What you are trying to accomplish will not happen with a multiple record data merge. Even though some things are working, like the auto fill text frame, and the step and repeat function of multiple record. Here is a workaround you can try. It requires multiple steps and a plugin. First you would do a single record data merge. Then using the Auto Stitch plugin, you would thread all records into one continuous text thread.

A placed link with overprint does not show up as a preflight error in Indesign. The fact that it disappears with overprint preview, sounds like it's a graphic, And would need the overprint turned off in Illustrator.

As far as I know, there is no solution to preventing unwanted navigation in Acrobat/Reader. There is a workaround that might work, and that really depends on the amount of content/pages in the presentation. If there is a low amount of content, you could create a PDF with just one page. Each button would show and hide additional content, rather than navigate to another page.

First, create a swatch for the gray, make sure that it is a spot color. Then, from the swatch panel flyout, select New Mixed Ink Swatch. Then create your duotone mix of gray and black.

The Pathfinder tool in Indesign is not as extensive as Illustrator. The workaround would be to do this in 2 steps. Before performing the action, copy the objects. Once the first action is completed, power paste the objects and either modify the cutting shape or change the pathfinder action to achieve the desired object.

As Bob mentioned previously: Publish Online does not support form fields. Even though you can create a form field, and then Publish Online, the form field will not display at all in published format. The Text Field is used for fillable form PDFs that you create in Indesign and then export to PDF. The PDF can be distributed in various ways, and also the data collected can be captured in various ways. This process is not done exclusively within Indesign, and requires Acrobat.

The instructions you posted are for creating form fields in Acrobat from a regular PDF that did not previously have forms. If you have created the form fields in Indesign, you do not need these instructions. But keep in mind there are more things involved that require working in Acrobat to make this PDF an online form.

Drop shadows and Bevel effects are Resolution Independent Effects (RIE). What ultimately dictates the resolution of these objects are the devices that renders or rasterizes the object. While object is in Indesign, the drop shadow or bevel effect is limited to monitor resolution. If you flattened this object, you will rasterize the effect based on the flattener setting selected and of course remove the resolution independence aspect.

What Avery template number are you using? Make a frame the size of the badge, then group the art and text holder with this frame. Then position the group in the upper left hand corner. In the Merge panel, the margins will match the margins of the Avery template, and the spacing will match the gutters of the label as well.

I downloaded your file and opened in CC 2015. I used your specs, and did the merge, but did not have the unwanted fourth row generated, the merge came out as expected. Perhaps, there is something up with CC 2017

You can create in Indesign a radio button, check box or combo list form element that can have multiple actions based on the choice the user makes in the PDF. The Yes choice could advance a user to the next page, however, there is no way to prevent a user from navigating to any pages within a PDF they like. The form element can have actions that could hide and show other elements. And, in effect, create the situation of allowing or preventing a user to do things based on prior choices.

There is a difference in the two conversions and can be seen in this comparison: If you read the values of the two conversions, there is no more than a 2 percent difference throughout. And IMO, the conversion used will not have any significant difference in the finished printed results.

If you are exporting PDF, then all fonts are embedded. The only thing you can control is subsetting, based on percentage used value. If you are writing Postscript and Distilling, then you can control embedding. In the postscript, it's complete, none or subset. In Distiller, you can control specific fonts to be always or never embedded. If you are exporting, this is a moot point.

Are you on Mac or Windows? I use a Mac utility called "A Better Finder Rename", which rename files from spreadsheets or text files. I export a multipage PDF, then use Acrobat to extract to single page PDFs, then use the utility to custom rename all of individual PDFs.

Acrobat purposely restricts the fonts available for form fields. In Acrobat, I can assign any font active on my system in a form field. And have noticed that the font is embedded into PDF and available to use on a computer that does not have particular font.
