Thanks SteveG "it's nowhere near 2GB" When you say that you need to be sure that the total of all files that are referenced in the session don't total 2gb. You MAY also find that if a file has several clips the entire file may be embedded more than once. To make sure you are working on the right problem try routing the output back to another input in Audition. If Audition can record what is going and (and back in) then the problem is with the other apps

The Audition session should be the same sample rate as that of the audio interface otherwise Audition will have to resample on the fly which will waste a lot of processing power. I would also suggest setting the sample rate of the Presonus to something much lower than 96k (if that is an option) as all you are really doing is wasting hard disk space (as well as possibly resampling on the fly) for no real benefit.

In Preferences > Audio Hardware is the Device Class "ASIO" if not can you select an ASIO driver? The Device is obviously TASCAM I assume? "I have left output to my regular speakers on the laptop, however, as I don't have an external speaker for the Tascam unit." This makes me think that your internal audio interface is playing a role in this issue

Without knowing your OS or audio interface I'll assume you are on a PC so you may need to download ASIO4All and use that as your audio driver this should allow you to redirect your PC audio to a channel you can record from

Thanks for sharing. I had Waves 11 and found no-issue with Audition. I have since rolled back to Waves 10 but that has nothing to do with Audition. That is not to negate your experience but just to point out that this probably isn't happening across the board. Anyway, good to know

It sounds like there might be something left in the buffer. I know you said 'every time' but to clarify, does this happen the very first time you hit play? Does it happen in both Multitrack and Wavform views? Does it happen if you just drag a sound file into the multitrack? If so is the audio file the same sample rate as the session sample rate? What audio interface are you using? What version of Audition? Mac or PC? Any other info you can add?

There are many ways to achieve this. You could create a bus that outputs to a seperate hardware output for monitoring eg Headphones and you could Send your vocal track out or music track out to that bus at a higher or lower level

They would be the Line & Inst buttons on each of your inputs However, if the input gain is too hot it would be distorted all the time not just every now and then. So because it is intermittent I would be looking at a faulty lead or some other interference If the issue is at regular intervals (ie the same length of time between appearing) it could be because you have some trial FX installed

Hmmm, ASIO4all doesn't seem to have those settings available. What is your audio interface? Does it have 4 physical inputs? Does it have an ASIO driver? If so why are you using ASIO4all? Are you recording with effects? If so are they internal Audition fx or 3rd party?

The sesx thinks that the file should be here C:\Users\user\Documents\Scalable Solutions Podcast\survey2\Conformed Files\survey 44100 1.wav If it isn't there then it has been deleted or moved - maybe search your PC for it?

Not sure how long 'long' is but the best advice I can offer is to make sure your media is located on the fastest internal SSD drive you have and your primary temp file is also located on an SSD drive - ideally not the same one

Given that you are the Audacity user it may be that you are the best person to supply such a mapping? Best way to start is to go to the man menu and choose Effects From there you can access such effects as Compression, Pitch Shift, various Equalisers and Phaser, etc How they differ (or not) to Audacity would be something only an Audacity user might know.
