Photoshop version 24.0.0 - but I started noticing this bug a version or two prior, and just hoped it would get resolved by a coming update. So far, it hasn't. How it should work: As you know, documents with artboards use guides both at the artboard level and canvas level, and the two kinds of guide can be toggled on/off via the View -> Guides menu. Until recently, the way these guides have always worked was that whichever artboard was active (selected in the Layers pallet) would receive & hold any new guides being created by drag/dropping them from the rulers. When that artboard goes out of focus (is NOT selected in the Layers pallet) the arboard guides are hidden, and only the newly-selected artboard and/or canvas guides are then visible. When you save/closed and reopened a document, those guides remained attached to the target they were dropped on, either artboard or canvas. And if you wanted to delete a guide, you could drag it back to a ruler—it did not remain selected and vulnerable to be deleted via the backspace or delete key. The current bug: As of version 24 (or 1-2 minor updates prior), artboard guides no longer stay attached to the appropriate artboard when you switch focus to a new artboard or save/close and reopen a document. Close and re-open the file, and you may find that about half the artboard guides have either become anchored to another artboard or converted to canvas guides. Also when switching focus between artboards, all the new artboard's guides do not always become visible until you drag one of the visible guides or drag a new one from a ruler. It's honestly hard to tell which guides Photoshop is treating as canvas guides and which it is treating as artboard guides. Finally, the guides now stay active/selected after you drag and drop them, which means unless you click somewhere else to de-select it before hitting the delete key, the guide gets deleted. In my workflow, I frequently delete a layer from the Layers pallet after dragging a guide. There's no reason I can see for leaving the guide selected (you can't edit its position without using the right-click menu, or do anything other than delete it—which could be done by dragging it to a ruler), so leaving it selected just gets in the way. Would love to see this revert to the previous behavior. I can confirm that the preference to show inactive artboard guides is not checked, so that shouldn't be part of the problem. Happy to post other details if it would help. Thanks!

If you (Adobe) plan to start including a fully-licensed version of Cinema 4D in my Creative Cloud subscription (without jacking up the price), then fine. Otherwise, please stop installing it.

Found this thread when having a similar problem of selections drawn with the marquee snapping to 1px off a guide. I seem to have solved the issue by editing preferences. (Using Photoshop v on a Macbook Pro running MacOS Big Sur v11.6.7 with an AMD Radeon Pro 5300M GPU) From the top menu, hit Photoshop -> Preferences -> Performance, and tap the [Advanced Settings...] button in the top-right quadrant labeled "Graphics Processor Settings." Un-tick the second box labeled, "Anti-alias Guides and Paths" Seems like it's a bug within that aliasing function that snaps selections off by 1 (aliased) pixel. You will still have to re-draw your guide(s) and do a new selection after you un-tick the box, but shouldn't have to restart or anhything. Hope this helps someone!

At some point an update to Photoshop (I'm now on version 23.4.1, Mac OS) made it so sticky notes are always hidden by default. You have to specifically go into View -> Show -> Notes from the top menus to reveal them—and the setting is not remembered, because each time you open the file you have to re-reveal the notes. This is a problem because notes to other designers are no longer apparent within Photoshop. It's also annoying that if you crop the document so the notes are no longer on the canvas, you get a pop-up warning about it - even though the notes might be hidden. Can this be fixed? The feature behavior I suggest is: 1). Either reveal notes by default, or at least make Photoshop remember that you've chosen to show them. This is the previous behavior. 2). Allow the pop-up warning about cropping the notes to be silenced. This would be a feature improvement.

Yea, this feature update is absolutely terrible - it really gets in the way. Trying to save out a PDF file, I have to check a "save as copy" box in the dialog to even see the PDF format (does this obfuscate the "Photoshop PDF" format altogether?). Then PS automatically adds "copy" to the end of the file name even though it didn't appear that way in the file name field of the dialg. WHY? Now I have to go into finder and manually change the file name. So instead of my normal workflow of flattening all my artboards and then saving the PDF, I decided to try this new and wonderful "save as copy" feature without flattening first. I DID uncheck the "layers" checkbox while saving, so presumably the layers would be flattened in the resulting file. Not only did it still add the "copy" part to the file name (even though the file name I entered would not have overwritten anything) but the file it saved is not able to be opened in Acrobat. I got this error box: Further, the file was north of 31Mb, when a manually flattened one would have been under 8Mb. This update is just aweful - they've taken a perfectly intuitive feature that everyone has been used to using as-is for YEARS, and completely buggered it up.

@Mancerrss - What version of Rush were you using that supported the MOGRts authored in AE? I'd like to see if I can install that previous version for a current project where there's little time to try and re-author a bunch of templates in Premiere. Meanwhile, please up-vote this feature request so they can bring this functionality back to Rush -> https://adobe-video.uservoice.com/forums/916423-premiere-rush/suggestions/43028751-support-installing-mogrts-authored-in-after-effect

The issue has returned for me after an update of Photoshop which didn't seem to change the version number. The "updated" version is still Photoshop 21.2.1, but now the smart object scaling/stretching error has returned. Anyone else seeing this?

Well, your seat covers template is beautiful - very nice work. Your template and workflow don't seem to involve any resizing of smart object canvases, though—and that's fine, since in this case there's no reason to resize them. My point is, being able to resize smart object canvases without having the objects stretch and distort is also a legitimate use (and expectation) for smart objects—not only for myself, but also many others judging by the posts in this and similar threads. It has always worked that way up until this recent update, and has become a huge part of our workflows. To say that something which has always worked and been extremely useful to so many people was the bug is just silly. Now, if you want to add the functionality of being able to "pin" the corners of a placed smart object so that when you resize its canvas the contents will stretch and distort (the new, and yes "buggy," behavior), then fine. I imagine there might be a legit use case for doing that. But then I would expect to see an adjustable setting added to Photoshop so the user can choose whether s/he wants a certain smart object to hehave that way. No such setting is currently available. (Maybe you can put in a feature request.) At any rate, as Kyle Wolff has pointed out, Adobe is apparently looking into fixing this which would make this argument mute.

"If you are changing the size of the smart object you should not do that. The Change you see in 21.2 is most likely a bug fix. You happen to like the way the bug worked." I disagree STRONGLY. That would be such a cop-out. The previous behavior was intuitive—and "smart," if you will—appropriate for something called a smart object for when its canvas size is changed. It made the smart object incredibly useful. Since the 21.2 update, it's just incredibly annoying and disruptive to the workflow. When would it EVER be a correct or acceptable behavior to scale an image non-proportionally, i.e. to stretch it? No, the 21.2 behavior is the bug, and it needs to be fixed.

Thanks for posting that link on Photoshop Family. I updated Photoshop via the Creative Cloud desktop app this morning (it still says it's version 21.2.0), and this smart object scaling/skewing issue is still as problem.

Double-click a smart object, edit the size of its canvas by reducing/cropping the height (for example), save, and back out to the main document. The placed/updated smart object is now re-scaled and "stretched" to fill the pixel dimensions of the object's former size. The prior (correct) behavior was that the placed smart object would change in height but remain in the correct proportion and not be stretched. Was this an intentional change in behavior (and if so, why??) or is it a bug? If the former, what setting can be tweaked to revert to the older behavior?

SOLUTION Roll back a version (in my case, version 12.0.1) – open up the Adobe CC app, select the "down" arrow next to Premiere's pill-shaped "update/open" button (not the main part of the button), and choose "other versions" from the popup. Hit the 'Install' link next to 12.0.1 - should be the first link on the top. Had the same issue with Media Encoder, and the solution was the same - roll back to version 12.0.1 Hope this helps someone. P.S. - my system is OS X 10.12.6, 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 processor, Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB Graphics, 16 GB Ram running Adobe CC 2018
