One of the many actions in Acrobat and Reader installers is "check for files in use". This check helps preventing possible System REBOOT request after installer transaction is finished. In some cases it fails installers if a specific file(s) found being in use. Public MSI property DISABLE_FIU_CHECK set to 1 and provided to the installer(s) disables above check. DISABLE_FIU_CHECK property has been a part of Reader and Acrobat installers for at least 15 years. It has nothing to do with CLEANUP_CEFFOLDER

There was a simple branding change in the most recent Updater version. The new name is "Acrobat Update Service" You can compare armsvc.exe file versions and file descriptions in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\ARM\1.0 Wait a few days and older version will self-update.. There is no functional difference.

Mario, look at the images provided by Abambo. If you don't see "Check for updates" menu item in Acrobat, it means that updates are disabled by the policy (you can search this forum for bUpdater registry value) or best refer to this document-Getting Started — Deployment Planning and Configuration (adobe.com) Yes, Acrobat has it's own Updater with it's own preferences, conditions, schedule, etc.., independent from CC applications Updater.

DC is build track, not a version. What is the name of the Adobe Reader you have installed? Does it have DC anywhere in the title or product name? Best if you provide Registry export from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Adobe\Adobe ARM\Legacy\Reader so I can check what you have registered with Updater.

The only proper way to disable updates for a product is to use bUpdater registry value. For Adobe Reader DC registry path on 64bit system is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\FeatureLockDown Set bUpdater DWORD Registry value to 0. If you don't have Adobe Reader DC, registry path will be different. Let me know if the above solution does not work for you, in which case please provide Registry exports from: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\ and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Adobe\Adobe ARM\Legacy\Reader You can also refer to Basic Configuration — Deployment Planning and Configuration (adobe.com)

If "Check for updates" is missing from the menu, most likely reason is that updates are disabled by a policy set in Registry either post install or with customized install. The registry value name is bUpdater, set per product. Even if you delete it from Registry, it will be restored with next update\repair if it was set by customized install. Please search this forum for more on bUpdater.

If Task does not launch Updater (AdobeARM.exe process) and Reader is never launched, Updater will not run by itself. Task should luanch Updater approximately 12 minutes after User loggon and every 3 1/2 hours after that. You might need to investigate why Task does not launch Updater. Double check again Task settings and history..

Monica, please search this forum for iLogLevel registry value and related instructions on how to enable Updater verbose logging. After verbose logging is enabled, try to update using "Check for updates" menu in the application. After that collect and send me in the private message AdobeARM.log file from User Temp folder.

It is not a key, it is registry value. Here are the instructions to enable Updater verbose logging- Set iLogLevel REG_DWORD value to 1 in the registry below HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Adobe\Adobe ARM\1.0\ARM on 64 bit OS HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Adobe ARM\1.0\ARM on 32 bit OS Log file called AdobeARM.log and can be found in the User Temp folder.

Please send me verbose logs (from the system where auto update does not work as you expect) in the private message. If you can't, upload somewhere I can access them. The logs to collect - all files you can find in the User\Temp and Windows\Temp folders that have "AdobeARM..." in the name.

140330 does not exist in Updater, but 140300 does. It is File Download failure. Please enable Updater verbose logging (search this forum for iLogLevel registry value fro instructions) and provide verbose log file (AdobeARM.log) from User Temp folder after you check for updates again. defaultlin1bj20lbst, Trying to disable Updater Service or Task is not the right way to disable updates. As I mentioned, the only right way is to use bUpdater registry. Registry path to disable updates for Services is slightly different from registry path to disable updates for Reader. For Services installed with Adobe Reader DC registry path on 64bit system is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\FeatureLockDown\cServices Set bUpdater DWORD Registry value to 0 Please refer to this document- Basic Configuration — Deployment Planning and Configuration (adobe.com) If you plan to disable updates for Reader and Services, I'd suggest you set bUpdater in both registry locations.

Please provide an image of the dialog that asks for Proxy credentials. Also, please enable Updater verbose logging in advance (search this forum for iLogLevel registry and instruction on how to collect verbose Updater logs) and provide Updater logs at the time you see the dialog. It would help if you export registry that has bUpdater set. Note that originally posted dialog does not look like being displayed by Updater.

1603 is generic MSI error - we would need actual installer error. I would suggest to enable verbose MSI logging (Google for instructions), run install again, collect latest MSIxxxx.log file from User Temp folder, zip it and send it to me in private message. If file is too big, please upload somewhere (Dropbox?) and provide link.

You will likely need to delete bUpdater registry value in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\FeatureLockDown Basic Configuration — Deployment Planning and Configuration (adobe.com) Keep in mind - if bUpdater was set by a transform created by Customization Wizard and deployed with Reader, this registry value will likely get reinstalled when next MSI transaction takes place, for example next available update is installed. You will need to completely uninstall Reader and install it without customization of this registry.

By default Updater is launched by the Task Scheduler Updater Task approximately 12 minutes after User loggon and every 3 1/2 hours after that. When launched, Updater will check for updates for each supported product if time interval (default is every 3 days per product) is elapsed. There are number of conditions for auto-update to happen, not just the EULA check. If you do not see a Product being auto-updated within 3 days, please provide verbose Updater log file (AdobeARM.log) from User Temp folder. To enable verbose logging please search this forum for iLogLevel registry value. Do not post log file here in the forum. Just send it to me in the private message.
