After Effects (Beta)

When I set the shot to render in AME it boots AME, but does not send the file to AME for rendering. If I manually drag N drop the file, it hangs when trying to work with the CH file. If I try to render in the que, it snags , but never at the same point on the timeline. It can go from 13% upto 90%, then hangs. I have ample memory, The only other program running tends to be PR, but it still snags even when that is turned off. If I try and use AE 2021it will render most of the time, but loses all the smart replay functions that were used in CH.There is no ERROR generated, it just hangs and stops the render. I've let it sit for hours, thinking it was still working, but nothing happens.

Today we are excited to announce the availability of AME Export of AE Compositions using Multi-Frame Rendering in the After Effects beta, available in builds 18.4x37 or newer. We strongly recommend you update to the latest Adobe Media Encoder beta but it is not required for AE MFR support.   What does AME Export of AE Compositions with MFR do? The lates BETA build shows up as Version 22.0.0 (Build 5). This seems like abig jump from 18.4.3. Or is this just BETA numbering? All the best, René 

System info    Application: After Effects (Beta) v18.4.0.32    OS: macOS v11.4.0, RAM: 16.00 GB, CPUs (logical): 8 command to paste does not work. When copying any text from other software (photoshop, word, text) the command to paste the text into after effects beta is simply not enabled.

Title says it all. The 3D-Indicator will not appear if the layer is set to be a guide layer. The layer will turn 3D, though. The UI just won’t show. After Effects (Beta) v18.4.0.32macOS 10.15.7

Can't use mocha after latest update, if I try to apply it to a video sequence it, open mocha UI it gives me the following error: Bad argument provided. My video sequence is not loaded, and I can't track anything.

How to reproduce:1)get a greenscreen footage2) track a garbage mask3) apply color range effect > key the footage4) set color range's effect mask to that mask5) duplicate layer, remove all effects and masks on a duplicate6) apply on it set channels (or set matte) pointing to the second layer using effects and masks7) Switch to solo to view that the alpha is ignored

At certain point After Effect always brake the Wacom controler to the point I have to restart the computer.It always happens.

Steps to reproduce:Open this build of After Effects on an M1 Mac Result: ... Expected: No warnings, no events. I get the same message with Premiere Pro 15.4. After the warning and quitting the process AE opens just fine. I have not tested functionality beyond adding a couple of shape layers and animating scale and position.   Dynamic-link from Premiere Pro 15.3 and 15.4 also does not work.  System info    Application: After Effects (Beta) v18.4.0.30    OS: macOS v11.4.0, RAM: 8.00 GB, CPUs (logical): 8   Dynamic Link works just fine between the current release of AE and PPro. It is just the beta versions that are broken. I suspect it has something to do with Premiere Pro Beta being a universal app (M1 compatible) and After Effects being an Intel (Rosetta) app.

Debug asset failed prompts upon application load screen.

Problem Description:If I hit shift-F5 to take a snapshot (or click the snapshot icon), AE takes about 10 seconds or more to actually take the snapshot. AE remains completely responsive during that time however. I'm using 18.4.0 (Build 24) on a very fast machine. Steps to Reproduce:1. Press shift-F5 (or shift-F6, -F7, -F8)2. Nothing happens3. Continue to use AE for a few seconds4. Press F5 to display the snapshot5. AE sounds an alert to say "there's no snapshot stored"6. Wait a few seconds longer7. Steps to reproduce:    1. ...Elipse path on shape layer 2. Add repeater 3. Add stroke after repeater4. Repeat 10 circles5. Animate scale of repeater 100 to 600%Result: ...At high percentages the stroke breaks and starts to do weird things. It works ok if the stroke is applied before the repeater but that scales the stroke and thats not really the effect I'm going for.    Expected: ...Strokes to animate normally and not black out and/or stroke in weird unpredictable ways.  System info    Application: After Effects (Beta) v18.4.0.24    OS: Windows v10.0.19043, RAM: 127.87 GB, CPUs (logical): 48

I noticed the preformance of Rotobrush 2.0 is as of the last few updates, Is totally unuseable it will begin to propagate a few frams and then NOTHING it hangs and does nothing a few seconds into the clip OF ANY clip I use. Both in the Beta and the  the non Beta versions of After Effects. I have heard that some people have had to back date there graphics card drivers to get it to work again. What ever the problem, at this point it is unusable.

Frequent (every session) crash when using AE for the last ~3 2021 updates and Beta. After working in the timeline (scrubbing is sufficient), any attempt to switch to another application causes a system freeze of 2-5 minutes. If I wait it out, the comp window in AE becomes solid white, and I am able to access other apps. AE doesn't recover; to get the comp viewer back, I have to quit and re-launch. Steps to reproduce:    1.Open AE and move around in a composition timeline    2. use alt-tab or windows taskbar to select any other running application Result: system hangs for 2-5 minutes; mouse and keyboard unresponsive including to ctrl-alt-del. At the end of the freeze, the AE comp window turns white and system responsiveness is restored.Expected: should just switch aps, no? System info    Application: After Effects (Beta) v18.4.0.18    OS: Windows v10.0.19043, RAM: 255.89 GB, CPUs (logical): 64Video

The levels effect is crashing AE Beta every time I add it. Also Every time I click it in a prexexisting comp.Results in a full software freeze and crash.

Hi everybody! My title is pretty straight foward, I was wondering if there is a possibility to intruduce camera raw as an effect color correction in After Effects (like in photoshop). I already know the trick to importe the footage as raw, but this technique has alot of inconveniant, the main one beign that you can't really adjust the effect afterward, it just ''applied''. I think that everybody that come from the graphic design industry/photography would be really please to see this tool in AE. I've talk to a couple of person that would be willing to intruduce it as a plugin, but I think it's obviously a better idea to ask you first 🙂 And while im here, are you planning to intruduce the same fonctionnality of the Curve effect in Photoshop to After Effetcs anytime soon? The fact that we still don't have a color picker in the curve is really a bummer. Thank you so much for your time! Marie-Christine 

I have discovered that when exporting from AE to ME using H.264 my final output colours/gamma doesnt match my AE viewport. However, if I export to DNxHD directly from AE then the colours match. What's strange is that if I then take this DNxHD and convert it (with the exact same settings) using ME, it also correctly matches! So why the shift when going straight to ME from AE? Results attached

Is it only me or is it normal to have screen tearing in the new beta versions that just recently came out?  Weirdly I don't have any screen tearing in after effects 2019. What could possabliy be the issue, and is it fixable? Maybe its because of DirectX12? It looks like this

What are the implications of this? Searched the forum and the beta "What's new", but found no explanation. Is it meant to improve panel performance?

After update to Ae 18.3.0.22 and Ch 4.3.0.27 from latest beta versions, Ae no longer sees imported Ch files. When opening file in Ae there is message that Ae can't read files and opens dialog box with selecting Ch projest scenes. I use 2 imported scenes and diolog box shows 4 times, and after that I cancelled reselecting (another 2 dialog boxes) and Ae file opens with missing 2 imports from Ch. Ch opens project without problem. Error Message: Failed to connect to Adobe Dynamic Link source in project: "xxx". Please select source again. When I reload or replace footage, the same looop with selecting source and connection problem occurs. Please help to go back to previous beta versions Ae and Ch (where are installations) - I'm on the last day of very urgent project and I can't wait

Steps to reproduce:1. Have a comp with a 3D enabled solid and a Camera2. Right Click > Guide LayerResult: 3D Layer Indicator dissapeares Expected: Regardless if the layer is a guide layer I'd expect to be able to see if a layer is a 3D.I suspect that this is related to the 3D stack as it doesn't happen to layers in the middle of a stack but does disappear if the guide layer is on the top or bottom.All the solids in the above image are 3D. System info    Application: After Effects (Beta) v18.2.0.20    OS: Windows v10.0.18363, RAM: 15.93 GB, CPUs (logical): 8

there is a problem when copy&paste text from mail or simluar.. to AE. It wont happen anymore. making it useless at this point to work with the beta.

When i set a multi view, sometime the menu to select single-view, multi-view, etc is present at the bottom right, and somtime ... it is not There is still the possibility to change mutli-view by right-clicking one the area (not on a object) Regards, A. This error message showed up when starting Effects 18.3.x11 for the first time after installation via double click on an AE file (macOS Big Sur 11.3.1)Before that there was a message claiming that the “Required Folder” ist missing. Subsequent launches via the Dock showed no problem.

Bounding box do not match shape boundaries.And when I zoom and use Hand Tool - shape boundaries "jump".How can I fix that?
