Why can't I edit or delete a post in the forums after I make one?

Contributor ,

Sorry, I don't know where to ask this. This seems to be the only forum not tied to a product.

Everytime I post in the forums, the ...More link to edit or delete is greyed out for me. (see pic) That box doesn't expand. How do I fix this? I'm logged in. It's the same on Safari or Brave.

To find a forum for your program please start at https://community.adobe.com/

The exact combination is a secret, but new users are not allowed to edit a message until they have 'proven' themselves as real, not spammers

Only employees may delete a message

these are user-to-user forums.

for applicable apps, you can make (some) suggestions to adobe here, https://helpx.adobe.com/ie/x-productkb/global/how-to-user-voice.html

for others, use https://www.adobe.com/products/wishform.html

Grammar or spelling fixes, missing details, improving clarity. Plenty of mundane reasons to let users edit their posts without needing to go through a process of moderator approval.

i think spam problems are/were the reason to prevent new users from editing posts.

It is odd because I frequent a lot of software forums that allow you to edit your posts, and don't seem to have the issue. The spam issue must be quite significant for Adobe.

it is significant, but people like me remove them and have the spammer banned so, hopefully, you don't see any.

Yes... if you will look at the bottom of every message you will see REPORT where an innappropriate message may be reported to the Adobe staff who watch the forums, be that spam or some other type of message that should not be here

The forum is such a mess... I'm surprised they haven't closed the topic as "solved" yet 🙂

as with some of my requests (the quoting bug, for instance)

Seems like I cannot delete my own posts any longer. Why?

users can't delete posts. community experts and employees can move posts, but others cannot.
