Seriously, do points matter? Do you want them? Why if so, why, if not? Are points any good? Do points make you feel more secure? Are points pointed and sharp or are they blunt and blunted? Do points encourage you to answer questions or do they discourage you?Points are not a line... but connecting two pints makes a line... So do points awarded in an answer draw aline and stop all further discussion?I've been following threads in DW General and AI General. I notice that threads, by and large, stop far sooner than they would have. I put that down to the lack of participants for various reasons and the 'Correct' answer flag. So much knowledge and information is not being shared.True, a lot of the posts came from the NNTP side... but a lot also came from the web side... these forums are killing all spontaniety. However, the killers are:1/ Lack of NNTP2/ Points3/ Correct answers
Hello!I jumped the gun and marked my question here in the forums http://forums.adobe.com/thread/436424?tstart=0 as Answered but then I discovered that what I thought was working to resolve my problem was not. So now I need to change the marking from Answered to Not Answered or Unanswered. How do I do this?Thank you!Diane Dennis
Anyone who visits the Color Management forum is very likely to be aware of the contributions of Prof. Dr. Gernot Hoffman, a color scientist at a leading German university.Though we have lost many other valuable contributors, reading his post today has deeply saddened me.I'm just quoting the relevant lines at the end of a lengthy and highly technical discussion:… The ProPhotoRGB file, loaded by Photoshop, echoes the correctLab values - within 1 unit accuracy, despite only 8 bpc numericalresolution. If somebody wants to continue the discussion: I'm asking politelyfor a direct personal post viaMyFamilyName-with2n@fho-emden.debecause I don't like the new forum style.Best regards --Gernot Hoffmannhttp://forums.adobe.com/message/1984507#1984507
Because this interface is unacceptable.......I left the high school prom years ago and refuse to go back.
In private messages, I'd like a one-click way to add someone to my address book.
unusable for me today. between 404 errors and waiting for stats.adobe.com and wwwimages.adobe.com and the posting box never appearing when i go to place a response to something. i think i've made like 2 posts today. i'm not willing to wait 2-5 MINUTES for things to finish downloading or to hit reload then reload again (at 30 secs a pop) to clear out 404 errors.guys, THIS IS THE ONLY SITE I VISIT THAT BEHAVES LIKE THIS!!!we're months into this cr*p experiment. don't you have a lemon clause in your jive contract? i suggest you exercise it and go back to web crossing.i'm actually shocked i was able to get the posting box to appear for this. i'm going to copy and save this message out to notepad before posting because i fully expect to be logged out when i hit the post button.
If it is the right place, could I suggest that the select forum combobox should appear in every web page from the forums and not only on the Forums Home Page, it requires too many clicks to change from a forum to another. Thanks
Will the forums ever remember a login for more than a day or is this a foolish dream?
I have a very large database made in Microsoft Access. I was wanting to put my database on dreamweaver. I have quite a few other programs with Adobe that I can use. I do NOT want to use Acrobat because I want an interactive database available on the internet. I was also curious if there is a way to make it so the person viewing the database does not have to have Access installed as a program.Any help would be GREATLY appritiated!!!!!Thanks!Amber
I know there's a formula, but this still isn't making sense - the 'most popular' in Dreamweaver does have 92 posts, but the most recent is from April 11, and it's just recently risen to the top. I still don't see the point of this feature. I suppose it might have been read a lot lately - it's about how rubbish these forums are.If a post appears in 'more like this' I suppose people might go and read it who wouldn't have, which makes it more 'popular' - all very incestuous.
Since the switch this forum seems to have the most activity. The other forums are practically dead since the switch. Is this really what Adobe wanted?
Hello!I selected "Stop notifications" but I still receive the notifications of the Forum. How can I stop it? I do not want to receive forum notifications all the time.ThxVerena
Until all the problems with email replies are fixed, could you remove "reply to this email (recommended)" from the bottom of emails sent to thread participants? That is, instead of:To post a reply to the thread message, either reply to this email (recommended) or visit the message page:http://forums.adobe.com/message/1969187#1969187have it read:To post a reply to the thread message, visit the message page:http://forums.adobe.com/message/1969187#1969187This will cut down on the number of times that we have to ask people to post their replies on the Web because the forum software is mangling their email replies. As a side effect, when we tell them to use the camera icon rather than attachments, they'll be more likely to know what we're talking about.Recommending that people use a buggy feature is causing needless trouble.
Yes, I know, rehashing, but it feels as though this request is being lost in the fog. In the test forums it was identified as the biggest failing of these forums. We are not alone in wanting this, it's being discussed in the features requests on Jive - last post on this page: http://www.jivesoftware.com/jivespace/thread/42028
Can Adobe make it more frequent, similar to the frequency that e-mail updates go out ? Thanks.Getting the postings far too late in the posting cycle.
...do you have the stones to reveal yourself, and your motivation for removing the "Three Cheers for the Wenches" thread? And why you allowed the "Three Cheers for the Wrenches" thread to remain?I got figh dollah says you don't. Or even if you do, that your reasoning is sound.
I'm referencing the Widgets Query in the FAQs of this forum:http://forums.adobe.com/message/1963810?tstart=0#1963810 Do widgets like "more like this" and "popular discussions" and "top participants" exact any performance hit when they are being figured out and displayed? Reply from Jive Software
Finally I Was able to get CS3 Master suite installed . all of it.by just doing it one to two programs at a time. ( or a complete suite) which worked perfectly.after months of playing around with this program which was poorly designed as a suite for total installation.the installer always would hang up, or if it did complete it would install a shell of the program but not the program.so one day i decided to go into the cs3 setup folder and unchecked all the boxes and just installed one at a time. if they were the same suite i would jus do the complete suite. and this process worked perfectly.the licensing went off with out a hitch as each program asks for the license which is called for at the beginig of installation. so far each component works perfectly..I just wish Adobe would get its developers together and design an install program that will install with out problems. just like i hear the business one does.hope this helps..insert DVD.do not choose install. choose
Oh! points encourage people.
The forum software evidently believes "bucket" is a dirty word, as in "Photoshop Elements' Paint Bucket tool". (B u c k e t). See this thread:http://forums.adobe.com/thread/434983?tstart=0
There have been a lot of posts in the thread, "Is the "point system" here helpful at all?" The general consensus seems to be negative. Apart from that particular thread, there have been numerous references to the sheer a$$inity of the point system as well as the "Correct" answer mis-feature.So, how do we go about getting Adobe to remove these half-a$$ed Jive ACE features? I have a few suggestions:1/ Draw up a list of forums and flood them with inane questions to which we award answers on a random basis2/ Approach John C and Kanguyen with reasoned arguments – an effort doomed to failure as the 'powers that be' are so narcissusly taken with this brainwave – sorry, brain-aberration – of theirs that they will refuse to see logic3/ Flame all good posters who, through no fault of their own get points – (though, i suspect some of them get a kind of vicarious pleasure) – till they run screaming to the Adobe Panjandrums to revoke these features, This effort is doubtful but workable if persons o
Today I noticed that my email address is no longer hidden. When you hover over my name it shows the email address and then says "Private hidden from all users".It is also visible in the Profile. It was not this way 2 days ago, and I have made no changes. What gives?
Hello,I've written a 110 page book that has 50 one minute flash videos to go with it. I would like to make an e-book with the flash content and sell it over the internet. I would like to put DRM security on it. Could someone suggest what adobe product I should buy to do this? Thanks in advance,Kidd
The index page looks fine in Preview but broken up in Layout. I tried the Import feature, and dragging the folders and files that came with the template into a new site. No luck. THANKS
Lets abuse the system so we can get rid of this stupid answer star system.
