Spell Check

Enthusiast ,
Feb 13, 2023 Feb 13, 2023

Most broswers these days include a spell check (and grammar in some cases) for text boxes.

The Adobe community forum posts disable this functionality. And for those like me who are spelling challanged, this is a major PITA.

Please restore normal browser behavior for the text boxes to post content.

try creating a post here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-ecosystem-cloud-based/ct-p/ct-lightroom?page=1&sort=latest_...

I have this issue in Edge, Chrome, and Firefox with only a password management tool installed as an add-on.

i don't doubt you have a problem.  i just don't think it's a forum problem.

Actual the forum is using TiynMCEEditor. And looking at the page source code they have disabled the browser spellcheck.

Here is the directions to configure TinyMCE correctly.

Browser spellcheck add-ons won't work here because of the Language Translation API.  It can't be disabled without causing other unwanted problems.  Solution, as previously stated, is to use the onboard spell check feature from the toolbar.

I have had no issues with the language translation API from Bing and Google that I have used previously and I did not disable the browser spellcheck in TinyMCE.

Note: I am a CTO for a living, but still get my hands "dirty" occasionally doing coding and code reviews along with system archichectures. As a result, I have a somewhat jaded perspective on trite answers saying something cannot be done due to a technical limitation.

@Timothy.Spear

no one here can change anything.  you can try to ask adobe to contact its forum manager.

for applicable apps, you can make (some) suggestions to adobe here, https://helpx.adobe.com/ie/x-productkb/global/how-to-user-voice.html

for others, use https://www.adobe.com/products/wishform.html

Yeah, both those links become circular and eventually send you back here.

that's probably a good indication of adobe's interest/ability to change these forums.

Adobe is transitioning away from UserVoice and beginning to merge UserVoice with these forums. Try the Creative Cloud Desktop forum and click on Ideas instead of Discussions.

Another choice for the interim is to type elsewhere, then copy and paste into a forum window.

Neither we as forum users nor Adobe make this forum platform.  It's leased from, and maintained by, a 3rd party called Khoros.  Khoros's technical experts accommodate our requests when they can but they can't reinvent the wheel for us.

It's not so convenient, but there's a spellcheck button for individual posts. If you click it just before you click Post it'll run a spellcheck.

For what it's worth, I'm typing & spelling challenged too.  Some days are worse than others. 😝

Use the onboard spell check from the editing toolbar.  See screenshot.

Hope that helps.
