It did not...but thanks, anyway for the suggestion. (I actually had tried that before) Please note that Mystic Thumbs does successfully show thumbnails for all the other Adobe docs: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, EMF, SVG, all other vector an pixel files. Only PDFs don't get created...and they used to. I don't think I changed anything.

Hello... I tried Enable PDF thumbnail previews in Windows Explorercheckbox in Preferences, but that did not work. I am using Mystic Thumbs which shows thumbnails of all the other Adobe apps successfully (Photoshop, InDesign, etc) but no luck with PDF files...so I am assuming (possibly wrongly) that the problem is not with Mystic Thumbs. Is there another way to enable this...through the registry, perhaps? Thanks. ssander

Thanks...this makes sense...but I cannot find the tracing preset file in Adobe Illustrator 2024/Presets/en_US. There's a Tracing file in the Workspaces directory, but that, clearly, is not it...I opened it in a text editor. Anywhere else it might be? I can't find the Perfs file is. (I'll look in the app_data/raoming directory meanwhile.) Thanks. ss

Thanks for the suggestion, but this does not work for me -- I had tried that before posting. Illustrator just impliments the preset I try to drag or right-click but does not move it.. I'll try it on another computer, in case there is an issue with my mouse.

Hello... Over the past few months I have created a dozen or so image trace presets. They were added to the drop-down image trace menu in the order created. I would like to re-order them in a more logical fashion. (I will also re-name them for consistency, but I know how to do that.) Is that possible? Thanks. Steve Sander

Thanks...that works. What I've done is go into PS and fill the transparent area with a dark color not similar to any colors in the image...then, back in Illustrator do the trace. The two methods seem to be about the same amount of work. And yes, the problem is white (or near-white) areas in the PNG that are adjacent to the transparent areas. Thanks for the method.

Ignore white excludes the transparent areas AND the white areas...which is not the same thing as excluding the transparent areas. If there are any white areas adjacent to the transparent areas, they, too, will be excluded.

When I try to add Adobe Systems to Office's list of Trusted Publishers, it says it needs an Office document (like Word or Excel) from the publisher. Where do I find an office document published by Adobe Systems? Thanks.

Is it possible to set the leading to a percent of the text size (rather than a fixed point size), so that if I change the text size, the leading changes accordingly. Example: I have 12 pt text. I set the leading to 150% --> the leading is 18 pt. I increase the text to 14 pt --> the leading automatically changes to 21 pt. I decrease the text to 10 pt --> the leading automatically changes to 15 pt. Etc. Thanks. Steve Sander

Whenever I go to place a file, the default is "Importable Files". I then have to change it to all files to see files formats that are clearly importable but not listed as importable. In the past -- if I remember correctly -- I seem to only have to change it once, and it remembered to show all files with CTRL-D place. How can I make All Files the default Place setting? Thanks. SS

Hi, all... There are numerous folders in both the roaming/adobe and local/adobe folders in my appdata folder that are from much earlier version of my apps. As an example, the roaming/adobe folder has folders for Photoshop versions CS5.1 through CC2019. Which, if any, of these old-app folders can be safely deleted? Thanks. Steve Sander

Hi all... Just bought an 8" Samsung Galaxy Tab A for inexpensive -- it won't kill me if lost oir stolen -- and easy travel travel transport. Unlike on our full-size iPads, the Acrobat app does not seem to display a tree of folders. It only displays all the files, merely sorted by folder. This, of course, is problematic when I have over a hundred files on the device. Organizing them in nested folders doesn't help much, if they don't display with folder levels. Am I doing something wrong -- is there a setting I can change -- or is this a feature that needs to be improved? Thanks in advance. Steve Sander

I am using Acrobat...at least it looks that way. When I click on Settings (The "person" icon in the upper right) and select "About Adobe Acrobat" it shows: (See attachment) https://sanderhome.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/IMG_7367-small.jpg Version 20.1.1.11517 ...and I am logged in as an Adobe registered user. Yes...they are available in the MS Office suite. Just to make things clear: They are available for use in both Adobe CC & MS Office apps;that is, they are on the fonts dropdown menu, and work. They do not show up in the Windows fonts directory, even with a search. They reside in the Users/usename/fontbase/fonts directory, but they cannot be deleted because they are "open in System". I'm pretty sure I do not have Fontase installed -- I did at one time in the past. However, fonts in the Users/usename/fontbase/fonts folder are still showing up as available in Illutrator. When try to delete them, I get an "in use" error. I closed the Adobe CC apps, but it still happens. NOTE: These font are not visible in the Windows 10 fonts folder...so I cannot delete them there (I'm trying to remove all the fonts for which I have no license.) Any ideas? Thanks Steve Sander

Hi... I appreciate all the time you have spent, but I cannot make this happen. Apparently my InDesign (and Illustrator) are looking somewhere else for additional fonts. I'm not exactly going to give up...but over the next week or so, I'll try putting the file in each of the more than a dozen "fonts" folders in the Adobe directory, one at a time. I can't find any setting that directs the apps to find extra fonts in any specific directory. Thanks again. Steve

Hi... I am totally stumped. I did restart InDesign with the file LeagueSpartanVariable.ttf in the Indesign2020/font folder...even added the OTF indivdual files. None showed up. I tried several other Font folders in the Adobe section of both Program Files and Program FilesX86, including Common Files/Adobe/Saved Fonts/Current. Nothing works. Just checking: Are saying this worked with only the LeagueSpartanVariable.ttf in the Indesign2020/font folder and no other files needed anywhere else? I'll try it again. And I'll restart my computer before doing it. SS -- and thanks for your patience.

When I tried to install LeagueSpartanVariable.ttf, Windows says it "does not appear to be a valid font file?". Are you saving to to a specific directory rather than using the usual way to install a file? (Are you just copying it to the Windows font directory?) Steve

One more thing to clarify my question: I understand how to add and use variable fonts in CSS. That is not what I am asking. What I don't understand is how to add new variable fonts to the list of available fonts in CC20 apps: Illustrator and InDesign in particular...which files to use and where to place them on my computer...apparently not in the Windows font directory.
