Double click on the smart objects - they will open as new documents. Drop your pieces in there - save - don't save as, just save in the smart object and they will show up.

Try transform, warp. You don't have to get the images perfect to make them look like they are on the pages.

I had a student with the same problem but it was intermittent. Check your Creative Cloud app and make sure it's working and connected. Try resetting the preferences in Photoshop.

Is your main hard drive full? By default PS uses your main internal hard drive as it's primary scratch disk. You need to clean out your hard drive. I had this issue the other day teaching in a lab - all the computers were full. I had to delete a bunch of junk on 13 machines so my students and I could get through the day.

Hey Kelly - I found another work around for you. If you open your 300ppi in photoshop and then drag and drop it into your new document, it goes in correctly. The little tiny image was dragged and dropped from my desktop - and it comes in as smart object. The full size image came from the inside of PS - just dragged it over - did not come in as a smart object.

I just tested this on my Windows Surface - I think it's a bug. I made a 600x600 300ppi image on my Mac. On the Surface, I made a 600x600 px 72ppi document in PS - dropped the 300ppi image in there and it came in tiny and said it was 100%. There is a disconnect in there with the ppi settings and pixel dimensions. Realizing the disconnect - I just did the same exact thing on my mac - with a normal monitor. This has absolutely nothing to do with the monitor. And I repeated your issue. A suggestion, something you can try - is to create an action that opens your images and resets the ppi to 72. I know it's not an ideal solution, but should work for now. Report it: Feature Request/Bug Report Form

In your options bar you have the tool set to current layer. However, you have the bottom layer active with 2 layers above turned on. Change the setting to all layers...

I wish I taught in London! Seriously considering moving there for a few years - I have a reluctant teenager who doesn't want to go. I'm in Colorado, but I teach online - so my students are all over. HTML is easy - CSS is a bit more complicated. You want an understanding of it and let Dreamweaver create the CSS for you - if you mess it up, your whole page will break. Many places to get great training online, like Nancy said. In my experience, you can get pretty far on your own. People come to me when they get tripped up with the CSS. There are some concepts that are more easily understood with someone holding your hand through the process. I'm not the only trainer around, but there don't seem to be many of us teaching Dreamweaver these days. I just double checked... nope, never happened for me. That doesn't negate your issue - I somehow managed to crash Photoshop and lock up my entire computer while testing this for you... Hopefully someone from Adobe will see this post and look at it for you.

I don't know - I've never has this happen to me. My suggestion would be to align your main object to the artboard - that way you know for sure it's should be there.

Take a class! I teach DW to complete beginners. We start with HTML and CSS. It's not DW that is complicated, it's CSS. And, osgood, DW is mobile friendly, creating a custom page from scratch or using a bootstrap teplate. Dreamweaver is not an app you just start using - unless you are comfortable with HTML & CSS.

Are you moving and transforming your images? I really need more information to help you - here are some assumptions. Several things to consider: Moving an image from one to another that are different sizes - if you are moving a small image to a large file and making the small image larger, you will lose quality. Moving a large image to a smaller file should not lose quality. The pixel dimensions matter, the ppi matters. It sounds to me like you are trying to place a small image into a large document.

Digital painting - check out Bert Monroy - he's amazing and a great guy: Bert Monroy Photoshop is a tool, like a hammer or a screwdriver. You bring your skills along to use it, those skills might be artist, painter, designer, photographer, etc. A matte painter who used Photoshop is probably proficient with real life painting using oils and acrylics. Like Barb said, you need to master the basics and I'll toss in masking as the next step.

Save for web legacy - you need to choose the highest compression, smallest file size that is acceptable to you. And make sure you save the files at the right size - they should be the actual size for saving on your page - you shouldn't be reducing the size in the HTML.

This is not a "stock" layer style - you would have to create this yourself. And yes, to create it, it's probably a combination of styles. I don't know Elements, so I can't tell you how to create it.

The mark is visible in Illustrator at any magnification, is that right? I get that you can't make it bigger on zoom - just like control points and handles don't get bigger. So if the mark stays the same size, a full screenshot will still help me look at what you are talking about. Post a screenshot and tell me where the mark appears. I don't see the mark in your screenshot... Are you using shapes? I'm working in Illustrator this morning and am not experiencing any weird marks.
