Video Hardware

Looking for a laptop somewhere in the $2000 range. I can go a little more say $2500 if it warrants the extra cash. I was set on the Dell XPS 15 9560, but with so many issues, i've shied away. Then i was looking at the Asus Zenbook, but i read on the forum here that the graphics card doesn't work that well for adobe. Looking for something to handle 4k video in Pr and Ae with ease for cool effects and stuff. Will also be doing some Ps and Lr work. Im not really tech savvy beyond the basics. So when people talk about quad core processors and dual core processors i have no clue what they're talk about, so thats why im coming to this forum for help. So what do you guys think

Hi there,I work with 4K R3D files and am considering upgrading my system to enable either:4K monitoring at 1/1 or 1/2 debayerHD monitoring at 1/1 debayerCurrently, my system's output is 1920x1080 - mostly smooth at 1/2, perfect at 1/4.Specs...MB: ASUS X99-ACPU: I7-5930K (Asus Turbo setting) RAM: 32GB DDR4GPU: GTX 970Media: 7200RPM drives (considering setting up RAID)I'm not exactly sure where any bottlenecks might be...Any thoughts on what component upgrades are required for either option, or adequate system specs in general would be hugely appreciated.

Running two MBPs at the mo' from 2011 and, frankly, I'm going to have a breadown. They are unusable with the new suite of programs from Adobe.Not heard great things about the current MBPs. There's talk of a new 32GB RAM version next year. Or can anyone recommend a really good Windows option?Thanks for any opinions, advice,etc…

Hi. I would like to assemble video rendering machine. The idea is to install Premiere Pro and with remote control initiate editing and exporting video in project shared on common drive. The editing of the video will be performed with either my laptop or the same remote control if it is not regards to color editing. It is designed to free my laptop resources.The question is in resource relations. Should I put more money in my motherboard and processor or in the video adapter? So I've been wanting a video editing station for a long, long time and have finally been able to put a computer together. I finished it today, and have just fired it up for the first time. I'm running a Ryzen 1800x, 32 GB Ram (DDR4 3000), 760 GTX. I have a 500GB SSD and twin 2 TB HHD drives (X370-PRO mobo). Using Windows 10 and holding out to see what the new Vega card will do so just using my old gaming card for now.I am completely new to all of this (building it was not easy for me and took about 3 days to complete). I have no idea how to do all these RAM/GPU optimizations (yet) and I don't even understand what overclocking is just yet.  But.. all of that later. Hello,I just got the bose q35 bluetooth headphones and am using them with my "trash can" mac. I've got a blackmagic ultrastudio monitor that i use for SDI video out. At first everything was working perfectly, but now while I can hear spotify and system sounds playing through my headphones, for some reason in premiere  the audio meters move but the sound doesnt go anywhere...  When i go to the audio hardware preferences and select the headphones under default output, i get the following error: "the device settings could not be applied because the following error occured... The Sample rate is not supported by the current audio device. The last valid settings will be used"I try changing the sample rate in the dialogue box below but it wont accept any changes. Also when i switch to my blackmagic for playout everything works fine...Any ideas?Josh

Need help, i have 2012 Mac Pro with GTX 980 ti Flashed, I'm able to select the CUDA but its not using the power of the gtx 980 ti to render my selection or play back 4k footage with out dropping frames, i can switch to OpenCL and it runs a little better is there anything i can do to get my CUDA going?  Im running OS X sierra 10.12.4 with all the updated nividia drivers, i also have ran geekbench 4 CUDA test and it seems like its working but not working in premiere pro 2017cc.................Thanks

Premiere is constantly bogging down on me, and does not use ANY available resources.I'm working in a 1080 timeline, with 4k footage.  My specs are:2x Xeon 2670's (16 cores)40GB ECC ramPCIE scratch disk (2000mbps)Separate System drive raid 0(700mbps)External Raid 0 HDD for files (300mbps)GTX 1080 GPUYet, playback when using Neat video is 1-2fps AT BEST, usually it will just freeze.  If I use something like "Cosmo" from magic bullet, I'll get 10fps.  I have never seen my CPU used at more than 20% during playback or export.  Hard drives are never more than 5%, and GPU is at 20% and may fluctuate up to 33% for a brief second.  My RAM usage sits at 50% most of the time.  I have zero idea where I'm bottlenecking.  I honestly had the same performance with my Macbook pro.  I'm aware that neat video is a beast, but I see no benefit in the better specs of the Xeon machine w/ a 1080, vs a mobile i7 with a mobile gpu.Would any upgrade help me?  I'm tota

My company ordered me an HP 640 Workstation in 2016 that, at the time, appeared to be surprisingly slower than my 2013 custom built workstation (during initial tests). Those tests lead me to create a forum post here regarding that issue. That lead me into purchasing a new system. Once I received it three weeks ago, I re-ran most of my initial tests, and now the results seem more in line with what I would expect. I'd like to know if my new 2017 system should be performing much faster than the 2016 system, or if I should return it, and save my company $5,000. Hi there,I'm beginning to do more video stuff and I'm using iMac to export various kinds of video using Premiere Pro and also After Effects for compositions. I'm looking to speed up the export process in a cost effective way. Currently the iMac just has a 1TB non-SDD hard drive in it which I know isn't optimum.What would be the best options for scratch disks and external drives in order to maximise performance? Hi,I'm pretty new to Premiere and learning a lot.  I have a 2009 8 core Mac Pro with 64mb of ram, all SSD drives and an NVIDIA 980 TI from Mac Vid Card.  I am a full time editor, primarily in AVID but also in Premiere.  New machines are very expensive and I want to get as much life out of my old mac as possible.  The only upgrade left, is to upgrade the firmware to 5,1 and replace the processors with dual 2.66 12 core processors.  In theory, this should double it's processing power but I'm a little concerned about the upgrade.  I'll be running an unsupported franken-mac and I want to avoid problems.Has anyone else done this and have suggestions?  I'm looking to have a company in LA called Ibuildmac do the processor upgrade.Thanks,

Hey guys,I'm about to shoot my first feature film and trying to figure out post production costs. We're gonna shoot in 4k and I'm gonna cut the movie myself but that's where it ends for me, I'm gonna hire a professional editor to do color grading, effects etc. So my question is what is the most budget friendly option of a computer I can get in order to cut 4k footage and then export it for my editor to do the rest. I do not care whether it's desktop or laptop, mac or windows.
