IT'S EXPRESSIONS. And I think it started when they moved to JavaScript.  I find if there are no expressions, the child remains in the same position but if there are expressions it moves. Parent first, expressions second. And this is because the values update on the child based on the parent, which changes the expression. It is a seperate issue and I don't think anyone is going to change it. I just don't want any incrementing at all unless it adds COPY to the original filename. If you have item_01, item_02, item_03 and you duplicate item_02 it becomes item_04 so I have no idea it is actually a version of item_02. Doesn't sound like an issue, unless you use version numbers and dates and sequential asset ordering and you don't import things all at the same time. If I import an asset called frame_222035 often AE will increment it's number so I can no longer find it at all. I have had this now for a year or so, so not sure when it started. I do not think it is a system specific thing. But if it is, it may be Ryzen/Threadripper Pro based. It may be Samsung 980 Pro based. It may be that I render to the AE cache drive on slot 3 of ASUS  WRX80 motherboard.  I always render to the same RENDER folder. Previous versions of AE always remembered this.  That way I ALWAYS knew where my renders went. But in the past 1 or 2 full versions of AE it says render location not specified on start up and occassionally on project opening. There is definitiely a bug that is meaning the defailt location is not being stored. If I use an animation preset before rendering, it defaults to that location. So the default location is the last place AE has been, but only in this session. Hopefuly this issue can be replicated and troubleshot as it is a major workflow issue, especially for automated rendering with Dataclay ... View more

No professional workstation should have geforce experience or game drivers. You are inviting more errors really. Just regularly check for new studio drivers, don't select gfe, choose custom and perform clean install.  Good to know the latest game driver worked for you.   Good to know turning off hardware in both the preview AND import preferences emptying and cleaning cache and restarting ae worked for me.    ... I don't think people are used to turning off hardware support in IMPORT page of preferences as well as the display page. Then enjoying and cleaning cache AND restarting AE. Suspect if most people do that they won't need to use the ancient driver. H264 decode has only been in Nvidia cards for ten years so Adobe won't have figured out how to implement it yet!  ... isn't that exactly what your disk cache is? MOst source files already playback in realtime if your disk is fast enough. So get nvme, or two, or four, raid them together and make them your cache. See if changing prefetch settings is needed to bypass RAM like ioFX had to... Put OS on an SATA SSD if you only have one nvme ... View more

Sometimes though,  you pick whip to parent a layer and the layer moves. I would like to know what would cause this. Parenting to an object that has scaled to 0 goes wrong, but if the parent is scaled to 1% before parenting, it works. Nah it doesn't fix it. I reset to standard workspaces but it still pops up offscreen. Wiggedy WAC. It took twenty years to get scopes in a video app though so I am not expecting much. It seems weird that it still thinks I have the monitor layout I had when it was installed. It has always been like this. I remember  hitting enter on invisible dialogue boxes in 4.1. C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\CEP\extensions\LogiOptionsAdobe\jsx is exactly where I found it in Windows 11 and latest Adobe updates. Delete the Premiere one and it goes away. If you change your universal transmitter it comes back though, at least that is the only reason I can think for it coming back. It is Logitech not Adobe who are both lame and at fault.  ... View more
