I'm still working on this specific issue and the latest update is we may have found a way to reproduce a symptom of it, but not the frequent hangs people describe.  To that end I have done a series of connect sessions with users and have yet to see the problem occur on any remote system.  I will repeat my offer from before, if someone is seeing this issue and lives west of the rockies and wouldn't mind hosting me for a few hours to work on this, I'd be happy to get on a plane and visit.  I'm sure my email info is somewhere in the thread above. I do happen to have an update We have some users who have reported the following: Tonight I disabled the middle button for Ps in Wacom prefs and I've been able to actually use the brush for a whole 30 minutes now without a hang! The biggest change we made to the application (wrt Performance) for CS6 is that the default tile size on many systems has changed from 128K to 1024K.  To compare Apples to Apples, change the tile size Photoshop Preferences > Performance in CS6 back to 128K (just like CS5 or 5.5) and see if things are the same. I'm currently putting together a list of things that people are saying run slower in CS6 so if you have a performance problem that doesn't involve moving elements around the document windows with tons of layers, then please let me know. We are aware of a couple of performance issues specific to moving elements around the document window.  If you are seeing something else that's slow, please let us know. I do believe there is a problem specific to application focus on Mac (that's causing the app to "hang" until you switch out and back).  We still have yet to find a way to reproduce the issue in-house, but now that I'm back from vacation I can start focusing on getting this one figured out and hopefully resolved.  I'm going to email those that volunteered earlier to have me visit their systems in-person, and I'll ask again - if anyone is located anywhere west of the rockies and would like to volunteer to help, I can fly out and try to debug this on your system (California bay area is ideal, but I'm flexible). We haven't given up and FWIW I'd still really like to figure this one out.  I was out of the office on vacation and now that I'm back at work I'm ready to re-engage here. Both of you seem to be working with smaller files (size in MB) with lots of layers.  One thing that has changed from CS4/CS5 to CS6 is the default tile size for some systems with multiple processors and a good amount of RAM.  I would suggest going to the Performance preferences and changing the tile size from 1024K to 128K.  This will help speed up opening your files and should make working with those "web" files much better. ... The solution is to figure out which other app(s) are causing Photoshop to hang and then make whatever change is necessary to ensure that other apps can run concurrently with PS without it hanging   That's where I need everyone's help.  The next step here is to identify which app(s) when run along with PS trigger the hang.  Any extra information that can be provided would be greatly appreciated. Our suspicion is that the hangs when using CS6 are due to another application running at the same time as PS and stealing focus from it.  Can you reproduce the hang if Photoshop CS6 is the only app running?  If not, what other applications do you have running when PS hangs?  If we can narrow down which app (or apps) aren't playing nice with PS (or vice-versa) that'll go a long way to helping us get this issue resolved. Anders, Does this hang only occur when you're using the Wacom tablet, or does it also occur if you use a mouse to drive the app? (each data point will help me narrow down what's happening here) Also, you can try to sample the app when it is hung using Activity Monitor.  To do so, select the Photoshop CS6 process and click the Sample Process icon in the top left of the Activity Monitor dialog UI.  If you do get a sample, I'll have you email it to me directly. Does it always sit on 100% CPU (like right after you launch PS), or does it do that only after you've done certain functions in the app? It would really help if you could say I did X, Y, and Z and then PS starts using 100% CPU. Have you tried disabling "Use Graphics Processor" in the performance preferences?  You can also try changing the setting from the default (advanced) to Basic and see if that helps. Finally, I'd suggest lowering the total amount of RAM allocated to Photoshop to 70% to see if that helps with overall performance.
