Issues after the update

Since the origninal post is locked

, here are some remarks about the offered work arounds, plus some additional remarks:

The stupid carriage returns are left in this message.

Work around # 4 does not work, on the contrary, it makes it worse, often duplicating the code.

Issue # 8 also applies to BMP and attach does not work, it gives the same error.

Missing is that the 'Go to original message' works unreliably, if at all.

The HTML view is effectively rendered useless with all the inserted code.

You know, why do we even bother any longer?

Maybe we should all just call it a day. That's what they seem to want. Those of us who still want to hang around in the product forums... do that. For the rest, this whole thing has become a joke.

Between the bannings, locked threads, deleted posts... it's worse than a kindergarden. At least, in a kindergarden, if someone cries there's a helping hand. Here, it's the opposite.

So, in all seriousness, maybe we should all call it a day and move on. Visit the individual product forums if we want... impart and absorb what we can... and leave it at that. The old forums are never going to come back.

And what we have here is no longer a joke. It's a nightmare.

    End of story....

I have called it a day. Then I decided to refresh the page just to see if someone in the product forums needed any help and I got this message:

Hey what do you know, the camera icon is working

    November 24, 2009

Ya, I read about the fix in the fixed stuff comment section.

    Situation on switching on today:

    • Firefox/Mac: Logged out after less than 12 hours of logging in. I logged in normally, only to the Forums (only lower Welcome).
    • Safari/Vista and Eplorer/Vista (computer 36 hours off, same situation in both): Logged in as Claudio_González, managed to log out, logged back with my normal identity, received both Welcomes (upper and lower).

On the Mac and Firefox: I am going to ask a question. I don't want you to get upset. Have you gone to Cookie Manager and  located all your cookies for forums.adobe and Adobe.com and removed them/deleted them.

I had trouble at first remaining logged in. after the change over.

So I followed the directions of Going to adobe.com and loging out then going to forums while in window, then Logging out. Then I went back to my Home page and  open Cookie Mamager from Preferences. Netxt I located all the adobe.com and forumsadobe (or adobefourms) cookies. I dleted them all. The I shut down FireFox. Then open back up went to site typed in email address (for me - you would use desired Username). And I haven't had to log in since the day after the change over.

If you have done this fine ignore the above. If not try it.

I have just come back after a couple of hours

of inactivity, and found that I had been logged out in all three combinations, Although I had done all this before, and in my ignorance I have my doubts that there is any relationship between my random and sudden changes of identity and cookies, I have just given it one more try in Firefox/Mac.

If I can give myself the time, I'll also try it in the other two combinations. In any case, I'll be reporting.

I am still logged in, for days now. And I am still I.

With my never using the Camera Icon, and apart from the occasional line break, which I just delete, I have only seen improvements, including the ability to just start typing the post, or unchanged behaviour.

    I have just read this:

    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2411449#2411449

This is gettin interesting. My very naive question is: what did we gain? Not even the 404 error got corrected!

    No!

    November 21, 2009

seeing something interesting... after a reboot, i'm logged out when restarting ff3.5.5 (winxp sp3) - lounge and this forum are bookmark tabs so go right in... i click the "login/register" link and am automatically logged back in without having to re-enter username/pw. note that last time i logged in on this system i took the advice of someone who posted here about the "remember me" box being broken, so i DIDN'T check that box.

now it DOES seem to rememebr me, and what's more, even when i'm "logged out", a single click seems to log me back in.

cutting and saving this post in case i get the boot when i click post. (but note i was able to get as far as entering a reply in this thread).

anyone else seeing that? would def be an improvement if it were a feature, not a bug!

    November 21, 2009

    I'm seeing it intermittently.

First, a report of a new problem that doesn't seem to be very common.

The first time I tried to come into these forums after the last change, I found that my identity had been changed to Claudio_González, with a very different profile, no avatar and no picture of mine. This happened in Safari/vista, Explorer/Vista and Firefox Mac. My identity was restored without my intervention not long afterwards, both in Explorer/Vista and in Firefox/Mac. As for Safari/Vista, I managed to restore it manually only next day, by a procedure I posted elsewhere.

After that, all went well until yesterday morning, when I found that I had been logged out in Firefox/Mac, but not in the other two computers. I just logged in normally, and all went well again. Until last night. I didn't use my Win machine in the whole afternoon and, when I came to the forums to check the situation before switching it off, I found that my identity had been changed again to Claudio_González, both in Safari and in Explorer, while >I remained logged in Firefox/Mac. Partly because it was too late, and partly because I wanted to introduce a time difference between logins in them, I only re logged in in Explorer. For that, I followed the procedure described in the new FAQ, which this time worked. After logging in, I found that apparently I had only been logged in the forums, but not in the Store, which made sense and didn't worry me:

When I switched on my computers this morning, the situation was as follows:

    • Logged out in Firefox/Mac. Logged in without problem except no Welcome in the upper row (as in the image above) for a couple of seconds, but welcomed afterwards.
    • Still logged in Explorer/Vista, no change (no Welcome in the upper row).
    • In Safari/Vista, the situation had changed from logged in with a wrong identity, to logged out completely. I logged in normally without problems, and got both Welcomes at once.

Unfortunately, I don't have the time and I don't have the knowledge to try to collect all the data that is now required to report properly/formally such problems.

Now, to specific aspects aspects discussed in this thread.

    • These buttons have been there, and working, for months:

(I know because I use them all the time, specially the one at the right). I have just checked, and they both worked in all my three configurations.

    • As can be seen in this message, I have had no problem in inserting JPGs using the camera button.
    • I get the extra linefeed, but not always, and apparently on the first line only (not this time, but it´s there in my previous messages).

I may be forgetting other issues, but things are becoming unstable in this box, so I'll try to post before I lose everything.

Addition: I did forget to mention that, when I post a message, I am now been taken to the original post, not to mine.

When I post from here, I am taken to our latest posts, I think.

Edit: I am. TST is a good area for hiding from unpleasant issues.

Right now, I'm getting both Welcomes in Firefox/Mac, but only the lower one (Forums) in Safari/Vista and Explorer/Vista.

And where  I am taken when I post a message seems to depend on the browser I'm using. The previous one was sent from Explorer, and I was taken to the OP. This one, from Safari, and I was taken to my post (the last).

Early yesterday, I had an issue of not being able to post; I managed to log out and in again which did not solve the issue. After closing down FF and restarting, I could post normally again.

I get the line breaks, but rarely.

I have never seen the added code.

I always blockquote the lot and then cut out parts and sometimes write one or more answers into the quote in a different colour. This works the same way as always, with the occasional mess and and different leading.

I have never used the Camera Icon or attached files; links to uploaded images/files have worked as usual.

These observations are from the TST area, 9 hours before PST.

Having read your post, Jacob, the 'Go to or

iginal post' (thanks for inserting a carriage return again)

does not (thanks again) work. You have to scroll

to the (thanks again!) top to go back to the index.

Ah, but at least we have learned that a workaround for the 4

04 error is to refresh the page!

(Extra linefeed by courtesy of the software).

Addition: and that a workaround for the extra linefeeds is to remove them manually!!!

interestingly, I have not encountered the hard return or the issue with the image upload.  BUT, I've not been logged out yet either ... makes me afraid for when that happens!

    November 21, 2009

Tidewater area of Virginia is 5 hours (approximately) east of where I live. I go to Virginia Beach on occasion for meeting of an Electronics Association I belong to. I not able to go as much since mother's health has gone bad.

But to the topic at hand I still am able to use the camera button. How the change over has affected me (to .16 from .7). I keep showing up as PjonesCET rather than Phillip Jones.

and on the first line of typing I en

d up with the text breaking. (List this)

Which I have to back space to get rid. For now this is a minor irritant, as well as having to change my identity. I'm hoping they will be fixing them both asap.

well, I got brave and decided to log out and see if I run into any of the issues that you guys have had.  So far no unintended line breaks.  Let's check the camera icon and see if it's still working for me (has been working up until now...)

    Yep, it works.

I did just have one thing interesting happen, but I am not sure if it's new because I don't normally post images on Adobe.com as per their TOS, they will keep the image and do whatever they want with it w/o worrying about copyright infringement.....

On to the issue, once uploading the image, the cursor is sent back to the "home" position, meaning the uppper left first character space.  Is this normal behavior?  Seems to me the cursor should be immediately following the uploaded content.

Yes, the Hard Return seems to actually be getting worse. I just look up more often and Back

space (happened again) to correct (did not do that here, or later). It seems to be in the first few lines of the r

eply (happened again), but not always. When it does happen, the little justification icons in the editing scr

een's (there it goes again) Toolbar will flicker in IE 7.5.

I have yet to get any image to attach via the "camera" icon. Have tried all of the approved and sized them to ridiculously small sizes. Nothing. Yet, judging by post dates, it seems that others still can. Looking back on some of my older posts, with those attachments, it seems that all are still up.

    Wow, all of these improvements!
