Have you tried saving to .IDML and trying it again with InDesign 18.5? I had a few corrupted files that didn’t export to PDF properly (whichever version of InDesign I had been using at the time), and when I would save them to .IDML and reopen them in InDesign (then save as .INDD, but it’s not mandatory), then they would be fine.

I do see 18.5 mentioned on https://helpx.adobe.com/ca/indesign/release-notes.html, but I don’t see it as available in my Creative Cloud… Two different machines, one Windows, one Mac, both in Canada. I also tried using a VPN that mocks me being in the United States, and InDesign 18.5 still doesn’t show up… Also, I tried all the tricks on https://helpx.adobe.com/ca/creative-cloud/kb/creative-cloud-application-recognizing-available.html but to no avail.

Hi Gert, Strange. I guess then it might depend on the document and the links it contains, maybe also on the fonts. Side question: The image of page 1 of your document is really nice! I can’t make out the word after “Réunies,” on the image, though. Is it “Tenne”? What does it mean? Best, Pierre

Hi Gert, Interesting. The same PDF/X-4 settings, without any modification except for the marks and bleed, do produce the PDF properly for my job as well. I guess the problem is now narrowed down to “Press Quality” + marks and bleed… Best, Pierre

Hi Harshika, The color space destination is the default one from the PDF setting called “Print Quality.” I have added all printers marks and bleed, but otherwise did not modify the Print Quality setting. I’m afraid I don’t understand your other question—the way I understand it, you should have the answers just by opening the InDesign file I supplied… Unless there’s something I missed? Thanks, Pierre

Guten Abend Uwe, I have narrowed down the cause of the problem: It happens ONLY when I ask for “All Printer’s Marks” AND “Use Document Bleed Settings.” Selecting none or only ONE of these options creates a good PDF (whether I select compression or not), but selecting BOTH options makes the “bad” PDF. My joboptions settings are at https://we.tl/t-0NaXmMJyXs. They’re just Print Quality plus “All Printer’s Marks” AND “Use Document Bleed Settings” as mentioned above. Freundliche Grüße und vielen Danke,

Hi @Laubender, My PDF settings are just the regular “Press Quality,” now with compression set to None per your instructions, but to no avail: The issue still persists with no compression. I have uploaded the InDesign package at https://we.tl/t-bf1l2i7vZL Thank you!

Hi @Rishabh_Tiwari, Here are the bad and good PDFs (Mauvais.pdf and bon.pdf, respectively). As you can see, most elements are missing from the bad one. I would include the packaged and zipped InDesign file, but ZIP files are now allowed. 😞 The problem is also present on Mac, at least with the same file. Also, I have not tried with other files. When I saw the problem with this file, I immediately removed 18.4 from my system and went back to 18.3. Thanks!

More than three years later, this issue has still not been fixed. Adobe, what are you waiting for? 😞

Hi, I had to roll back to the previous version (18.3) due to a bug (see my other post) in 18.4, but I have now lost my customized workspace. How can I recover it? I tried updating to 18.4 again, but it doesn’t work (as in, my customized workspace is still lost).

Hi,
I have updated to the new version (18.4) of InDesign, but while some documents export properly to PDF, some others don’t.
Windows 10.
Not too sure how to detail the problem better without attaching a file…

Thank you. I have indeed sent a Feature Request using the official channels.

Thank you very much, but I wonder if Adobe will act upon the suggestion… If this feature is still not available after 15+ years of CorelDRAW having it, I’m not very optimistic.

Those create 90° angles only. If I want, let’s say, a 42.41° angle, then the Arc tool is not appropriate. Also, the way I remember it worked in CorelDRAW, the arc was editable afterwards, akin to what we can do with the circle tool, but there was the option to not create the wedge (“pie slice”) and only keep the arc. This was useful when, for example, one would realize that another graphic element would interfere with the arc, so the arc could be modified (let’s say, to have it go from 10.16° to 25.42° instead of from 9.25° to 19.24°) even after applying stroke options such as arrowheads.

Indeed, CorelDRAW has been doing that for more than 15 years (the last time I used it)… It’s mindboggling that Illustrator still cannot do it! 😞

Great! Thank you everyone for your answers! Switching to “Latin and East Asian Layout” worked perfectly, for these characters as well as others I noticed since posting.

When trying to write the cuneiform symbols 𒀭 (AN/DINGIR, Unicode 1202D), 𒀮 (NAB, Unicode 1202E), or 𒀯 (MUL, Unicode 1202F), Photoshop doesn’t display them (neither does Illustrator, by the way). For example, the sequence 𒆚𒀭𒊩 will render as only 𒆚𒊩. I have tried with fonts Assurbanipal, Esagil, and Santakku (all three found at https://www.hethport.uni-wuerzburg.de/cuneifont/) as well as Noto Sans Cuneiform (found at https://fonts.google.com/noto/specimen/Noto+Sans+Cuneiform), with the same result. I suppose you do not support third-party fonts, but all four display these characters properly in InDesign. Why won’t they display in Photoshop or Illustrator?

Microsoft does this with Office 365… I’m sure Adobe could do it as well with Creative Cloud!
