Using the Community

I have been using the Preview 3 (I believe) for a couple of weeks. Since I teach web and interactive design, I have had students download it in class and play with it. It is so similar in the interface to Flash that it was simple for them to pick up-- and the program does not have many features so it was a no-brainer. Students seem to sort of get it. Instead of just talking about HTML5 it is nice for them to have a tool that they can manipulate and see the difference.A couple of common problems. When saving out the final files from animation created within Edge from scratch, I had one file (out of 20) that Edge added some slashes to the font names so the font-based animation wouldn't run. It was easy enough to go to the code side of the resulting HTML page and delete the extra slashes and recover the font names so it them ran ok. Of course I had to do it--- and the student had already walked out of the class ticked off that his time invested seemed to be lost. Ah the impatience of yout

Something odd going on this morning (I started 8:15 AM West Coast USA)I clicked on the feedback forum and got a really wierd looking page instead of the usual page, and when I clicked the login link a Jive message came up to try again laterWaited a few minutes and came to this forum, and then the login page... and login took 3-4 minutes to processNow, 3 times so far, an "internal server error" message has flashed across the screen... message seems to be HERE and not in IEIs there, in fact, a Jive server problem?

I have Reader X , Windows 7, IE8 with Adobe PDF Link Helper add-in enabled and virus free with plenty of free hard drive space.  When I print a PDF text document, whether 1 page or 5 pages, the progress bar takes a very long time to load.  After loading the pages print fine.  Its waiting for the progress bar to prepare the document that causes my frustration.  Is this normal?  If not, if there anything I can do to speed things up?  Thanks in advance for your help.Research

have been reading and making comments on items in the Adobe Forums.Despite my being signed in. After a I made a Reply in  one forum topics and dismissed the window (I go to topics from the e-mail Notifications so I can read and just comment on what I want to), I received this strange Pop up Box  requesting  Username and Password and mentions something about Jive software. Has any one else experienced such?  I dismissed it without filling in, and was able to go into nex topic but was slow doing so.

Reloading one of the forum pages, I suddenly had the following message on the screen. A moment later I could get to the forum. I like the note.Temporarily UnavailableWe're sorry. I've not used the forums much recently so when I logged in a couple of days ago I didn't worry about the prompt to assign a 'screen name' to my ID. I just thought it was a feature of the upgraded forum.But then I noticed that my avatar and points were both missing. After a bit of trial and error (much logging out and logging in !) I realised that I have two different screen names assigned to my one ID. My original (nealeh) and the new (Neale_in_the_UK). Both are linked to the same email address.Hopefully the following two screen dumps highlight my problem. Well, the new software helps some, but you guys reeeeeeally need new hardware.  I'm still getting those dreaded five words "Waiting for forums.adobe.com..." on a 15/5 FiOS connection.

If I try and update information in my Adobe profile, I find that "County" and "Postcode" are required fields. "County" is a drop-down list of US states, with no non-US option. "Postcode" requires a zip-code format entry. I am in the UK. If I go to the UK version of the site, I am still logged in, but there doesn't seem to be any way to edit my profile without going back to the US site. How can I get the profile to accept suitable input?

Okay, this is very minor (VERY!)...Just noticed that the list of threads in My Stuff is not in strict date order: The threads highlighted in green appear in the person's profile summary on hover, which may not reflect current issues. In any case I prefer the previous way of displaying threads that a person started. Not a big issue, just highlighting it.Niall

I have a presentation that I never converted from Persuasion 4. I still have the program, and Classic, but somehow the installer files are gone. I hope someone can provide me with that file. THANKS VERY MUCH!

Click the Update button........ scower in frustration that your post has not updated....... Click the Edit button a second time.......Retype your edits, unless you are a smart poster, then simply select all and Paste.......Click the Update button again.......Sigh in relief that your post has been updated, but wonder why you must edit twice every time you wish to edit a post....Things have been this way for quite a while. I've reported it before, still happens every single time.

Hello i recently purchased adobe design standard student teacher edit and im a student im 14 and Adobe sent me my code and it worked and all that then last night it installed updates on my imac now its asking for new code i tried using the same one but saying invalid i dont know what to do and i need those programs right now

I have Muse questions and I'm really hoping I don't have to create yet another online account. (Whatever happened to that thumbprint login technology that was supposedly being developed by somebody years ago?!!) Do Adobe accounts not work on the Muse forum?Thanks.

I had used a program called Virtualdub 1.8 to crop and removed some garbage from the edges of the vhs video.  I would also export this video in Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 to do some color correction.  I would like to know how to render this video as an  file, my final output will be an avi file.  First, do I render this file, save it, and render is as an avi file, or just render this file as an avi in Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0. and save it.  I'm very confused on how to render and save a file as an avi in Adobe.  I'm just learning to use Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0.Gerald Sr.

Several years ago, I had Creative Suite CS4 on my Vista laptop and it was working fine for quite sometime until after an update took place. The license then stopped working. I contacted Adobe and their technical support people to find out what might have happened. They gave me several solutions that did not correct the problem. The last resort probably was to wipe the slate clean by reformatting the laptop, which I still have not done. However, I did get CS 4 license transferred to my Windows XP machine which is about ready to bite the dust as it is slow as a turtle at times. I have a Mac now and it has enough memory of 8 GB and 1 TB hard drive to surely support CS5 but my concern is that has there ever been any incidences where the CS5 stopped working on a computer because of a license expiration or any type of licensing issue, which shouldn't occur because the person owns the right to the license?I am seeking to purchase the software but am a little leary because of my previous exper

I try to batch capture or re-capture my footage on a higher resolution, and when it says insert tape and I press okay, it automatically says eject tape and it keeps coming up over and over again regardless how many times I press okay.I have the latest Cs5.5 Premier pro and the camera I am using is a Cannon XL H1A. The fire wire seems to be working fine because the capture panel with the in and out time capture frames is up.does anyone have any theories? I would greatly appreciate it. thank you

Very frustrating and I have spent much time trying everything directed by Adobe to get it to work.   The program tells me that it has been installed successfully but I cannot play any videos of news items that I try.   What is going on???

I would like to know the procedure(s) on how to render a video as an avi file. Today, on two occasions I've gotten an error trying to upload an image from my local hard drive to a thread.  Normally this has been working in IE9 for me, and in fact I've uploaded a number of images today successfully.  It happened once with a PNG and once with a JPEG  The reported problem, in the dialog the software puts up, was simply "Null".Any number of retries to upload the same or different image results in the same failure.I'm going to try uploading one of the very same images that failed before here.  If it fails, I'll capture the screen and upload it to my site, then post a link here.  If it succeeds, well, you'll just have to trust me that it happened. Bah, of course it succeeds when trying to reproduce a failure.Anyone else seeing image upload failures today?-Noel

I would like to parse the text from a formated PDF report into a CSV for import into Excel.If I do a saveas the spaces are collapsed and the formating is not preserved making it hard to parse it out as fields.Is there a way to define fields lengths and do save as .csv or some other method where I can preserve the fields ?Given a PDF that was not based on a scan , and looks like this: I want to define fixed length fields for the 6 fields and export into a csv.Or is there a way to define the report layout and then  export the text as CSV ?

All embedded flash objects for all of our client websites have suddenly stopped displaying in the past three/four days.  I haven't changed anything that would cause this.  It isn't a problem having to do with Chrome/Flash Browser settings because the missing flash is seen on three of my computers.  There are are issues with Firefox and Internet Explorer.  Anyone else having these problems?  I have tried to find out on my own but can't come up with a reason or a fix.  I'm pretty desperate because I know that tons of my clients use chrome and if I don't get a fix I'm going to have to take out all of the flash components and go back to static graphics/objects.  Help Please!!!!
