Hi everyone, I am not sure of the technical term for what I am trying to achieve so please bear with me! I downloaded some Vector shapes and I want to make these two shapes kind of merge like the example here: This is what I've got up in illustrator right now, with one shape on top of the other: I've tried the pathfinder tools but I really have no idea what I'm doing. What I'm trying to achieve is to 'merge'(?) those shapes and get the nice even gaps between the shapes... I hope that makes sense. It might be useful to know that each 'shape' is grouped - the winged logo shape is 7 different shapes grouped, and the shield shape is two shapes grouped. I hope this makes sense and I hope someone can help! Many thanks in advance.

I realise there are a lot of questions regarding this issue but they are old and as such the previous updates that fixed the issue do not apply to my current situation. The software is up to date. I am incredibly frustrated. I have saved several files as PDF from Illustrator. Opened in Acrobat Pro, tried to print several ways with several settings but printed blank each time. Opened in Reader and the same problem. The issue cannot be the printer as it prints from other programs just fine. Could it be the settings I used when I saved the file in illustrator? Any guidance is so much appreciated!

Hi all Someone on my facebook feed this morning was having a trouble printing a PDF file. They said when they printed the font was different. It got me wondering, because I save PDFs from illustrator, am I embedding my fonts correctly? Am I saving for print properly? I use Proxima Nova for almost everything, but sometimes I use fancy fonts which I've bought. Which fonts do I need to create outlines for? And are there certain settings I should be using to save PDFs for print? Thanks in advance! PS. Not sure if this is the correct forum - please do move it if it's in the wrong place!

Thank you! You wouldn't believe how long I've been looking for the answer to this! I have included two screenshots and wonder if you could help me with something further. As you can see the trim marks overlap - this isn't really a problem for the two 5x7 designs, but it doesn't work for four 3.5x5 designs. Is there a way around this at all? Thank you for the help - I really, really appreciate it!!

Hello all. Forgive me, I have only just installed inDesign in hopes to find the answer to my long-term problem. I have designed some invitations in illustrator at 5x7. I need to export them 2 per page, landscape orientation with trim marks. This will be the exact same design, side by side: two of the exact same document. I bought acrobat pro just to be able to do this, only to find out that I cannot save the file in this set-up - I can only print it that way. So I installed inDesign this morning and so far, no luck either. This is what I tried in inDesign (screenshot) However when the file opens in Acrobat it is only one page on its own, nothing beside it. Please tell me I'm missing something very simple.... I can't believe it would be so difficult to export a file this way. I have searched the internet high and low for an answer. Thanks in advance.

Ok... I've got this far (it took long enough) but I need to SAVE the file in this set-up, so that it is ready to print when the person receives it. I know it can be done because I've seen documents that are ready to print in this exact set up. Hoping this is a simple trick I'm missing... hope someone can help me! Thanks in advance

I am working in illustrator. I saved my file as PDF, opened the file in Acrobat DC and clicked 'prepare form' and it says no new form annotations detected. What am I doing wrong? Could it be the font? The way I am saving the PDF file.... any help very much appreciated!

Hello everyone! I am hosting my sisters birthday and decided to design and print the invitations myself. I have already designed them (very simple - no images just text) in illustrator at 5x7. I want to create one page which has two of these invitations side by side with crop marks, so that I can print them myself and then trim them! I'd like it to be PDF. How do I do this? And once I've done it, can I save it so that I can just go back and print more without having to set it up all over again? I hope this makes sense, and I also hope it's in the right forum! Hi everyone. I want to create a simple typography logo which will be used on the persons website, business cards and stationery. The logo is just their name, with a small tag line underneath. Is there a go-to size to use in illustrator for this? When I'm doing logos for my own branding I tend to work on a 1500x1500 pixels artboard and export as PNG with transparent background and I don't have any problems - but I want to make sure this person is covered for all the projects they might use the logo for without having to come back to me (it is for a friend, not a paying client.) So, what size artboard should I use and what export settings do I need for the JPG file? And what size artboard and export settings do I need for the PNG files? (Do I need to give them more files than that?) Any help appreciated, thank you

Hi everyone. I want to remove the very bottom of the tail of the 'd', where it overlaps into the 't' below it. I have looked at tutorials on youtube but I don't think I'm entering the correct search term. Can anyone tell me what I need to do, or point me in the direction of a youtube video that explains it? Hi everyone I'm into line drawing and lettering using illustrator and my friend asked me recently if I could design one of those simple quote prints for her so she could frame it in her living room. My question is, say she wanted to print this at 8x10 - do I need to set the document at 8x10? And what method should I use to save this file for print? And am I right in thinking anything for print should be saved using the CMYK colour space? And also, does anybody know if there is a certain type of paper that works best for these prints?! Thanks in advance - any tips at all are appreciated!
