I do not think either low disk space or low memory is the issue. I have used Activity Monitor to observe usage during the Acrobat failure, and there is barely a twitch of change in either memory usage or available disk space. I have 1.31 TB or unused disk space out of 2 TB, and I have 96 GB of Physical Memory of which 54 GB is used. There are virtually no changes in these parameters when Acrobat attempts the OCR. The problem file is indeed a large file, but Acrobat has had no OCR issues when processing even larger files. So, the issue appears to be something specific to the uploaded pdf file (and ones similar to it) ... and not anything to do with memory or disk space. Thanks.

The only files for which I've encountered this issue have digitized copies of books downloaded from sites like Google Books or Internet Archive. As you can see from the Document Properties screenshot above, the file(s) would be quite large. I'll try to identify the smallest one for which I've had this problem. I see a "Maximum size: 47 MB". Would a file as large as that be ok? Thanks.

The issue occurs with multiple but not all pdf files. There is not a specific pattern. However, the error has occurred with a few - but not all - filed downloaded from Internet Archive (https://archive.org/). See below for a screenshot of one Document Properties. Also see below for the error message that crops up. When checking the Ignore Future Errors, the OCR scan repeats the same error message for each and every page, and Acrobat fails to follow the ‘instruction’ to ‘ignore.’ The procedure described in the “similar discussion” does not seem to apply as I’m not working with any sort of ‘form.’

In trying to recognize text in a pdf file, Acrobat (current version for Mac as of 6/2024), I geet an error message about 'wrong parameter supplied to a PDS procedure). I check the box to "Ignore future errors in this document" but Acrobat repeats the same message on the next page. Why doesn't Acrobat "obey" it's own instruction to "ignore." Most annoying. Any ideas?

I am having the very same problem. Here it is late October, and Adobe has done nothing to address this problem. I am on an iMac running Monterey 12.6.1, and using LrC 12.0 - the latest release. When will Adobe respond with a fix?

I have created a custom template for a cell size slightly different than 8x10. The first couple of prints came out sized perfectly. However, when I went back to make some Print Adjustments (brightness), the print size reverted to the underlying 8x10 - even though the Layout section of the Print module displayed the cell size I had previously set. Nothing I try short of starting over seems to affect the print cell size. I am using LR Classic 9.2 on a Mac running macOS Catalina 10.15.3, and am using a Canon Pixma Pro-100.

Indeed, that is the number - and it worked. Problem getting to 'chat' and/or 'phone' was with my account and has been fixed. I can now get to the same screen you see. It'll take a bit more work to resolve the import catalog solution, but Adobe is now on the case.... Thanks, David. P.S. Not sure how to close this thread without having the 'ultimate solution' to the catalog issue....

Three different browsers (Chrome, Safari & Firefox) - same result every time: not option to call or chat. Time to contact Adobe under the heading of Account Issues.... There's no excuse for their not offering me the option to call or chat. You've pointed me down the right path, I'm sure (partly because it was the one I was following anyway). You've just reinforced my conviction that I have been on the right path. At this point, I'll say the issue concerning inability to import from a different catalog remains open. But the issue of how to contact support via chat or phone is now being pursued by a different route. Thanks

David - You have been most patient, and have tried very hard to be helpful. My earlier (11:12AM) response was my shorthand for a slightly different route to arrive at the same place as you. I just went there directly from the Adobe Support page. When I follow your well-illustrated procedure step-by-step, I ultimately wind up following your last few footsteps. When following your step: "Now, Select that button down at the bottom, Show me..." I get the screen I included with that 11:12AM post, i.e., the same as your "Down at bottom, Chat" screen, but without the "chat" or "phone" options. What is Adobe doing to me? I certainly pay them enough, and now I can't talk or chat with them..... Thank you for trying...

I'm signed in; I select LR as the product; select trouble shoot for the problem; and the only option available is community forum. My account is CC all apps. Don't know why Adobe always plays so hard to get. See screen shot.

The screenshot you display, Bob, is what I expected to see. But in my case, the middle option is missing. I am running Lightroom Classic CC, Version 8, Build 1193777, under macOS Mojave, Version 10.14.1. I have used this approach before with earlier versions of LR and earlier versions of macOS. It has been my practice, usually once or maybe twice a year, when I'm on a trip and process photos on my laptop. As for contacting customer care, David, I can find no way to chat - the link to customer care only leads me back to the community forums.

This is a possible option for accomplishing my end goal. However, I believe this approach merely imports the images, and does not apply the processing/developing that had already been done in the other (in my case, field) catalog. So, in the end, this approach is not satisfactory. This is why LR offers the import from another catalog option. However, this import process did not proceed in my case as advertised by Adobe - as describe in my original post. Thank you.

Thanks for the quick suggestion. Kost's approach is actually another way of describing (and contextualizing) what is outlined in the LR CC user guide that I reference. However, both Kost's step-by-step and the LR CC (online) user guide, suggest that there are three (3) options in the File Handling menu for the catalog import. My issue is that I DO NOT see 3 options; only 2. And it is that missing option - copy new photos to a new location and import - that is the heart of my problem.

I'm trying to import LR Classic CC photos from a different catalog. The link How to import photos from Photoshop Elements, other Lightroom Classic CC catalogs, or apps such as iPhoto in Lightroom C… offers instruction, but doesn't work as described. It used to work in earlier LR Classic CC versions. It's how I used to transfer a working catalog from my laptop in the the field to my desktop upon return. Something has gone awry. According to the subsection 'Import photos from a different lightroom classic cc catalog', step 4, there are supposed to be 3 options in the File Handling drop down menu: add new photos to catalog without moving; copy new photos to a new location and import; don't import photos to a new location. The 2nd option (copy new photos...) doesn't exist in the real world, i.e., when I try to execute this import. So, I'm seeking a workaround, or solution to this error in the Photoshop 'user guide'. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Thank you, Bob Somrak & F. McLion. Your responses (concise & clear) resolved my issue and I'm now set up to move my image files. Never having wanted to move image files before, I never appreciated that LR only shows folders in which imported images are located. I guess that could have been inferred from How to create and manage folders in Photoshop Lightroom Classic CC which is referenced from How to manage photos within folders in Lightroom Classic CC but, in fact, the "create and manage" page doesn't really describe how to "create" a folder - one more difficulty with what I regard as poor Adobe documentation for its products. Thank goodness for the forums.

As implied in the text of my post, I do know how to import images and how to move images between photos. The question I asked - and repeat - is how to get LR to DISPLAY the folder structure that exists on my computer. Without that accurate display, one cannot follow the procedure to move the images.

I want to restructure folder locations of some pictures in a catalog. However, when trying to identify the location to which I will be moving selected images, the destination folder won't display in the Navigator panel. The folders/subfolder are there in Finder, but not in LR. How can I display these 'missing' folders? Images of the Navigator panel and of the Finder are attached. I want to be able to move images in the Africa-2018 folder to a different folder - in this case a subfolder of the Lightroom folder seen in the Finder. Any suggestions?

Indeed. But almost the same principle applies. In a comment text box one can set the default font and font size as default for subsequent comment text boxes (by an analogous procedure). But one can't set the size of the comment text box itself as a default.

...My error in recollecting older capability. What I had recalled - worked in old versions, and still works in DC as I have now unravelled - is that one can: Create a first field, e.g., a text box; Adjust its properties and appearance, e.g., size, font, font size, etc.; Right click on that first field; and Select "Use current properties as new default". All subsequent fields, e.g., text fields, will have the properties set for that first field. Thanks for making me look harder.

Thanks for the suggestion, Jeff. But your approach is unnecessary overkill. I subsequently learned from Adobe CC Tech Support that Error Code 50 denotes an installation failure due to 'conflicting processes.' Once those processes were manually stopped, a simple re-run of the installation was enough.
