Searching for "virus scanning forums ellis" fails to find a message I posted containing all of the search terms:

with ellis.PNG

But searching for "virus scanning forums", without the term "ellis", does find the message:

without ellis.PNG

Google also finds the message with the full query, "virus scanning forums ellis".

Yes, John, we've discussed this earlier.

The forum search engine, unlike Google's, does not search in the author field of messages, only the body of text in the post itself.

For the forum search engine to find your posts when you input your name as a keyword, your name would have to be in the text itself, as in a brief signature.

When the search engine doesn't find one of the keywords in the text, it excludes that post.

Thanks for the reference to the other discussion.

It also appears that the Who field of More Options is completely ignored:

Have you tried it with the People box checked?  I have not.

Same results -- the contents of the Who box are ignored.

According to the accompanying help, the People checkbox will search people's names (as opposed to discussions).  For example:

the Who section is only ignored when you don't have a valid user in it. It worked just fine when i used your username in there (in your case it was "johnrellis")
