When I export any video in After Effects, regardless of the composition settings, frame rate, resolution, or quality, the render consistently freezes one frame before the 1-second mark. The only workaround I've found is exporting as an image sequence, but there is an additional issue with audio synchronization, and it is corrupted. Standard video exports freeze every time, while renders sent through Adobe Media Encoder (AME) complete successfully. I've already tested different compositions, export settings, frame rates, and quality levels, but the issue remains the same. Any assistance in diagnosing why After Effects stops rendering at the same point on every export would be greatly appreciated. PS: I’m using the latest version of After Effects on my Apple M4 Max with 48 GB of RAM.
After Effects crashes constantly, black screen and windows become unresponsive. This happens about last week. Everytime I scrub any file (jpg/png/mp4/vector) After effects lags down, black screen and unresponsive.Other software I use does not experience this lag. I have updated the Graphic driver, no effects. I’ve changed the settings in AE, so far no effects. My specs:Intel(R) Core(TM) Ultra 7 155H (1.40 GHz) 32.0 GB (31.4 GB usable) NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop GPU (6 GB) Intel(R) Arc(TM) Graphics (128 MB) Storage: 668 GB of 954 GB usedPlease suggest me what to do about this constant problem. I can’t use AE at all.
Affects at least the Windows version, problems primarily show up on NVIDIA(tested on drivers 610.88 and 610.47).This started with a beta tester for one of my plugins reporting that in AE2025(and not the earlier versions) the plugin occassionally hangs or crashes.I managed to to replicate this on 25.2.2(I was unable to get the later 2025 versions to run *at all*)so I went ahead to try and diagnose the issue. The hang case was odd and a lot of time was spent chasing down red herrings, one of AEs hundreds of threads just seemed to be getting stuck in an exception handler, and some of the attempted fixes just turned it into a crash.I then went and downloaded the latest version - 26.3.0 and look at that, this one managed to reproduce the crash out of the box.The crash case turned out to be far more helpful and eventually I tracked both of them down to a stack overflow in nvwgf2umx.dllEverything I was seeing turned out to map to a known issue https://github.com/getsentry/sentry-native/issues/
I am unable to interact with shortcuts on the search bar on the "Replace Footage/File" Dialog Box from the Project panel. After effects 25.5.0 Build 4Meaning I cannot paste the long file name I just copied and have to manually type. I cannot copy or select the text neither. It has happened on both macOS Tahoe and also macOS Sequoia. Please fix this
In an After Effects 2025 tutorial, the Camera Frustum/Wireframe is magenta, but the Focus Distance indicator line is clearly WHITE.In my After Effects 2026 installation, both the camera frustum and the Focus Distance indicator appear magenta.I am using Classic 3D and Depth of Field is enabled. Is there a preference, View Option, Layer Control setting, or any other setting that controls the Focus Distance indicator color?I don't want to change the Camera's Label Color because that changes the entire camera wireframe/control color.I specifically want to distinguish the Focus Distance indicator from the camera frustum.Screenshots attached:After Effects 2025 tutorial — white Focus Distance line + magenta camera frustum. My After Effects 2026 — both appear magenta. Was this behavior changed in After Effects 2026, or is there a hidden setting/preferences option?
when I’m using masks i need the masks to snap to edges and points , like if i want a simple rectangle reveal i need the start keyframe to be exactly on each other, while I’m activating the snapping option why it’s not snapping?
Hi everyone,I’m writing to bring attention to ongoing, severe performance issues in After Effects starting from the 2025 releases. As a paying Creative Cloud subscriber, the current state of the software has severely impacted my workflow and daily productivity. I cannot work anymore smoothly with the latest AE versions. The Key Issues: Memory & Resource Spikes: Rapid, unexplained RAM/disk usage leading to lag and full app freezes. Preview & Timeline Lag: Severe slowdowns during simple composition playback and UI interaction compared to previous versions (e.g., AE 2024). System Instability: Frequent crashes and memory leak behaviors even when standard troubleshooting steps are taken (purging media cache, resetting preferences, allocation adjustments). Sudden File Incompatibility (MP4 & MOV): Files that worked fine previously—especially standard .mp4 and .mov containers—are suddenly throwing errors, failing to import, or displaying as unsupported/corrupted media without

Gradient rendering issue (Grayscale) in Lottie/Bodymovin after After Effects 2026 (v26.0) update Issue: After updating to After Effects 2026 (v26.0), all gradients are being rendered in black and white (grayscale) when exported via the Lottie (Bodymovin) extension. The same project worked perfectly in the previous version (v25.x). Details: Setup: I am using standard Shape Layer Gradient Fills (not Layer Styles). Symptoms: All gradients in the project lose their color data and appear as grayscale in the exported JSON file and Lottie players. Suspected Cause: It seems like a compatibility issue between the new Color Management system (OCIO/Color Engine) in AE 2026 and the Lottie export data structure. Tested Workarounds: Changing Project Settings (Color Working Space to 'None') or saving the project before export does not resolve the issue in v26.0. However, the file exports correctly when opened in AE 2025. Environment: After Effects Version: 2026 (v26.0 or later) Extension: Bod
I'm trying to follow the 'Top 10 Skills Editors Want to Master in After Effects' course, but the download for the project files don't work. I've tried to download them many times and in many different ways, but the download keeps getting corrupted. Only I read that multiple people have this problem.
Issue: In Local Axis Mode, the 3D Transform Gizmo's Z (depth) handle translates the layer along World Z instead of its local Z when dragged in the Active Camera or any perspective view. Local X and Y handles are unaffected. The same local-Z move performed in an orthographic view works correctly, isolating the fault to the gizmo's perspective-view drag rather than the transform engine.Steps to reproduce:Create a 3D Camera Tracked comp of a scene, add solids using the camera tracked points. In the Tools panel, select Local Axis Mode. With the comp set to Active Camera (or any perspective view), drag the gizmo's blue Z (depth) handle back and forth using a solid.Expected result: The layer translates along its local Z axis (its facing/depth direction), consistent with Local Axis Mode.Actual result: The layer translates along World Z, ignoring Local Axis Mode. Local X and Y handles behave correctly — only Z is affected. Dragging the same layer along local Z in an orthographic view (e.g. Top
I have found that when I try to adjust tracking results of the object mask using the mouse to move the mask in the Program Monitor a keyframe is not added to any of the properties. Path or Transform. The numbers do change in the properties window without adding a ketframe. If I manipulate the numbers in the properties panel a keyframe is added.
In past versions of After Effects, I have been able to click on the missing footage, hit the return key to make the name editable, type command c to copy the name of missing footage and paste that into the search bar. This made locating and relinking footage very simple. That feature seems to have gone away in the past year or so. It would be great to get that back again. Are there any other discussions on this? Or is there something in the preferences that I'm missing?
Steps to reproduce:Create a new composition (any size/settings) 2. Add a solid layer 3. Run this via a script panel or File > Scripts > Run Script File: var v = app.project.activeItem.layer(1).property("Transform").property("Position").value; alert("pos=" + v); Expected result: Alert shows the Position value, e.g. "pos=320,180,0"Actual result:Script fails with: Error: invalid numeric result (divide by zero?)Additional notes: String(v), v.join(","), and v.toString() all work fine on the exact same array — only implicit + string concatenation triggers it. Scalar properties (Opacity, Rotation) are unaffected. Reproduces on a completely fresh project/comp/layer, and persists across a full quit and relaunch of After Effects. After Effects version: 26.3.0 (Build 87)Operating system: macOS 15.7.9
Hello Adobe team,I am experiencing a startup crash with Adobe After Effects 2025 version 25.1.0.68 on Windows. After Effects crashes during startup, and Windows Event Viewer reports that the faulting module is: Faulting application name: AfterFX.exeFaulting application version: 25.1.0.68Faulting module name: microsoft.ai.machinelearning.dllFaulting module version: 1.24.4.0Exception code: 0xc0000409Faulting module path:C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC\File Formats\microsoft.ai.machinelearning.dll The corresponding onnxruntime.dll in the same Adobe folder is also version 1.24.4.What I foundI confirmed that the problem appears to be related to the 1.24.4 AI/ML runtime. With the original files:microsoft.ai.machinelearning.dll 1.24.4.0onnxruntime.dll 1.24.4 After Effects 25.1 crashes on startup. However, I backed up the original 1.24.4 files and replaced both DLLs with the following matching 1.17 build: microsoft.ai.machinelearning.dllVersion: 1.17.20240223.
After Effects 26.3 pastes stale/cached clipboard content when source window maintains foreground focus (reproducible with Windows Clipboard History, Win+V)Summary:When the OS clipboard content is changed by a tool that does not stealforeground/keyboard focus from the currently active window (e.g. Windows'built-in Clipboard History flyout, Win+V), After Effects continues topaste its own internally cached "last copied" rich text object instead ofthe actual current clipboard content, as long as the AE window itself wasnever deactivated in between. Premiere Pro does not have this problem inthe same scenario.Environment:- OS: Windows 10 (also reproducible on Windows 11)- App: After Effects [please fill in your version]- Comparison app: Premiere Pro 26.3 — does NOT reproduce this issueSteps to reproduce:1. In After Effects, select a text layer and copy some text (Ctrl+C) so the character/paragraph styling (font, size, etc.) is copied along with the plain text.2. Without switching focus a
Good afternoon, my name is Pedro, and I've been having problems with Pr and Ae for a while now because of the yellowish coloring of the videos, basically they get VERY yellow when they enter these programs. But, in Premiere this problem is solvable, after I configure the sequence to Rec 709 it becomes normal, something that doesn't happen in After Effects, because even using the same configuration (Rec 709) it remains yellowishMy computer's configuration is: MacBook Air (13-inch, 2017) Processor: 1.8 GHz Intel Core i5 Dual-Core Memory: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 6000 1536 MB(Sorry if something is difficult to understand, I'm using a translator)

the video I put on ae freezes and when I enter the app on launchpad it says system error continue . and when I enter the app from the screen it doesn't let me and says engine error or something like that and it doesn't work
I'm new to After Effects 2026. I pressed the space bar to check the image to produce a simple video, but it won't play. I looked up the shortcut bar and configuration settings, but I can't find an answer. After searching, people said that this was a bug. Please give me a solution to this situation. I only have three days.
Hello Adobe Team,I'm experiencing an issue with Adobe After Effects 2025 on my MacBook Air M2.Problem:When I click the macOS green Full Screen button, After Effects does not enter native Full Screen mode. Instead, it remains in windowed mode or immediately returns to the normal window.I have already tried:- Resetting After Effects Preferences- Resetting Workspace- Restarting my Mac- Turning Stage Manager ON and OFF- Checking Mission Control settings- Reinstalling After Effects and Creative CloudNone of these steps solved the issue.Could you please confirm whether this is a known bug or provide a solution?Thank you.
I am rendering multichannel EXRs out of Vray for Maya. I’m bringing footage in with Alpha ignored for comping. Alpha is then extracted separately to be applied to layered comp. I need to composite an optical effects “Glare” render layer using Add over the top of the RGB back to beauty layer stack. Clipping the layer stack works either by applying the Alpha as a Stencil Alpha, or as a direct matte on each layer, resulting in transparency as expected. Adding the Glare above the Alpha layer, unmatted, should retain these transparent areas, adding only the non-black pixels. It does not, the black areas of the Glare layer remain 100 percent opaque. I’ve tried a variety of different solutions, rebuilt the comp, brought the Glare layer into the comp both precomped and not, and tried various different ways of using the Alpha below the Glare layer. Nothing works. The Add calculation is simply not working properly.
I have assigned the profile to REC 709 Gamma 2.4, but the Metadata of this is missing when exported as a MP4 on a PC.
Since updating to the new Adobe 2026 release, interacting with the "Color Profile Converter" effect causes the application to crash instantly to the desktop without any error message or warning. I cannot apply the "Color Profile Converter" to any new layers. Worse, I cannot open ANY existing projects that already have this effect applied. The program instantly crashes upon loading the project. Steps to Reproduce: Scenario A (New Project): Open Adobe 2026. Create a new composition and add any layer (solid, footage, etc.). Apply the "Color Profile Converter" effect to the layer. Result: Instant crash to desktop. Scenario B (Existing Project): Try to open an existing project file that contains the "Color Profile Converter" effect. Result: The software crashes instantly during the project loading phase.
