I have placed one Illustrator graphic .ai, 10 times on a master page in an InDesign document. That master page is applied to twenty pages in the document. When I export that document as a PDF it ends up as an extremely large file. When I checked the Links window it shows that graphic 200 times. I have check in previous files with similar method and it only shows that graphic only the amount of times which apears on the master page.
Does anyone have an explanation for this.

Thanks for your reply Eugene, I have tried it on a few new and old documents re-started the computer also but still get the same issue. My previous version of InDesign works as it should. It turns out that If I choose an Auto underline weight it defaults to zero but if a put a number it accepts it and works ok.

Just updated to InDesign 2024 19.2. I am trying the create a charecter style for hyperlinks but the underline function keeps defaulting to 0 line thickness line weight keeps defaulting to 0 I am not sure if this is an Adobe or a Mac Fault. I am using OS 12.7.3 and unfortunatly for me that’s the newest I can Upgrade on my iMac If anyone has any suggestions would be appeciated. Thanks in advance

Turns out this was a glitch with Apple’s Sonoma 14.1.0. once updated to Sonoma 14.1.1 the problem was fixed!

ust did a system update to the latest verion, Sonoma 14.1 and the Adobe Acrobat Filter Commenting options are not working. For example after I check comments and go to filter to select for example Unchecked or any of the other options, none of them work. Does anyone else has the same issue? or any ideas how to overcome this? thanks in advance!

Hey Dan thank you for your reply/sugestions. I was really pushed for time so ended up splitting the document in 4 sections so it was much easier to handle and and did it manually. I will try the sugestions in later time. thanks again

Just wondering if anyone has a quick solution to this. I have 550 unique pages in InDesign and all 550 pages share the same common back, 1100 pages all up. I’ve created a master/ Parent page for the Common Back so it can be placed into the document without any further work to be done to it. My printer has requested that he wants the front and the back in a sequence ie Front unique page on page 1 and then on page 2 the Common Back, then Unique page on page 3 and then the Common Back on page 4 and so on.... My question is is there a quick way of applying the common Back page without having to do all 550 pages individually? See exapmle below If anyone can help soon it would be much appriciated. thanks Angelos

Hi Rishabh I was sure I’ve replied to you regarding the time machine but it isn’t showing on the Feed. The Time Machine isn’t turned on because all my work is saved directly onto the QNAP Server. regards Angelos

Hi there Just wondering if anyone else is having the same issue as me. I work with iMac computers and save my work directly to a QNAP server. When I go to open or access any files which are located on the QNAP server from any Adobe App or Microsoft App and "Show items as: List" The Date added is NOT showing. However files located on the iMac the Date added is showing fine for those same folders and Files. Also when viewd from Finder the "Date added" is showing regardles where the files are located. Wondering if anyone else is having the same problem as I am. Trying to use lighting effects in Photoshop 23.2.2 but I am having no luck. I start with a coloured background , in RGB mode and 8bits/channel. Filter, Render, lighting effects... and the canvas turns white and nothing is working. I change the presets but the canvas still white and nothing is changing. the features in the window on the "Lights" on the righthand side of the interface is greyed out.

Hi
I’ve resently updated to InDesign 16.2.1 and the size for an A4 document is showing as 210.787 mm x 298.114 mm which I find very odd and frastrating. We all know it should be 210x297mm

Just wonderingif there is a fix to it.

Hi Ashutosh thank you very much for your sugestion. The sidebar option was turned on both in finder (all the boxes were ticked on) and from inside InDesign as your picture above, but by turning it off and then on again it fixed the problem. regards Angelos

Hi all Just wondering if anyone else is have the same problem with adobe CC apps on iMacs. When I launch the App, (InDesign, Illustrator , Photoshop etc...) and go to Open, in the pop up window all the info from the sidebar isn’t visisble. See two images below, the first one with problem described above, and the second image how the sidebar is desplayed when viewed in finder. If anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Srishti thank you very much for getting back to me. After reading your reply I went back to the document and did some further checkings on the file. The text was being copied from InDesign and I was pasting it into Illustrator and it was bringing in a hiden charecter which I’ve inserted (from InDesign). What I usually do in InDesign if I want to Verticaly align the text of a paragraph after a bullet point, I insert a (Command vertical slash) after the (tab) and it aligns the rest of that paragraph under where I insert the (Command vertical slash). InDesign sees (Command vertical slash) as a hiden charecter but with Illustrator although with some fonts you can’t see it it must mistake it as a real charecter see the attached examples attached. I was using the Font Meta for my document and that hidden charecter (Command forward slash) was tricking Illustrator. I hope I am making sense. regards Angelos

Hi everyone just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem as I am with Tabs and indents in Illustrator (see screencapture below). No matter what I do with the Left indent, Frst line left indent and Tabs they do not line up. I am trying to set up a paragraph style as there is a fair bit of taxt in the diagram I am doing but Illustrator keeps changing the values I am keying in. If I do it manually (dragging the tabs and indents it changes the values again. I am replicating the same thing in Indesign and there’s no issue there (it works fine). If anyone can shed any light in this it would be greatly appreciated. regards Angelos

Hi all When I’ve updated to MacOS Mojave the option of "View" when you are in the process of either "Open" or "place" from with in a program, this has turned into a dropdown option only. When you are in "Finder" you have all option displayed, as below. I find the extra step of having to go to a drop down menu a little bit irritating and I was wondering if this is a setting which you have to check somewhere in preferences or Apple have done away with it altogether. Hi Shane go to the InDesign Preferences and under Advanced Type uncheck the very last check box (Show Adornment on Text Selection/Text Frame for more Type controls) and that should fix the problem.

What we’ve ended up doing was: created a new document with the same specs as the original and did a Move Pages (the entire document into the new one) and the TOC worked fine and there was no further problems at all.

Hi people I am experiencing a big problem at the moment with Table of Contents on 76 page document. The document was redesigned from a previous version of this job using the same paragraph styles but revised to suit the new (document version). When I go to create a new TOC the hole Text disappears and yet the preflight shows no Errors. I can copy text from this document into a new document and I can create a new TOC no problems. Can this problem be fixed without having to recreate the document as this would be quite time consuming. Iam using InDesign 2017 and OS Sierra 10.12.1 Is there anyone out there with any advice please. thanks Angelos

Hi people just wondering if anyone else its having the same problem with eye dropping tool with sampling type. When using the tool trying to copy a type specs from another text frame it does not pick up the type specs but it picks the specs of the frame instead. I am working on an iMac and OS Sierra 10.12.1 Any ideas anyone?

Thanks for your reply. I have tried it with different settings, different documents and it still does the same thing, although I can’t see why that should make any difference. The function should be working with any option combination one uses. I have been using this function a number of times daily, for the last 15 years or so and never had any problems. Forgot to mention that I am working on an iMac OS Sierra 10.12.1
