are more utilities for Windows that have to do with technical issues.

I have an iPhone but my desktop and laptop are Windows PCs. My Windows PC desktop and laptop are very old and I need to buy new computers. I have been using Windows to run Adobe applications and have several utilities unrelated to Adobe that run on Windows. The application I use the most are Adobe programs and the Microsoft suite. I'd like to hear pros and cons of staying with Windows or changing to Mac.

I'm using the action to process one image at a time. Thanks for bringing my attention to Photoshop's built-in Image Processor script. That worked without adding 'copy' to the file name. My action included the 'Close' command, which the processor doesn't seem to have, but it would be simple enough to close all open files when the script completes. I had an image open when I recorded my action and that image was saved without adding 'copy', but when running the action 'copy' was added to every image. This is what the action looks like. It's strange that I turned off 'copy' in preferences and yet the action includes it.

I have a bunch of PSD files that need to be saved as JPG files. I created an action to do that. In Preferences > File Handling, I have checked Do Not Append Copy. However, when I play the action, it invariably appends 'copy' to the end of the file name. How can I save my PSD files as JPG and NOT have Photoshop append the word 'copy'?

I am using Captivate version 7 on Windows 10 and trying to record a video demo. Captivate does not record the area within the red rectangle. My monitor is high resolution and I think this has to do with the monitor resolution. I searched the web and there are instructions to change the DPIAwareness in the AdobeCaptivat.ini file. I do not see that setting. Below is what my AdobeCaptivate.ini file looks like. I hope that someone can tell me how to fix this problem. Those are all important points and warnings. Thank you! I have so many images that I will need a minimum of 7 TB to back them up. I'm trying to make a decision about exactly which storage to purchase for peace of mind. (Possibly the 10TB drive that D Fosse mentioned?)

Good idea. I saved as IDML, reopened the document and still have the same issues. I'm wondering if the problem is that hyperlink sources are on master pages and hyperlink destinations are on regular layout pages.

For some reason, your suggestion isn't working. Much of the instructions in the URL you provided are not working either. This InDesign document is going to eventually be saved as PDF. There are source hyperlinks on the master pages that have destinations on the regular layout pages. If I save as PDF, the source and destinations do work correctly. Should the InDesign hyperlinks be set up differently to make it easier to edit them in InDesign and so that the instructions will work?
