This is not true. You can definitely copy material from a track on one timeline to a different track on another timeline.   The targeting makes a difference where it ends up. I believe you have to have the correct track(s) TARGETED. Make sure you have at least one on, and if still doesn't work, try playing with where the track target(s) is/are in your main sequence vs. which tracks in the nested sequence (the one in the source monitor) are actully being used. (ex. sometimes a nested sequence is on say tracks V5 & V6 which will affect how it comes into the main sequence -- not necessarily V1). I have started to rename my artboards to the filename I want, so that when I "Export for Screens" at say 5 different scales I don't have to rename 5 different files. The filename will take the name of the Artboard. This has the advantage also that if I have multiple artboards in a document, things are named in a more organized way. Premiere doesn't need to be "aware". For instance now Q maps to "Ripple Trim Previous Edit To Playhead", Opt+Q "Trim Previous Edit To Playhead". OK I solved my "bug" but Photoshop is still really slow. I thought they may be related. My bug was solved by changing the Image Mode to RGB... it was set to "Indexed Color" for whatever reason. I am also getting very slow performance out of Photoshop 2018. I am on a MacBook High Sierra. When it is open, it slows EVERYTHING down in my machine. Even as I type this now, it's laggy. As well, I discovered this with a weird bug (?) ... in which if I open up certain images, all the layers are disabled. That is, if I open up say a .png in Photoshop from Finder. It ends up in a locked layer which I can't unlock, and even the command to "Duplicate Layer" which I'd use to dup to a new file to avoid the locking issue is disabled. I can workaround this by opening up a new .PSD and placing the .png, but this is incorerct behavior, isn't it? And I've checked permissions on the images, I have them. Appreciate the answer. But I don't see how you can insert from the marker section into the multitrack session. I see there's an item in the context menu for it, but it doesn't work correctly and if the Multitrack Window isn't active, I can't tell where it'd be inserting. At least it wasn't behaving predictably when I tried. But at least now I know about marker sections! TY. As for the rest of the answer, I think the complexity of it illustrates the problem. I'm looking for a solution that doesn't involve all that. 'Cos right now it's just as easy to insert a full file onto a blank track, do my edits, and then move the result where I want to. And that's how I have been doing it. But I want to do it with less work, not more. In Premiere, I can do it by simply bringing the file into the source monitor, setting In & Out Points, and then dragging or other methods to put onto the timeline.
