Is it legal if you buy a copy of adobe software in ebay? If a software box is not plastic closed, even if its marked as new, can be a problem because of the serial number? I always need the invoice to show to the surveyor or not? I dont know if this is the apropriate forum to talk about this. Best regards

You take a big chance from buying off of e-bay. Lots of fake copies that look like the real thing. If the price is too good to be true then it is too good to be true. The serial numbers can already be used or black listed because too many people are using it. If it is keygen then your asking for trouble. If it is a fake disk it won't run. The list of problems are endless.

My point would be is that if you are here asking the question then you know there is something not right. Why risk losing your money.

There may be (at least) one very good reason for asking such a question: if you wish to have an older version no longer for normal (re)sale.

The crucial prerequisite is that the application has been bought legally and has neither been used as the basis for an upgrade nor have had its serial number misused.

You may be in deep water, though, so it is good to be able to swim; hence the need to know how.

This forum is not specifically made for this, but I am not sure where else in these forums such questions should be asked; this is a bit like (general) questions about Customer Support.

Adobe has made copies of their product EULAs available. They will tell you in which cases somebody is allowed to sell their license (look for "License transer"). If every previous owner of the license you bought has complied with the EULA, you will be entitled to the rights set forth in the EULA. If any of the previous owners didn't, you are not entitled to anything.

Also, Adobe makes it very easy for a legit owner to transfer the license of their program, so long as everything fits into the EULA guidelines.

If I were contemplating such a purchase, I would demand copies of all of the documents from Adobe FIRST. They can usually handle this transfer via FAX, and when done, per their instructions, will cover you.

Most resellers will refuse to furnish that documentation, because they do not have any, i.e. their "copies" are pirated. If any reseller stalls, run far away and keep your credit card out of their hands. I encountered this with several copies of Premiere 6.5 for the PC. All claimed to have the documentation, but offered all sorts of reasons why they could not FAX copies to me. Never found one legit copy of that program, but found a workaround.
