Why are you banning all these people?

I do not understand what is going on over here. These are long time people. Who are you that is doing this? It can't be the Adobe I know and love.

Why is it they don't have moderators here that have a clue about defusing situations? Oh never mind.

1. no I am not. Let the fact I have been here very little be a testiment to that.

2. oh they will change. Eventually.

Of course they will. Just not soon. My bet is on 2014: a 3 year contract

with 2 optional 1 year extensions is pretty much standard in the

industry. (Well, I don't know about the US, but it is here.) And while

that would mean Adobe could get away in 2012, I don't see that happening.

5 years is a long time to stick around in a place you are not happy with.

Exactly. jochemd is demonstrating he is not one of us by suggesting he can be confrontational but we cannot. Kind of a double standard I would think.

BTW, I receive an email saying "Though the content you posted below was reported for abuse, it has been approved by our moderators".

If anything I said was reported for abuse it would have had to have been reported by a moderator and then approved by that moderator. That way you now have me down for one complaint making it easier in the future to get someone else to agree with you should you decide you want to ban me as well.

What a game.

If anything I said

Everything.

was reported for abuse

Yes.

it would have had to have been reported by a moderator

No. And I checked

and then approved by that moderator.

By a moderator.

That way you now have me down for one complaint

I wouldn't have approved your message if I did.

But after some recent incidents with totally unsubstantiated accusations

against a community member people should be a bit more prudent in their

accusations. So if you want to accuse anybody of anything, do so through

the report abuse button or a PM to adobe-admin or be prepared to prove

your accusations. And yes, you should consider this a warning.

I'm not sure if I got a warning email or not. I got something I deleted that I thought was part of the thread. Anyway. People are simply expressing their opinions. I do not see anything abusive going on. To suggest a moderator might be part of the problem is not meant to be abusive but rather informative. If that hurts perhaps suggestions are not what you really want but rather people to simply agree with you?

I don't think anything Brutus said was abusive either.

I'm going to frame my warning letter, especially since it quotes the "inappropriate language or subject matter and/or abusive behavior" in its entirety.

Oh, the irony! Let this be remembered as the day the house of cards began its tumble.

P.S.: This thread and all associated threads and e-mails are being featured on a website that ridicules inept forum administration. Don't bother deleting the thread--they've already archived it. Deleting it will only make you look worse (as if that's possible). Take a bow, gents--you've reached the pantheon!

I think Adobe should apply the same standards used in identifying pornography.  It is based on "community standards".  As I see it, and many others as well, the community does not see the abuse, personal debasing, etc.in the posts that the moderator does and acts on.

Since this is a community of peers, let us use "community standards" and take a vote on offensive language.  Numerous people are pleading with Adobe to be involved in the process for why posts are deleted and people banned.

This method would only have to be used on the Comments Forum as this is where opinions are voiced on how things are working or not working, and major differences in perceptions are brought out.

You reported someone as abusive for posting a silly picture of a snail? You reported someone as abusive for trying to add levity to a situation? You reported someone as abusive for NOT straying off topic (because he wasn't)?

Hmm. Interesting interpretation of the rules.

Adobe is working to make the forums a more inviting and respectful community.

So, by creating a respectful community how about tell those that are being banned why they were banned exactly and also telling a user why you are deleting their post? Or does Adobe not follow their own policy?

You do realize that by actually telling people what they did wrong will most likely result in the problem being solved. But by not telling people what they did wrong and why you are creating a negative environment. And do you realize that this recent increase in banning users have given you a negative effect in many areas outside of just this forum, at a time when your customer support is lacking...do you really want this much bad press?

The web has become known as a place for free and open communication. The Adobe forums should continue to be as open as possible, as long as a post doesn't physically hurt anyone, and doesn't expound extremist religious or political beliefs that could lead to hurtful behavior. Some people who are experts, and are generous enough to voluntarily share their knowledge, are not always polite -- that's no crime, and there's no way I'd want to give up their valuable contributions just because they have an 'attitude' that may be offensive to some overly sensitive people.

i was playing whac-a-mole with LT while reading the thread. It takes a bit of time to fully register that the posts were deleted which is why there's a new page even though there are under 50 posts left. It should fix itself in a bit

See here's a mod who's explained why the numbers don't match... a simple explanation, no ambiguity and no one has to wonder about strange machinations...

Good of you Zeno to reply.

Thank you for explaining the missing messages. When people know what has happened, they don't have to start guessing, a great help to improve the atmosphere around here.

Addition: Sorry if I unwillingly create some confusion with this message. I opened this thread, clicked on the "Last post" button, was taken to message #49 by Zeno Bokor, and replied it. It was only when my reply was posted that I noticed I had not been taken to the last post of the thread, but to the last one on the first page.

I'm leaving my reply untouched because I think my comment is still valid.

Message was edited by: Claudio González. Reason: addition.

And this forum is where you makes comments and suggestions. I find some of the attitudes of some of the moderators part of the problem. Where else could this be said?
