Another update: Using the latest ACR and PS, whenever I get the "Could not open (filename) because of a program error" in PS, the next time I open ACR by double-clicking a file in Bridge, ACR reverts to the fresh install AGAIN. Someone, PLEASE HELP.

Update... First, a correction: the error message I was getting is "Could not open (filename) because of a program error." It's a PS error, not an ACR error. Closing PS and opening it again sometimes fixes the problem. But it still hapens with 26.8.1. Probably related: many times per day (before and now after the aformentioned disaster), when I save and close a file in PS, I can't bring Bridge forward. It's there and running, but clicking on the Bridge tab (Windows) does nothing. I have to minimize PS to get Bridge to be visible. When that happens, the next time I open a file in PS from ACR, PS is no longer maximized - it's windowed. My suspicion is that PS is crashing because when this happens, a psautorecover file appears in that folder. Just more foolishness to slow me down.

I NEVER have CC Desktop set to auto update. But it did for ACR 17.4.1 anyway. When I checked CC Desktop, auto update was on. Ok, except I when trying to open a file in PS from ACR, I kept getting "Could not save because of a program error." I tried all of the suggestions from "Learn how to fix" short of reinstalling, but nothing worked. This was especially a pain because every time I got into ACR after one of these errors, it acted as if I had never installed ACR before. All the panels were rearranged, my saved workspace was gone, my presets were there but no longer favorites... I had to reset everything several times. So I went to CC Desktop to down rev ACR. That option no longer appeared. But I noticed that even though PS was open and running on my computer, CC didn't think I had PS installed. Ok - no other choice, I clicked on install PS. It immediately said there was conflict because PS was already running. So I closed it and the install of 26.8.1 proceeded. Big mistake. This install has wiped everything I had set up in PS. My workspace - gone. All my actions - gone. Tool bar tools and groupings - gone. It remembered a few things, like how much memory to use (70% of 64GB), but it forgot what scratch drives to use. Just a few of MANY problems. I cannot begin to explain what a monumental disaster this is. It will take me DAYS to get PS back to something usable. I simply cannot understand how Adobe could allow software so clearly not stable to be released. I have been VP of Engineering in multiple small software companies. If we had this level of quality assurance on our products, we would have gone out of business - and quickly. If anyone has suggestions on how to recover my settings, and especially my actions, I would sincerely appreciate your help.

After 9 months, here is my final update to this issue. I submitted two support requests to Adobe Contributor Support (after 2 months and after 6 months) and received two case numbers with barely relevant email reponses, but no follwoup. This has led me to the conclusion that Adobe Contrtibutor Support doesn't actually exist. It's at best an unmonitored account with a few autoreply rules. Here is the second "interaction:" My submission: Adobe Case 00348648. Please tell me what's happening with this. It's been over 2 months since I reported the issue. I received one canned response about submission guidelines, review times, etc. which was not at all helpful. It's now been over 6 months since I submitted the 70 files in question. And I've since submitted over 200 that have all been reviewed within a few days while these 70 still sit unreviewed. Please do not send me another useless canned response. This issue is clearly not normal. Thank you. Adobe's response: Dear Scott, Thank you for contacting us. We have received your message and your case number is 00376860. A comprehensive overview and detailed information on most questions can be found in our Guide for Adobe Stock Contributors. I received this repsonse on April 25 and as I said, there has been no followup from Adobe. Lesson learned: don't bother to contact Adobe Contributor Support - it's a waste of your time. I took Jill's suggestion of opening two browser windows and copying keywords from the dead submitted files to the newly uploaded files. That saved me a lot of time. Thanks, Jill! That was 4 days ago. About half of the 70 files have already been reviewed.

Thanks for your replies. So what I hear people saying: The banner on the Adobe Stock contributor website site stating, "Thank you for your submission, your files will be reviewed as soon as possible, moderation may take up to 8 weeks." is simply bogus. I thought this could be a glitch in Adobe's system, and reporting it might benefit Adobe as well as me. But there is no way for a contributor to directly contact Adobe. And no one from Adobe who monitors these forums has replied. Adobe doesn't care. There is nothing I can do except wait or delete the files (70 of them) and resubmit (70 of them, re-keywording them one at a time). No thanks. To the person suggesting they would all be rejected anyway, these are images of the Petrified Forest National Park. Of the 12 that Adobe has reviewed, 100% were accepted. In fact, 100% of the hundreds of files I've submitted to Adobe in the last few months have been accepted. Shutterstock has accepted 100% of the same files, including these 70. If I thought the 70 that have been sitting there for 3 months now would be rejected, why would I care that they haven't been reviewed?

I submitted a batch of 70 files for review 9 weeks ago. They are still sitting there. Meanwhile, I have since submitted several batches of 20+ files which have all been reviewed immediately. Does Adobe just not see those 70 files?

Thanks to your post, I too downloaded the Photo Mechanic trial. And I too am blown away by how fast it is. It has a few quirks and I'm still learning how to use it, but it's already saved me literally hours of time waiting on Bridge. I'll keep Bridge because it's "free." I'll probably open Bridge once a month, rather than twice a day.

I opened a folder in Bridge this afternoon. I was working in the same folder literally yesterday. Bridge had forgotten all of the thumbnails. There are 1100 items in that folder, all psd's. It took Bridge 27 minutes to RE-generate the thumbnails. Meanwhile, I can't do anything in that folder - even on the files that Bridge has RE-generated the thumbnails because the files are jumping around all over. I have no chance of finding a file and opening it in PS. I minized the thumbnails in the Content window to as tiny as they would go to help speed up RE-generation - it didn't help. My Bridge cache is 50GB. I don't keep 100% previews in cache. I had only been in one other folder since opening this one. And people wonder why Bridge has such a reputation for wasting people's time.

I posted in the thread above, but in case anyone is only looking at this one... this does seem to work on Bridge 14.0.0.102. I had tried it on previous releases and it would only work for a short while. Now it seems to fix the issue for as long as Bridge is open. When you close and reopen Bridge, you'll have to resize the thumbnails each time. But that is far better than hearing the constant fan noise and putting up with laggy ACR sliders and 2+ second display times when making adjustments. Thanks for the tip!

Interesting... I tried this when it was first suggested. It would work, but only for a short while. When the thumbnail size was increased, it would resume high CPU usage after a couple of minutes. With 14.0.0.102, it seems to work permanently.

It appears that when you reply through email, the attachments are stripped. Here they are. Also, not sure why you mean by "Monitor display setting" so I've also included a screenshot of the PC Display Settings.

See screenshot. The Filter area says there are 66 2-star files. The count at the bottom of the screen says there are 132 items, which is correct. Same for all of the other star counts in the Filter area - they are all wrong.

Bridge 14.0.0.102 is also a glitchy mess. Adobe has real competitors now, and has reacted by ignoring what's broken and devoting thier effort to adding new features. IMHO, new features don't mean much which basic functionality that I've come to rely on doesn't work, or is so slow that I waste hours every week just waiting on Bridge.

Agree with everyone here - it's a major problem. With only Bridge and PS open, my CPU fans are running high all the time, and ACR sliders are laggy and jumpy. Makes it very hard to get anything done. Bridge Team: Please take this issue seriously. It's causing my CPU to constantly use ~30% doing nothing. That in turn causes my CPU fans to constantly be noisy. And it makes the sliders in PS laggy and jumpy.

BTW, this is Bridge 13.0.4.755. This issue seems to be either a failure to save settings when closing Bridge, or a failure to read settings when opening Bridge. When the Curve and Color Mixer settings are not preserved, the Optics setting always reverts to Profile when I've left it in Manual. See screenshot... perhaps this has something to do with the problem

Two issues so far:
Randomly (seemingly - I haven 't found a pattern) switches between Parametric and Point curve each time it's opened.

Bridge Team, I'm not sure if this helps yet. After installing the beta, I opended a folder I've been working in for the last few days (thumbnail and preview generation should be well finished!). It's on a very fast NVME SSD. It has 3600 files, roughly half .dng and half .psd. Bridge has been consuming over 98% of the CPU for the last 40 minutes and is using 19GB memory. Disk usage runs about 4 MB/s. If I change focus to some other app (like Firefox), CPU usage gradually drops to ~4% and disk activity stops. When I change focus back to Bridge, it immediately consumes over 98% CPU again. I'll let you know whether the original problem of Bridge consuming CPU when it's not doing anything is improved. Meanwhile, the high CPU usage (which I've reported many times) is still a major problem.
