Photoshop v27.5 is Live! Explore ideas faster with Firefly Boards
A new workflow in Photoshop desktop makes it easier to explore, organize, and refine creative directions, without breaking your flow!
What’s new
With version 27.5, you can now open your cloud documents directly in Firefly Boards from Photoshop. This lets you quickly explore ideas, create and compare variations, and organize concepts visually before taking your preferred version back into Photoshop for detailed editing. The result is a smoother creative loop from ideation to refinement using the same cloud document throughout.
You can start from an existing Photoshop cloud document, place it on a Firefly Board, experiment with variations, make adjustments, and keep everything neatly organized in one place. When you’re ready, simply open any variation back in Photoshop and continue editing with all the precision tools you already rely on.

How to use it
On the Photoshop desktop home screen, go to Your files. From the three‑dot menu next to a cloud document (PSDC), choose Open in Boards. Create a new board or select an existing one, then start exploring variations. When you find a direction you like, use the three‑dot menu on that variation and select Open in Photoshop to continue refining.
Fixed issues
- Export As displays an An unknown error occurred message and cannot be used when Use Legacy Export As is enabled.
- Built-in composition guide presets (such as Rule of Thirds or Golden Ratio overlays) are not available as one-click options from the Guides menu.
- Changes to the Clarity and Dehaze adjustment effects are not reflected on the Photoshop canvas after saving.
- Pattern Overlay layer styles set to Linear Light in Photoshop versions 27.2 and 27.3 revert to Normal when the file is opened in older Photoshop versions or the current beta app.
- Typing the letter “P” or “p” in text input fields within Image > Variables > Define or Data Set toggles the Preview checkbox instead of entering the character.
