P: Not detecting older GPU's

I have a AMD HD8490 GPU and installed Photoshop version 21.2 and the GPU is not been detected, I'm not alone as I've come across other people with the same issue on the Photoshop community forum.
Reverting back to 21.1.3 fixes the issue
Why does Adobe release updates to fix bugs and then break something else with the same update.

I posted about this issue over 4 months now and Adobe have still not addressed it, so I wouldn't get you hopes up, a new release of Photoshop is just around the corner and I can't see Adobe fixing the issue with version 21.2 and above.

It will be interesting to see if there are even more issues relating to GPU's in the next version, you can count on it been as buggy as hell, Adobe seem to release beta versions to the public these days, quality testing before release seems a thing of the past unfortunately

Adobe have changed their FAQ for GPU's

"If your graphics card is older than 4 years, GPU functionality in Photoshop may be limited or not supported."

So going forward anyone with an older GPU will need to upgrade their cards in order to be able to use Photoshop version 21.2 and above.

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-cc-gpu-card-faq.html

They have even removed the list of supported cards for some odd reason.

According to Adobe's GPU minimum system requirements

nVidia GeForce GTX 1050 or equivalent; nVidia GeForce GTX 1660 or Quadro T1000 is recommended

The GTX1050 was released in 2016, which makes it 4 years old, so next year that card will be among the many unsupported GPU's

Seems Adobe couldn't be bothered to address the issues with older GPU's

This is really very disappointing - surely having a large segment of your market blocked from upgrading and enjoying benefits for which money has been exchanged should be considered important.

I'll remain on PS2019 even though I would really have appreciated using the new split warp feature and being able to adjust brush angles with a keyboard shortcut.

Reverting back to PS 21.1.3 is not a solution, that version in itself is horribly flawed and on my PC crashes a lot.

In actual fact looking over the changelogs indicated just how scary all the crap is that is hidden from us.

Racing a half baked update to market which should really still be in Beta is a clear indication of just how money driven Adobe is - something that usually does not co-exist well with sincere customer care...

Isn't that unbelievable?

3 Updates already and no fix, though it's a confirmed bug!

I used to LOVE Photoshop for more than 2 decades, but nowadays I totally loose it 😕😕

Hi there,

does anyone know wether the 21.2.4 does solve the issues regarding the GPUs?

Adobe should eventually fix this issue and clearly communicate it to their users.

I was told, that it was considered a bug transfered to india to the developers team and I even got the subscription three months for free because of that.

Since then there have been 2 Versions released and it still doesn't work?!

Still reverting back to 21.1.3 to keep things working 😕😕

What has happened to the Adobe support/tech team?

Any chances, the good quality of Adobe products (Photoshop, Lightroom Classic) will come back to life?

Would be great. Thanks!
