24.1

Mac OS Ventura 13.01

While using Gradient Tool the OPTION key doesn't sample colors like the eye dropper anymore.

Using the previous version of PSD on the same computer works fine

@angryf84 was it 24.1.1? can anyone try to go to their CC app, Check for updates, and install 24.1.1, to see if the issue was resolved?

Hi,
I have tried both, it does not work 😞

The Eyedropper tool does not work with the Gradient tool in Photoshop 2023. Until version 2023 when working with gradients I could select a new color with the eyedropper tool by simply pressing the option /alt key, as it is normally done when working with brushes, but suddenly in this new version it doesn't work.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem? It affects my way of working very much.

Thanks!

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out.

Did you try any troubleshooting steps?

Try to reset the Gradient Tool and your preferences as a test.

You can try to reset the preferences of Photoshop using the steps mentioned here: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#reset_preferences.

Please back up your settings prior to resetting the preferences.

You can check https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#BackupPhotoshoppreferences.

There was an update for me today and it did not fix this... disapointing. I will continue to use the older version that also had and update 23.5.3

Hi, this isn't a bug per say, so I used the discussion thread type.

That said, since updating to Photoshop 2023 I noticed that holding alt/option key while using the color picker no longer brings up the color picker tool. This still works with the Brush Tool, so I was wondering why the feature was removed.

Seems I need more coffee., I meant picking color when the gradient tool is in use.

Photoshop version 24.1 ( windows 10)

From the recent update on photoshop as of now, when I try to use the gradient tool, where I usually just have to press Alt to pick a color, now it does not let me.  The brush tool is working fine as usual though,

I can always revert to an older version, and it seems to do the job. Would love for this to be fixed in future updates.

App version; Photoshop 24.1

Hi,

For a few days, I cannot access the eyedropper while using my gradient tool in photoshop. The option for "Alt-Click"  while using the brush tool and the bucket works fine, which makes it very odd.

The gradient tool remains in the same icon and does not change to the eyedropper when pressing alt. I have not been able to find a solution for this.

Please help, its really frustating my daily work flow in editing.

Best.

This is a known bug now and Adobe are aware of it. The only solution at the moment appears to be reverting back to 24.0.1.

They have addressed the issue.

You don't yet have the fixed version and keep in mind that Adobe like many companies was closed down for the recent holidays. Just be patient.

With the Gradient tool selected and holding the Option / Alt key, you would expect the eyedropper to come up, same as when you have the Brush tool selected. Well, not here. I'm on the latest version (24.1.0). It works on the Brush tool, not on the Gradient tool. What setting did I screw up or what am I doing wrong?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Frank,

Thanks for reaching out.

What type of file are you working with? Does the layer have any masks? Since when are you seeing this issue? Have you tried any troubleshooting so far?

Please check this discussion on a similar issue in the Adobe forum: https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-discussions/eyedropper-not-picking-up-color/td-p/9688277

Let us know if it helps.

However, I am pretty flabbergasted that after more than 1 month, adobe has not yet addressed this issue.

I am not an Adobe employee so I am not privy to the release calendar but to me one month would seem a fairly short time even for a dot-release.
