It may be time to reset your Illustrator preferences. There may be some corruption since this behavior had not previously been happening. To reset prefs: For Macintosh Users: With Illustrator closed launch a Finder Window in column view and click on your home folder. With the Option Key pressed choose Library from the Finder Go Menu. Within the Library folder find the following two files and delete them: “Adobe Illustrator <Version #> Settings” (earlier versions of Illustrator might just say “Adobe Illustrator”) and “com.adobe.Illustrator.plist”. When Illustrator is next launched it will create new preference files and the program will be restored to its defaults. After you’ve reset up the program (make sure that no document window is open) to your liking, it is a really good idea to create copies of your personalized “mint” preference files (make sure that you quit the program before copying them—that finalizes your customization) and use them in the future to replace any corrupt versions you may need to delete. For Windows Users: Hold down Ctrl + Alt + Shift when launching Illustrator and respond affirmatively when asked if you want to reset.

Have you tried printing it out directly from th InDesign file? Also try printing a page of the pdf from Photoshop to help narrow down the problem.

Are there paragraph, character and/or table styles created in your new document? Are there also styles that were created in the document that you are copying from. If there are styles in the original document that have the same names as styles in your new document but have different attributes then the ones in the new document that are different will take precedence and change your content accordingly. If this is the case simply change the names in the new document before pasting in the tables.

The keyboard command for italics is Shift-Command-i. My tests with in InDesign CC 2017 showed that it will change the Roman version of the font to the same weight italic. Command-i activates the Spell Check feature.

Happy to help. By the way after you create the gradient drag the square that shows the gradient in the upper left of the panel into the Swatches Panel so that it will stay available for future use.

If what you're asking is how do I sample a placed image for color to create a gradient based on those colors. See screen shot below: In the first picture above I sampled the gold and when I did it shows up in the fill square in the Gradient Panel. I then drag it to the left of the gradient bar and a gradient stop with that color is created. I then sampled the brown of the window sill and moved its color to the right of the gradient bar.

https://forums.adobe.com/people/rob+day wrote Please note that with Duplex printing you will have to make sure that you’ve set the job up in printer spreads including having the front and back cover on a spread together in order for all of the pages to come out correctly. Even if FatFish arranges the pages as printer spreads, the spreads will not fit on an A4 sheet. Print Booklet feature is there so you don't have to set up a document as printer spreads, which would create all sorts of design problems. OOps. I had it in my head that he was printing the A5s portrait on the sheet.

A job like this would not need to be printed using the booklet feature. It can be printed using InDesign's regular Print dialog box. See screen shot below: In the general tab make sure that spreads is chosen (first picture above). In the setup tab (second picture) choose the A4 paper size and orient it landscape. Also choose center alignment. The Duplex settings will depend on your Printer but should be able to be accessed through the Printer button on the bottom of the dialog box. Once into your Printers dialog there should be a Printers Features option which should in turn provide the Duplex option. When you’ve chosen all of the options then you should be able to send it to print. Please note that with Duplex printing you will have to make sure that you’ve set the job up in printer spreads including having the front and back cover on a spread together in order for all of the pages to come out correctly. All of this being said I must warn you that jobs are not usually printed out to size like this. Printers are not able to print right to the edge and so unless everything has a comfortable margin from the edges content may be lost. The usual process is to print a job on paper larger than the trim size using crop marks and bleed and then having the job cut to size.

Unless the printer specifcally requests otherwise jobs that are to be spiral (coil) bound should always be set up as single pages because of the bleed issue. Left and Right Page Masters can be created with elements that go across the gutters appropriately duplicated and applied as needed and bleed and auto-page numbers can be added. As long as “Allow Document Pages to Shuffle” is unchecked pages with images that will traverse the spreads can be temporarily put into spreads and images can be duplicated and adjusted as needed. When that is done activate “Allow Document Pages to Shuffle” and you’ll be asked if you want to maintain the number of pages per spread. Respond “No” and the pages will go back to singles.

BobLevine wrote CS5, IIRC, was the only version to default to immediate for live screen redraw. It was a disaster as anything other than small documents slowed to a crawl. I would leave it at delayed and use the PUM (patient user mode) when you need it. Bob is right about the history of this feature but since CS5 is the version you're moving over from you're probably used to the speed issues. If you do find it cumbersome in CC 2017 then it is certainly simple to turn it off.

This to me does not seem like normal behavior. It's possible that resetting your InDesign preferences might help. To do so: For Macintosh Users: With InDesign closed launch a Finder Window in column view and click on your home folder. With the Option Key pressed choose Library from the Finder Go Menu. Within the Library folder find the following two files and delete them: “Adobe InDesign” and “com.adobe.InDesign.plist”. For Windows Users: Hold down Ctrl + Alt + Shift when launching InDesign and respond affirmatively when asked if you want to reset. It's a long shot in this case and somebody else might have another thought about what's causing your problem but resetting certainly seems worth a try.

Have you tried opening up the bottom of the text frames that have been reragging prior to converting to single pages? If the problem is not happening universally then allowing a bit more room so that text won't flip to another frame for the offending frames might help.

There is also a Preference that can be set in the Interface tab of the InDesign Preferences called “Live Screen Drawing”. Set it for Immediate. Do this with no files open and it will become your default behavior once you have quit InDesign and reopened it. See screen shot:

I could not make my text reflow as yours did when I took a long document that was single pages set up in spreads and converted it to single pages set up singly to add bleed. So I wonder if the method that you are using to make your document into single pages set up singly is the problem. I am assuming that the reason that you’ve been able to make spreads with single pages is that “Allow Document Pages To Shuffle” under the Pages Panel pull-down is unchecked. If that is the case then check it and you will be asked if you want the spreads to be maintained as they are. Say No and the document will automatically become single pages set up singly. When I tested this and any time I’ve done it in the past text did not reflow.

The problem with Rob's suggestion is that tiled pages will be equal dimensions where the specifications of this job are for pages of different dimensions. I do agree that talking to the printer first is always the best course of action.

I assume that the art you’re using is a single raster image. I would create the file as a 1/4 size InDesign file making sure that the image comes in at 400 ppi since as you said the final resolution needs to be 100 ppi at its final size. I would create the file to the size that the full size illustration is as shown in your top image. I would set the file up with a bleed that incorporates the overlap you need plus probably about .25 inch extra (which will be a full inch when it is output at 400%). When I put in the image I would make sure that there is enough bleed and overlap for the overall image but would temporarily keep the graphic frame closed to the trim. I would then add the six pages that you show in the lower half of your screen shot using the page tool to make each page exactly the size it needs to trim to. Then I would go back to the first page that has the original full image and select it. In the control panel I would set the reference point icon to upper left and put in the width and height that matches the top left panel that you’ve shown (and also matches the dimensions that you’ve created page two of your document to). With the graphic frame now cropped to the size needed copy and paste it into page two at the upper left coordinates of 0,0. Then open the graphic frame for page one back to its original full size. Next change the reference point icon in the control panel to the top center and change the size of the page one graphic frame to the top center (and page three of your document) size. Then copy and paste that one onto the appropriate page (three). Repeat this process for all of the remaining sizes. When you’ve placed all of the pieces onto the appropriate pages you can delete the first full page. At this point you can pull out the graphic frames on each page to make the bleed. If you’ve done this carefully all of your trims should match exactly if they were played side by side and you’ll have the overlap and bleed you need. One final word of warning: In order for this all to work the total dimensions of the separated pages must equal exactly the trim size of the full graphic (keeping in mind that we’re working at 25% of final trim size). Any variance from this will throw off all of the calculations.

I assume that you are saying that the option to move pages to a new document is there in the Move Pages command from the Pages Panel drop-down and the other document is showing but is either greyed out or the process won’t complete. Moving pages in this manner is usually a simple matter, even with different page sizes, so it may be that deleting your preference file might be necessary. To do so: With InDesign closed launch a Finder Window in column view and click on your home folder. With the Option Key pressed choose Library from the Finder Go Menu. Within the Library folder find the following two files and delete them: “Adobe InDesign” and “com.adobe.InDesign.plist”. When InDesign is next launched it will create new preference files and the program will be restored to its defaults. After you’ve reset up the program (make sure that no document window is open) to your liking, it is a really good idea to create copies of your personalized “mint” preference files (make sure that you quit the program before copying them—that finalizes your customization) and use them in the future to replace any corrupt versions you may need to delete.

It’s possible that I’m remembering the grouping thing from the era of that other page layout program but I do have a pretty distinct memory of working for the first time on an InDesign upgrade and finding it possible to inline a group and and thinking that it’s about time. At any rate the point of my post was to provide an alternate way to inline a grouped object.

I’m not sure which version of InDesign was the first to allow you to paste a grouped object inline but it may be that your original file was from before that time and it may not be updating parts of it when bringing it into CC 2015. However, there is a way that might work nonetheless assuming you have updated the file to CC 2015. Select the grouped object and you will see a blue square in the upper right of the selection. With the shift key pressed drag the blue box into the spot within text you want the object inlined and it should become part of the text. Had you not pressed the shift the object would become anchored where it stood but would move along with the text. Hopefully this newer method of inlining will work for you.
