It looks to me the initial image you are seeing is from the built in, included, JPG preview recorded inside a RAW file and once LR gets done reading the real RAW file it builds its own preview which will not include the In Camera settings you have applied. To my knowledge this is true for 99% of cameras on the market today. None of the In Camera settings are carried over to the RAW files, they wouldn't be RAW files if they were carried over. RAW is RAW sensor data with no in camera processing. Now I may be wrong as the only Canon camera I own is an older S90 P&S but no matter what In Camera settings I have set the RAW file is still the RAW file and does not show those In Camera settings. ... Are you recording and importing JPG or RAW (CR2) files or both? Sounds like you are making changes to how the camera records JPG images but you are shooting and importing RAW images which don't use those in camera settings. Post a picture of the cameras LCD screen showing what the images looks like on the camera and a LR screen capture of the same image. ... View more

Are you using an Apple Branded CD/DVD external Superdrive? If so that is more then likely the problem. These drive are prone to failures and or not being able to read certain DVD discs. Make sure Lightroom is Shut Down. on OS X just closing a window you are working in does not close the program. A .lock file is always created when a catalog is opened. That is to stop other instances of LR from opening that same catalog. If you are unsuccessful in deleting the the .lock file them you have other problems with your Mac. ... View more

Not that I know of. Adobe has never allowed using any license for a newer version on an older version. The other day I was on the Product page of the Adobe site and they did list older versions for sale. When I clicked on the link to Buy LR it took me to a page that had a list of older version. But sadly that was for the Upgrade versions which you can use as you don't have a qualifying previous version to use with an Upgrade serial number. If that is true then you are doing something wrong. But it is my suspicion that the Adobe rep you talked to was referring to the Subscription based product, CC 2015, and not the Stand Alone version, LR 6.x. I do know that was the case with older versions, 5 and before. If installed on a PC first the second computer also had to be a PC. Adobe has little to no actual company support for any of their products and basically NONE for Non Subscription based products. Also whoever you talked to didn't really work for Adobe. The point of making backups on the same drive is for cases like yours. LR doesn't lose 6 months of work. Been using LR since version one and I've never had this happen to me. Could be you accidentally opened your older LR 5 catalog and then LR CC/6 converted it to a LR 6 catalog which would of lost all the work you had done in CC/6. Or you have more than one catalog file and for some reason you opened the wrong one? One that was 6 months old?
