No problems for me.   My suggestion: Restore your IinDesign preferences.  The easiest way is to go to Preferences > General. At the bottom of the panel, see the button and click. Then quit out of InDesign. When you open InDesign you will have restored your preferences. ... View more

As a simple example, I created three ellipses with the Ellipse tool. (If you know how to use the Pen and path editing tools, the frames can be more imaginative). They don't have to be text frames.   Choose the Text tool, and click in the first frame which makes it into a text frame. Choose File > Place and choose your text or Word document. It will flow into the first frame. With the Selection tool,, clickl the red + to continue the flow and click on the second frame. Continue this through other frames.   ... View more

If you're "floating" your InDesign window on your screen, it's unlikely InDesign will be able to remember the size the of the window after you go into Presentation mode.   Instead, create a "fixed" InDesign window by turning on Window > Application Frame. By default, InDesign 19.5 when creating AI generated photo hides the image.   One workaround: (1) Create a folder to put the image, (2) Select the AI image in the Links panel and choose Embed, (3) With the embedded image selected, choose Unembed, and choose NOT to use the original image but choose the folder you created. Here's what the Links panel looks like:  My illustration shows a linked TIFF image stored on my hard drive. Usually you should see in the middle of the graphic an object officially called the "Content Grabber" which I usually describe as an "donut hole". You can see it my illustration. You may have turned it off. If you choose View > Extras > Show Content Grabber it will appear like I showed in the first picture above..   If you click in that area, you select the graphic itself (not the frame) and If you click and drag the picture gets moved within the graphic frame (iusing the white arrow Direct Selection tool does the same).   So if the frame doesn't move, it may be because you dragged in the wrong place.             ... What can be confusing with images in InDesign is that when you look at a graphic in a frame, there are two outlines—the graphic frame that contains the picture, and the graphic itself.   The Red color graphic frame takes its color from the layer you're on in the Layers panel.     The blue link icon is, as Robert points out, an indication that the graphic is NOT embedded, but is LINKED, usually to a placed graphic. The graphic could be stored on your computer, or on an external server. Also, as Robert says, you can see more about the link in the Links panel.
