Photoshop v27.9.1 Is Live! Explore Ideas Faster with Firefly Boards, Smarter AI Prompts, and Streamlined Editing

The Remove Tool improvements look like the most useful part of this update. Being able to refine distractions directly from the Contextual Task Bar should make everyday edit noticeably quicker.

Updated today, and everything already feels noticeably smoother. The improvements to the Remove tool are probably my favorite so far. I haven’t had a chance to try all the new features yet, but overall, this feels like a really solid update. Great work, Adobe!

Nice roundup Firefly Boards + smarter AI prompts sound like a real workflow upgrade, not just a version bump. Curious how the Boards feature compares to something like Figma's moodboard/ideation tools is it positioned as a brainstorming layer before you drop into full editing, or more of a built-in asset organizer?

Issue still remains where Remove Tools hang and doesn’t complete their operation consistently on Windows 11 whereas these issue were not present testing on a Mac. 

Issue persists when checking the Generative Ai dialog box:  Auto, ON, or OFF. 

Continuously have to shut down and then force quite in Task Manager and relaunch photoshop to get REMOVE TOOL to maaayyyybbeee have it work again.

I am paying for a continuously bloated software that has some serious Data Center Server speed and stability issues.  (PixImperfect on Youtube also thinks this)

ps.  Generative Expand also causing banding issues on expanded areas with very obviously noticeable expanded areas with no blending.

And still, after being reported as an issue some 6+ years ago, metadata is still being stripped when the image is saved as a PNG file.

In 27.8.0 release there was a problem with CMYK images and serious banding. The solution was to disable “Technology Previews / Precise color management for HDR display” in preferences, leaving "Use Graphics Processor" enabled. See link: 

However, in this new release, not only has the same serious banding issue not been fixed, but disabling  “Technology Previews / Precise color management for HDR display” no longer works. The only workaround now is disabling "Use Graphics Processor", which prevents the use of several Photoshop features. Please fix this bug or provide a solution/workaround. Photoshop is still missing spherical image editing. i missing using my 360 camera. 

I agree—the Remove tool improvements are probably the most practical part of this update. AI features like Firefly Boards are exciting, but the workflow improvements that save a few seconds on repetitive edits usually end up having the biggest impact over time.

I'm also glad Adobe fixed the favorite fonts issue. Losing a carefully curated font list after resetting preferences was frustrating, so it's nice to see that addressed.

I use Photoshop regularly while creating graphics and assets for {Link removed by MOD} and I'm particularly interested in testing the new Firefly Boards workflow to see if it speeds up brainstorming and client revisions. Curious to hear how it's working for others on real-world projects.

The new Photoshop v27.9.1 update looks like a solid step forward, especially with Firefly Boards and the smarter AI prompt features. Anything that helps speed up brainstorming while keeping the editing workflow simple is a big advantage for designers and content creators.

I'm especially interested in seeing how these AI tools improve productivity without sacrificing creative control. It will be interesting to compare results on real client projects.

Remove tool seems pretty good at reflections now, at least when the background behind the reflector is simple. It would be great if there were dedicated buttons for reflections/dust rather than just “General Distractions.” It would save time to not use processing power for things I don’t intend on remove. The option to choose is there after processing, but before would be nice!

Something random too, but I have noticed on a lot of these announcement posts there are often accounts created the very same day with only one post/comment, and praising the update. The comment below me is definitely a bot, since there is a hidden hyperlink on the period before “Great work, Adobe” that leads to a Quran learning website… Just interesting to see, I’m yet to see similar accounts/comments on any other posts :)
