Sometimes i have plenty of shapes that overlaps each other and i need to grab few points of single shape and reposition them. Whenever i press LMB and drag to box select several points it selects not only points of currently active shape but points that are in other shapes aswell. Is there a way to limit this kind of selection to select only points within the selection box that are part of the currently active shape/path? Other than packing paths into groups, locking layers etc?

OMG, this is incredible. It worked like a charm. BAM - 0% cpu and gpu after using: this.stop();
createjs.Ticker.reset(); at the frame its stopping. It still scales on responsive ads, it just stopped needless use of resourced to keep chewing hardware after stopping. This should be implemented in Animate somewhere so much. Especially now with these Heavy Ads Intervention mechanic in Chromes (and possible mimicking it in other browsers soon) Thank you very much Flexercised!

Yeah i was thinking of such easy workaround, but thats another load of KBs on top of animated html, where in ad campaigns KBs are always very limited, which woudl result in greatly reduced quality of the ad itself, so its a no-go. I am looking for someone who knows how the canvases works to say if its technically possible to make it keep one drawn frame without what looks like redrawing static canvas over and over again. If its impossible with canvas and javascript i believe future belongs to editors that will export CSS based animations, which are much lighter, and wont waste resources and power (and conservation of these two seems to be trend that wont end quickly, if ever).

Since google implemented its new Heavy Ads Intervention mechanism that removes ads after 15+ seconds of using device resources im getting hard time avoiding it (especially on mobile devices but on desktop chrome's tabs in background aswell). I have already started using only 14seconds of motion, after which im stopping all animations. Yet, even tho CPU usage generated by browser with my ad drops after these 14 seconds (i can only guess that my canvas stopped using CPU - cant confirm that cause i can measure only whole browser process' hardware usage), the GPU usage is still high on bigger formats even if there is nothing going on in there. I tryied everything, including some "hacky" codes to change fps to 0 along with usuall stops in keyframes. No matter what, whenever that bigger format canvas was on screen, GPU was used heavily and i wonder why is that so, if nothing is animating anymore? Why is it taxing my high-end gpu so heavily for no reason? In before potential suggestions: Yes, i have made sure the GPU usage increases exactly at the moment when that bigger format canvas exported from Animate is on screen even after its stopped. Is there a chance to completly freeze the canvas so it stop using both CPU and GPU and behave like a static image on it's stopped frame? Perhaps some code to implement that would make canvas stop redrawing or something? Im pretty green in technical aspects of how the canvas actually works.

Im getting this problem over and over again, when im trying to move some element on one of the artboards and accidently start dragging artboards around, becouse it happens i start drag while having cursor close to one of the artboards' edges. Would love option to disable it as i would rather drag artboard's name to reposition it. Dragging artboard by their edges generate more accidental, unwanted actions than it is any convenience.

Adobe Photoshop Version: 22.1.0 20201125.r.94 2020/11/25: 4b16c876033 x64 Whenever i select multiple layers, very often one or more of layers are not being transformed with ctrl+t transform tool. Example to reproduce: When i select 2 shape layers and 2 text layers then use ctrl+t to scale them together, only shapes got scaled, text layers remained unchanged. Here is gif documenting the issue: Furthermore, i believe its related to problem with "show target path". WHen i disable it from view -> show -> target path it transforms properly again, however i cant see the paths even with direct seleciton tool then. And after more playing around with layers and path selection tool it defaults back to show target path again and to the problem with transforms aswell. So in sum: I believe it could be fixed if going away from path/direct selection would disable the target path view automatically as it did before. THen it would transform properly. ANd enable target path visibility automatically when going into path or direct selection tools. In recent update somehow it must have been bugged - the toggle of that target path view and its the source of the whole problem.

I have lots of artboards, and created new on top and on the left of the topmost and the ones most to the left during process of creating lots of different formats (that made photoshop recalculate the document dimensions and position of particular artboards and their content in relation to document origin coordinates). That resulted in some vector based objects glitching out when i try to move them within some of these artboards. They instantly teleport to some other place in the document (outside of current artboard). This doesnt happen in previous PS version (tested same document).

Thank you everyone! Yes that legacy exporting is indeed noticed by that action recorder. Just recalled thats exactly what i have been using years ago with batch. Havent had any need for batch since then and forgot about that legacy exporting to try now.

Right now we have to either use artboards to quickly export JPGs for multiple "files" (and lets face it, having to many artboards with large dimensions and lot of layers slows down photoshop to a crawl at some point and itsnt optimal way of working), or use batch option that uses actions, that dont want to catch "export as" action when recording. So all you can do is "save as jpg" where results have huge KB size no matter the quality settings (like 6mb for a jpg that comes with 800KB in "export as" JPG with 75% quality). I have seen this problem appearing for years now in google searches. Its 2020, you add some funny "AI powered" gimmicks, yet you didnt touch this subject for years. Its as unusable as it was. Sometimes you just want to export multiple PSDs quickly as JPGs with reasonable quality/size settings, and you cant use Photoshop to do that, but have to either try to build an artboard based PSD and import all the PSDs there as artboards or go one by one with "export as" dialog... Both require to much time to be reasonable. Is there any chance you will at some point consider making people's lifes easier with your expensive software? Time becomes more and more precious every passing year. It is really what you should be thinking about as important. Not everyone uses photoshop with tones of time to play around with a single file. Lots of us are using it also more technically (as opposite to only joyfull creative experience alone) and constantly on the clock and looking for ways to cut time waste. Thank you.

I believe since some of the relatively recent updates (correct me if im wrong, but thats not really important) the layer that is used as clipping mask for masked layers above it, started sharing its effect like gradient overlay to all masked layers above it. Is there a way to disable it? I dont want to automatically apply gradient overlay's effect to everything that is masked. I just want the gradient to be on the layer that is background as well as being a clipping shape. Right now i have to do workarounds like removing the gradient from the main shape that serves as both bg and mask shape's source, duplicating the layer right above it, connect the duplicates as clipping mask and masked layer, and enable gradient on the duplicate. That way everything in the clippimg mask stack dont share the gradient. Thats not optimal. Would love some toggle option for that.

Before i could enter smart object, increase cavas size and save it, and the smart object in the main project remained exactly the same (and i could just add more stuff around it within the smart object). Now when i change canvas size within the smart object its automatically scaling in the main project. How to change canvas size within the smart object without modifying how it looks like in the main project (assuming we are talking about smart object without background)

Like all the "extra" labels in settings. Trough googling i've found only some generic unhelpfull adobe mumble. How is it, that we pay for very expensive suite, that cant utilise hardware properly, and we are forced to use even more expensive plugins that do stuff better than the suite itself? And how is it that there is no easily accessible documentation about even that semi-usefull, barebones tools we are getting? And a sidequestion: Anyone know a way to change Particle World gravity vector over time? I have a 3d scene set, with lot of stuff going on with camera, including two full clock-wise, linear revolutions troughout 5 minutes clip. Im trying to find a way to adjust particle gravity to match camera angle, followed with producer's position adjustment, so they dont "fall" upwards/sideways at some point in time. Particle World seems to be the only particle effect in AE that takes 3d space into account so looks natural with other, dynamic camera movements. Right now i dont see any way to relatively quickly fix that issue. ANd im on a clock so propably will have to split the particle layers and manually change everything every minute of clip or something similarly stupid. Like if i would be using some awkward freeware software. I understund that being relatively new to the software slows your work significantly and i accept that fact, but lack of documentation basically paralyse it. I dont have time to watch baziliard youtube videos hoping, that one will have answer for my question. Especially that most of them are beginners tutorials talking about the very basics.

Yet another update for today: Just did completly clean windows installation to get rid of possibility that my faulty RAM during previous windows installation could corrupt system files somehow (i have diagnosed it after installation of windows). This Windows installation however was done with just tested, valid hardware and on completly cleaned, formatted drive. I have installed CC and Photoshop right after all the drivers and nothing else. Same issue. That said the only potential reason i see at this moment is Ryzen conflicts with Photoshop.

OMG!!! Finally found someone with similar issue!! I too have exact same problem! Ryzen 7 3800x here. So thats a common thing for us. Its propably related to these CPUs then! update7: Perhaps windows admin event viewer entry will be related somehow. I have noticed some "AppModel-Runtime" errors in the log, with "AdobeNotificationClient_1.0.1.22_x86__enpm4xejd91yc" in it. Below is more about it - if anyone would have idea if it might be related with my problems i will appreciate that information. Done that now. I feel im doomed tho. Hate when something goes wrong and cant find the source - most problematic due to having completly new PC and system. SO many unknown, so little assured. To many "first times". New CPU family (Ryzen), new system installation, new configuration (having system and all applications on same partition), new gpu drivers, seems like completly new issue (didnt found many results via googling - only 1 similar few years old)... I feel like a child in the fog, walking around aimlessly. Tried so many damn things, and the issue just wont go away. Just got rid of the fauly RAM stick after first time building whole PC from the ground up (only reassuring thing was memtest results ont he 2nd stick with 0 errors after completed 45 minutes test). Im doomed. Game over man! Game over!

update6: It seems to be related to some form of caching. After i did the usuall selection of all layers and right lcicking to "export as" to test if whatever im trying now solves the issue, i have noticed that once i select just one layerr and click "export as" the "export as" window still shows all layers! So some sort of caching issue?

update 5: Im after last desperate measure of finding out the reason. I have uninstalled all adobe stuff, removed all the "adobe" and "photoshop" remnants from drive (appdata, documents, program files and so on - all of them), did a clean install of CC and Photoshop. Same issue... I cant think of anything else i could do. Its either some recent windows update (that installed and updated on my brand new system and people are not yet reporting this issue on the internet) or hardware malfunction/compatibility. I have eliminated system firewalls from possible reasons cause tested it with both defender and antivirus disabled. Also on my 2nd PC there is no problem so it cant be router's firewall... I have very same version of PS on 2nd PC and there is no problem. Will try to investigate - perhaps its some issue with fonts? Thats the only thing remaining from things i copied from old PC. But somehow i find it hard to believe, that fonts would interact with "export as" when im exporting just plain images... Might it be Ryzen 7 3800x? Geforce gtx970 latest drivers? Photoshop being on same partition as system? I didnt divided my M.2 drive for separate partitions. I dont know 😕 I somehow suspect the Adobe stuff that pops up on task manager and uses ethernet whenever i do "export as" to be the culprit. Might it be the fact that i just deactivated adobe license on my old, deactivated PC (that would be 3rd out of 2 allowed)?

I have recently migrated to new PC, first tryied with copied AppData folders for Adobe programs, then deleted them to get fresh ones but nothing helps. Whenever i select multiple layers or artboards and use "export as" option, some of them will load previews, some wont, after some time watching them "load" with spinning circles, they become yellow marks with "unknown error". Tryied resetting preferences from within photoshop, tryied starting with ctrl+alt+shift to get fresh preferences, tryied turning off, restarting and turning on the gpu accelerration... Nothing helps. Please advice what to do. Im on 21.1.2 version (up to date today) update: Seems the problem is only with the previews in "export as" window. When i click export, all files seems to be exporting normaly. update2: noticed even more issues. The "export as" window completly missmatches stuff like dimensions. Also while im using "export as" on multiple artboards, picking one in the window and changing png to "small size 8bit" works completly awkward, whenever its checked, it gives bigger size in the preview and if unchecked its small. Also while checked it changes format from i.e. 1080x1080 to 300x250 (propably due to some bug it takes these from different artboard to be exported... Thats a complete mess... I even went ahead, uninstalled entire creative cloud, removed all AppData "Adobe" folders and did a clean installation to eliminate some old conflicting appdata files. It still happens. I might also add that im on a 2 days old fresh windows 10 pro installation. update3: reverting to 20.0.9 didnt change anything. This whole idea of touch-screen friendly interface is ok. Provided there is option to disable it. I like to not have to scroll and click trough stuff all the time, just becouse im forced to use huge buttons and UI in general with huge margins around all elements. Is there a way to get back to more "compact" UI? I really prefer to have lot of stuff available to me all the time on screen. Im not talking just about the height of the layers, but all UI elements that are now treated with "enlargement" and "extra space in between" treatment.

@CLay: 19.2.1 (408) @kglad: Well, thats not viable solution. Better workaround is to just use 1 png in that case and animating its scale. At least when you are working with creatives that have specifications and weight limits. Unless you want to deal with Animate as a tool for animated movies only. But then you would need to ask yourself why doing animated movies in a soft that cant render videos very well.

Yes, thats why its no go for most of the cases, while it can be done with proper code and weight like nothing. Also friend told me that in previous Animate versions there was no such problem with animating alpha gradients and publishing it as html with js information instead of what you suggest (basically frame by frame animation, but much heavier).

Ok i have did another tests, and it seems only gradients without transparency/alpha animates well (i should have been more specific, but i did tests on gradients with alphas). The ones with transparency are resulting in mentioned glitches. So my 2 questions still stands. Only workaround i have found so far is using png. @nick28, that could work in some cases, but wont in others and its very awkward to do in many cases. For example radial gradient that creates a transparent "hole". If you want to animate it so the hole gets smaller, coming from the very edges of the screen into a very little hole somewhere on the screen. My tests resulted in very low quality gradient bending when i scaled the object and very hard to control precisely (as opposite to gradient transform tool which can be precise). Funny thing is that in Animate, the process of animating that radial gradient is very smooth and easy, and works in viewport flawlessly. Only after export it gets obliterated into some glitched code.
